eh, definitely weaker episode than the first one. I didn't really like the whole drama with Yuu and Fumina. nice battle though, and I'm still liking the humor. the op is fine but not as good as the season 1 op.

Episode 2
This was a fairly decent episode, all things considered. However, the reservations I had about the first episode have turned into full-blown problems in a couple of areas:
- We've already spent a fair amount of time in anime high school doing anime highschool things. I would be pretty happy to not spend a second more on this setting. It's so tired.
- There's very vague hints about the possibility of a love triangle. I don't expect this to materialise but please, no.
- Blue dude's backstory is pretty awful. He literally failed in one battle and then quit forever? He'd have a hard time doing anything in life if one setback could destabilise him so badly.
- Speaking of Blue dude, his angsty backstory scenes were fucking awful. The original show would directly make fun of this kind of overblown angsty scenes, not embrace them unironically.
- The original GBF was so much fun to watch because it maintained a fairly light tone throughout. I don't need this kind of overblown drama, at least, not so early in the show with undeveloped characters. I know this show is trying to do it's own thing but you can try to pull that tone off later, once you've earned it, not right away.
- Praying Mantis giving his rapey speech was terrible. How is this even in the show? Is supposed to be funny?
- Generally, the show doesn't feel as slickly paced as the original.
- The fight was fairly underwhelming.

Episode 2
That was a pretty decent second episode. I like the more serious tone they're taking with the show. Such a nice change from Season 1. The teenage melodrama might be a bit much right now, but it at least lets me take the story a hair bit more seriously than the dumb mess of Season 1. Fights continue to be pretty fun and I love the wider variety of series Try seems to be covering compared to S1.
Negatives have pretty much all been said. Live triangle stuff hinted at is super dumb, but it seems like the show dodged that bullet at the same time, so I hope that sticks. I don't understand what the hell was going on with the rape-y mantis guy made. I also really hope "we need to rescue Hoshino's mech" doesn't become a series trope. It's totally going to happen, isn't it

Overall, I'd say a much stronger start than S1. It's a show that still has some problems, but I'm definitely able to let those slide a bit easier this time around. Also, seeing Yuu use an Airmaster Gundam in the past just proves he has excellent taste. An Airmaster and a Re-GZ? Fantastic choices. Hope they don't saddle him with crap later in the season.

I don't think Yuuma reason to pouting is unreasonable or lame, he got beaten badly and hit his confidence.. its standard and effrctive competitive motivation and thats fine, this is show about competition and fighting yo.. so I had no problem with the angst related with competitive theme.. its cool and setting up the blood pumping nemesis.
Strange to have a blue haired brother when her bf has blue hair. Like they wanted to hint that he was her child.

Judging by his preference - suits with flight modes and long-range attacks - I would guess Wing as an upgrade, but Build Fighter has already used Wing. Arios, Kyrios, and Age-2 are also decent possibilities, with Age-2 being the front-runner in my mind.
I don't think they're allowed to use AGE designs yet.

Is this season pandering to me? They got a mini shot of a Deathscythe gundam, had a came of Hydra gundam from one underrated IMO gundam wing series and first episode had a giant Musha Gundam. If they are, they're doing a great job.

AGE designs were supposedly tied in some weird copyright stuff with LEVEL-5, but they're on the "vote for a suit to show up" poll, so who knows. No way they use the Wing as a base, since they've used it both with Fellini as well as Hoshino using an SD version.
I suspect that it'll probably be one of the UC fliers still. Maybe an even more upgraded ReZEL or Delta Plus. Zeta or ZZ would be obvious choices. Could definitely see them doing some crazy FAZZ variant. Heck, they could do something even more crazy and create a heavily modified RE-GZ.
Well AGE suits being on that list does give some hope. I would be happy for an AGE 2 custom.

Oh! Also I visited some shops this weekend... in my corner of Japan Buid Burning and Cardigan were sold out at all the shops I went to. One shop had moved the Doms to the GBF section too. Plenty of G-Selfs on the shelves though...

I'd be 100 percent onboard with a Delta Plus revamp. The Zeta suits tend to leave me cold: I'm okay with Zeta, but ZZ, and FAZZ are too bulky for my taste.
