I may be wrong, but I think the implication is that Necromancer plays like Magic the Gathering with a black deck?

I remember reading a preview of the original Guild Wars indicating how one of the developers felt it was like an action based Magic The Gathering, likening your toolbar to your deck.

I still feel that applies. The change from GW1 to GW2 is the same as going from Magic The Gathering physical cards to Magic The Gathering for PSN/XBLA/PC/iPad.

I think pre-purchasers (you pay the whole thing as the down payment) get in on BWEs and stress tests, but mere pre-orderers have to wait until August 27th (1 day headstart).

Not James Cameron's Avatar, but this glorious show. That picture is actually from the sequel series that just aired its first season this year.

And as Kayos says, watch it now. Seriously, now. There's a good 2 weeks before GW2 comes out, so that's plenty of time to watch the original series at least. Just steer clear of the godawful M Night Shymalan adaptation.

So much truth in a single post. I mean, I could understand someone not "getting" Phineas and Ferb right away (it took it a few episodes to click with me), but Avatar? Awesome from episode one. Of course, it REALLY takes off mid-season 2...

Edit: And of course, great news on the stress test thing. Since this may be the last chance I have to play WvW with USGaf, it would be great if we could get coordinated and do some epic stuff there. If we get to build and/or use a trebuchet I'll be happy.

I think you're looking at the screenshot wrong. The armors shown in the pic are light/medium/heavy. There's three tiers of cultural armor for each type, so the pic is showing the second level of each type.

The left most armor is light armor. In the Norn reveal blog, the Norn female is shown wearing that armor, in a different color, holding a rife. If the armor is light armor, that means medium and heavy armor classes can't wear it. No light armor classes can use a rifle.

You know, I'm starting to wonder if that is a harpoon. I didn't see that graphic pop up on the harpoon video I watched, but did see a picture from a link earlier with a gun that looks similar. If it is a harpoon, shame on ArenaNet

The stress test hours are horrible for me here in japan. They should start them at 3:00 in the morning pacific time so I can play after work.

Anyone else kinda worried that the zones we haven't seen yet might not be as well designed? It must have taken considerable development time for each zone given all the jumping puzzles, dynamic events, mini dungeons,, and hidden areas. The verticality in the maps makes it even more mind boggling. I am kinda worried that the later level zones might not match the quality and immersiveness of what we've seen so far.

Those aren't dolls, she's standing at the top of some stairs and those NPCs are somewhat far away from the camera making them look small and her big.

It shouldn't be a harpoon, you can't wield them above water.
I guess the most likely explanation is that this was originally a medium armor model, but later got repurposed as the light Norn armor model.

I understand that fear, because I too feel like the starting zones are just too good for the game to keep this quality for 80 levels. We'll have to wait and see, and if all else fails, you can go back to the starting zones from time to time.
