Watched episode one, and this kind of show immediately made me think "this would be perfect on Toonami's old afterschool block."

Music is awesome. Ral is awesome and I cannot wait for the inevitable Gouf battle with him.
The end battle in the first episode was great.

Looks like Bandai realized how much (good) fanservice played into Unicorn's success and they're going straight to it for this series.

Still need to watch this myself, which should be resolved shortly, but I'm glad Sunrise seems to have been able to produce a Gundam show that makes up for AGE's failure with both the younger and older halves of the demographic.

Episode 2 is out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIOi14hOOHY

Awesome episode and awesome battles :) Neat seeing the other Gunpla showing up in the intro and I'm guessing
Reiji's own eventual unit is the other Gundam next to Build Strike in the intro title and according to the Gundam Guy suits at the credits.

And Ranba Ral showing up again is amazing. Love the fact that he's going to be a staple of every Gunpla battle in the show. xD

Episode 2 is honestly even better than episode 1. The story feels really "smart" for what it is imo. It's never boring, and they're actually creating a pretty fun set of characters an dynamics to play around with. The are probably going to be a bunch of episodes before they even apply for the championship, but that's fine because the introduction of the characters will definitely make the stakes in the actual tournament fights even better.

The OP and ED are both fantastic too. This is the perfect show for a long time Gundam fan looking for a good time. :)

It feels like a very self-aware show that knows how to poke fun at itself. It's a nice refreshing change from the usual Gundam show, and it's nice to have some pretty sick battle choreography along the way. I also enjoyed Ral's description of the Plavsky particle magic. "Who is this old guy?" :)

WOW! I know we're only two episodes in but I'm really enjoying this so far! The characters seem to really be entertaining to follow and the fight sequences are pretty fun to watch as well. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out! I'm definitely sold on this and will tell a few friends of mine as well!

Build Fighters Episode 2

This show! So good. I really wasn't expecting to like this anywhere near as much as I have.

The fights so far, especially the Zaku one, have been great and are animated fairly well.

And I've liked all the characters so far.

Ramba Ral needs to just randomly pop up in every episode, but I'm hoping for some other cameo somewhere down the line.

Gundam Build Fighters Episode 2:

A show this close to the cut of the likes of Pokemon, Beyblade and Yu-Gi-Oh! should not be this good and yet here we are. Not even sure why this program is so compelling, well, beyond the fact that the mech battles are gorgeous and well animated, and not using CGI. I guess comes down to good execution but this vexes me, vexes me more then it should. More thought is needed on the matter. Anyway, this episode mainly focused on showing off some of the other tournament fighters and establishing rivals and it is all very stock yet I was never bored. Gundam Build Fighters, you are an X Factor that gets my attention for the season.

Looking forward to seeing Psycommu Zaku and Wing Fenice in the next episode.

Anybody catch what the other units were in the intro? There was what I'm is assuming...

Samurai Astray
Wing Fenice
Bearguy III
Gundam X
Some crazy looking Quebeley
A Tallgeese
Sasaki's Gyan?
Something from Victory
SD Knight Gundam
Gerbera Tetra?
Apsalus
Sumo?
Kaempfer
Reiji's custom Mk-II?

Gundam Build Fighters 2

I came for the 2D mecha fights. I had no idea the show stood to actually be so good though.

Seeing the SUMO in action was so hype. The cut where Reiji slices the air before fighting Yuuki was damn sweet too. let's not forget dat OP either.

The silhouette mechs in the OP should be all the one off challengers in the first 12 episodes of the show before the OP changes. There are 8 of them, and we've already seen 2 of them.

The psycommu Zaku II isn't there though, so it's possible it's not an actual fight even though it shows up next week. Which means there'll be even more animated mech cameos in total - just like the tournament ad, the dream sequence, and the flashback in ep1.

Some other interesting things about the OP/ED:

The pilot of the Sengoku Astray is shown here, but the character hasn't been announced, and the character isn't in the ED. Mysterious... because...

The ED seems to hint at the progression of characters Sei will meet in the first half of the series (which the ED covers):

Ep1 (confirmed)

Ep2 (confirmed)

Ep3 (confirmed)

Ep4 (episode subtitle is "Gunpla Idol Kirara")

Ep5 (episode subtitle is "The Strongest Builder")

Ep6

Ep7 (Obari is the mecha animation director for this episode)

Ep8-12? Tournament Prelims?

If you count every character who looks like a Gunpla fighter in the ED and who doesn't have a confirmed mech, there are 8. Just like the silhouettes in the OP!

Been hearing good things about Ep2, so I'll probably check it out later. I liked Episode 1, but it was a little too battle shonen-y for me and the characters didn't seem particularly remarkable. Sweet mechs though.

I hate these shows because it always makes me sad something like this doesn't actually exist.

Gundam Build Fighters Ep.2

This episode was definitely better than the first, and while i did feel they had a bit of cheese in the beginning, it really picked up the pace at the end.
The mech animation was great also.

I was sad when the mech Gonda was using did not end up being the O. So sad...

Main Rival is pretty meh. Wish they didn't go with the Zaku.

I really love the latest episode, it will be exciting to see how the story unfolds given what we have seen already. So much to speculate about Reiji.

MAKES ME WANT TO GUNPLA!

So where am I going to be able to buy the Build Strike that they keep advertising? Really enjoying the show, gonna be tempted to buy if it's not too expensive

Just got through with ep2. Good stuff.

Glad they lost to that guy early as they did, wouldn't be as interesting going forward if they steamrolled everyone they came across. That ending though lol.

Episode 2 was really fun. The characters are uncomplicated, but they interact with each other well, and the fights are all totally awesome to watch. If they can stick by their formula with this level of execution, this will be one of the best shows this season.

watched ep1 and 2

sei's mom makes this better than little battlers already

also intro confirms a beach ep?!? better include qubuley girl and sei's mom

build strike is kind of ugly. bgm choices are great though.

I'm enjoying this so far.

If' I'm honest, at least 50% of that enjoyment is how amazing anime looks in HD on my phone's screen. I've not really watched anime for a long time (maybe 8 years) and all my memories are of fuzzy, badly encoded fansubs and this is glorious.

Man I want a Zeta model so so bad.

Buy the HGUC Zeta, with the High Gloss finish. It looks super gooood with a decent lining job, easily one of my favorite builds and kits. Honestly I don't like buying too much outside of the HG line because while MG's are fun to put together, they always feel too messy, I just like HG's, I feel like I have more room to pain with them, they're more of a canvas while MG's are more complete. But that's just like my opinion.

Building the torso and the VSBR's on the MG F-91 is easily the coolest kit I've ever put together.

Also this show seriously kicks ass, what an unexpected surprise.

last night I woke up at 3AM and was browsing gaf, I ended up clicking on the link and watched episode 2. I have not watched a full anime show since like 1999 or so, haha. I was surprised by how quality it looked. The show was entertaining but very childish and obviously aimed at young kids; but I could see the 10yo version of me getting deeeeeeep into that show. I gotta admit I fast forwarded a bit the kids drama stuff but I was impressed by the animation during the fights.

It's a neat concept and I could see this getting very popular.

I've been enjoying this series so far. Its simple fun with surprisingly good action sequences.

Considering the amount of references to older Gundam series, I am really hoping that the Announcer from G Gundam shows up when they actually get to the World Tournament.

Kind of feel odd that much of my interest in this anime is just the action and such between Reiji and Sei but its really funny, memorable, and insightful. The whole OP and its words combined with the handholding and high fiving is a blast, and probably will never get old.

But beyond that, the soundtrack is really doing well, Yuuki's song that played with the stringed instrument and the vocals throw in was quite fitting, and worthy of rewatching the whole battle over. Kind of hopeful of what ever other songs they may put in.

And I guess for battles, I wish the Plavsky particles were real, imagine if that were even possible and our figures could come to life even. I was impressed that the effects were so intense that even everyone else in the gym could see it and not only that but there being physical elements for Reiji and co to grab and interact with. Mindblowing technological advancement and achievement.
