If you sleep for 2 weeks you can say that its only 2 days until release when you wake up.

If not, do you have a pvp character? Then just craft the equipment you need for free and death level, in the menagerie, for a lvl 20 pet. Its incredibly easy.

Yeah, my very first character was a ranger. He just hasn't done any EotN stuff.

I didnt play Ele extensively, but what I did play was pretty fun. A lot of opportunities to mix up skills and create self combos.

You can also play a more melee-ish Ele by using the daggers. The electric whip skill (main hand dagger, air attunement skill 1) is pretty fun lol.

The biggest thing with picking a profession, imo, is to enjoy the feel of the profession and the unique profession gimmick. Don't think in terms of ranged or not range, or tank or dps since all professions are supposed to be able to do both. Try out the Ele and see if you enjoy the class's unique attunement swapping mechanics. It can be a bit overwhelming (since you end up with twice as many weapon skills compared to other professions), but really rewarding.

Yeah. Take your ranger with lvl 20 pet to the pvp islands. In the menagerie, just talk to Emryd the tamer to unlock a lvl 20 pet for any character to charm. Then take your hom character and talk to Wynn, thats close by, and ask her to show you that 20 pet. Bingo bango easy cool looking statue.

You're not alone man :/ I'm still completely unsure about what to play. Warrior seemed so safe, now there's Warrior, Necro, Engineer, Thief...

Not James Cameron's Avatar, but this glorious show. That picture is actually from the sequel series that just aired its first season this year.

And as Kayos says, watch it now. Seriously, now. There's a good 2 weeks before GW2 comes out, so that's plenty of time to watch the original series at least. Just steer clear of the godawful M Night Shymalan adaptation.
 
Billie is never going to speak to me again, but I've never been able to get into Avatar. I would say though that its use for the way Elementalist turned out is fairly apropos.
