Zaxxon said:The EGM article made it sound awesome. The Western genre has been tragically overlooked, and I'm hoping this game will be good. In the article Neversoft sounded pretty confident about it. They were already talking about sequels.
Amused_To_Death said:I don't think the genre has been overlooked, last year we had Red Dead Revolver and Dead Man's Hand. Both did okay in sales but not great. Publishers have tried but the gaming public have not responded with their wallets. Look at Darkwatch, high cinematic production values, great story, fun game with a new twist and still sold only 88K in August. I doubt Gun is going to reverse that trend. On paper, Westerns sound like a great genre to exploit, but in reality the typical gamer wants to blow up aliens and monsters with their gamma guns and ride around on hover crafts.

I'm a huge sucker for the Western genre - music, movies, you name it. As long as I don't hear about any goddamned flying dragons in this game, I'll be picking it up for Xbox on release.
