Dude...this is a dream

Ugh.... on one hand, I have a CE already on pre-order at Gamestop so I'm in the system. If any kind of dispute comes up over the date, I know I got in there as early as I could.

On the other hand, I really hate Gamestop...

Bleh. I'll probably just go over to Gamestop first thing tomorrow and pay off my pre-order in full. If they don't get me my pre-purchase info or I smell a whiff of shenanigans, I'll cancel on the spot and zip over to Best Buy.

When its ready but the rumor is in <6 months if the beta tests go well.

Actually I thought the way it was phrased was there was no possibly way under any circumstance unless the sky falls that it would take 6 months to release.

Then how quick release is within the next 6 months is judged by how well the beta tests go. If they went flawlessly? May, maybe. Decent? August or September.

Has there been any sort of news about about how Amazon's pre-purchase will work? I'm assuming the pre-orders won't just be automatically converted, since there is nothing on the product page about it. But since I saw Amazon on the wiki list, I assume they will have the option in some fashion.

Mhh check your emails. I got a mail a few days ago announcing, that Amazon has still the preorder version and 2 new prepurchase versions avaiable. I took the one with standard edition and beta access + headstart .. 49 €

what i wanted to say : Yeah, you have to manually cancel the old preorder. That´s what the mail says

I'm going to assume that you aren't using Amazon.com, since you gave the price in Euros. I just looked, and the last thing I got from Amazon was sent on March 22nd, and it was basically saying they were still trying to obtain Guild Wars 2. Doing a search on Amazon.com on returns the pre-order version.

End of the month for the next BWE.

Hope so :D, lets hope the 2012 doesn't come and screw us.

correct. I´m wondering that US is later with this than EU.. weird

Wish there was Steam to purchase through still.
Gonna hope it goes through smooth with Anet tomorrow when i pre purchase through them.

Glad to hear BestBuy is doing the CE, would defiantly go with them over Gamestop.

The end of april is when my classes are over.

There will be no greater feeling then finishing finals week and that weekend having GW2 to play.

I'm not going to lie: I've personally had worse experiences dealing with Best Buy than I have had with Gamestop. I know Gamestop employs some pretty suspect practices, but overall my local Gamestop stores haven't been all that bad. I don't mind getting games from them when I have to, although I still prefer Amazon by quite a large margin.

The only positive experience I have really had with Best Buy was their awesome Xbox 360 warranty policy as that policy saved me lots of money in the long run (I even got a free upgrade to an Elite through that warranty!).

The countdown has begun! We’re less than a day away from Pre-Purchase, and since we’re as excited as you all are, we’ve decided to post a video to help us all pass the time and stoke our enthusiasm.
Check out the new Guild Wars 2 Collector’s Edition video, which showcases all of the cool stuff you’ll find in the CE!

Everybody - we love your excitement, but as a reminder: we are talking about April 10th Seattle time. :) ^MK

From Facebook:

We understand that customers are receiving conflicting information about whether GameStop.com will support prepurchasing the Collector's Edition.

We've confirmed with GameStop that both GameStop.com and physical stores will offer prepurchases of the Collector's Edition, starting April 10.

Preorders placed before April 10 are not the same as prepurchases. If you placed a preorder before April 10, either online or in a store, GameStop will work with you to convert it to a prepurchase. ~RB2

Oh, and I snagged a shot from the new video since this is our first glimpse at the Mistfire Wolf, just in case anyone is curious what it looks like.

is that CE only?

Nope, it also comes with the Digital Deluxe.

DD is a Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill, Miniature Rytlock, Chalice of Glory, Tome of Influence, Golem Banker

CE is a 10 inch statue (seriously, that's a big ass statute) of Rytlock, A 118-page hardcover "Making of" art book, a custom frame with 5 prints, a cool-looking metal box and a "Best of" soundtrack CD, plus all of the in-game stuff that comes with the DD.
Plus uber-geek bragging rights for life, yo.

Wonder if we will ever be able to purchase the mistfire wolf skill from the cash shop. Its all the "single use" items in the DD/CE that make me sad and revert back to the regular edition.

*edit*
:D

The single use items are extremely dumb, honestly. Either not include them at all or create items that are not overpowered but are of unlimited use.

As far as purchasing the items in the DD/CE that aren't single use, I kinda hope they aren't available in the cash shop personally. If they were, ANet would probably make the items cost as much or more than the extra $20 for the DD anyway. I value in-game items that are only available for a limited time even if I don't personally have those items because I was a late-adopter or just didn't want to fork over the cash for certain editions.

There's a Best Buy pretty close to my college campus... debating whether to drop the wad of cash on the CE or just save the moniez. Oh, god what do I do!?

Is there any deadline to pre-purchasing in stores? I'm going to pre-purchase the game from EBGames tomorrow but I'd rather not go through the effort if it turns out that I have to purchase it online.

From Twitter:
We know you all have tons of questions, so here come a batch of answers to the most common ones. Ready?

First, don't forget to read through our FAQ for all of the most common ongoing questions: http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/

Second, this is our current list of retail partners for pre-purchase/pre-order of GW2, including the CE: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Stephane_Lo_Presti/GW2_prepurchase_retailers_list

You can pre-purchase the digital or digital deluxe editions from us via https://buy.guildwars2.com/ We do not sell the CE directly.

We know there's confusion about whether some of our retail partners support prepurchase. Here's clarification: http://www.facebook.com/GuildWars2/posts/10150706495474209

Finally, pre-purchase does not begin until the 10th. That is the 10th Seattle time.

And for the bonus round: Amazon does not support pre-purchase of the CE.

Sounds like 2AM EST tonight is when Pre-Purchase begins!

Are people going crazy to buy early only for the CE, or is the entire pre-purchase thing limited ?

I doubt it'll be limited in any way for Digital copies. After all, and I hate to phrase it this way, you're giving them money for the promise of a game. Why would they limit that at all?
