Obviously there isn't going to be a lot of major plot movement until the big tournament starts, so the early episodes are all about establishing things. This episode establishes that Sekai can figure out how to overcome his weaknesses through training, Fumina has an idol she wants to meet again, and Yuuma has some backstory with the other builder dude. Not much teamwork during the fight this time around, though.

Caught up on the last two episodes, 4 was great and 5 was good. Dat Spiegel cutting up those trash 00 suits was too cool.

And 5 wasn't the best but I still find Build Fighters super entertaining even when it's not as its best so whatever. Some of the characters looked mighty weird at points which was hilarious.

At least the boobs were drawn correctly this week, unlike the Gyanko episode *shudders*

Fumina's costume does seem to contrast pretty strongly with the rest of the show. I think I'd be more okay with it if it was somehow justified within Gundam lore. I guess it's standard wear for sprinters or marathon runners, but it only seems to be there to show chest curves and thigh gaps.

Maybe they just went the Kojima route of "this is a sexy costume that's easy to cosplay"

Did they ever put any sort of official info books out on Gundam Build Fighters? Or did most of the information come from Gunpla manuals?

New episode tonight!

The Ez team appears.

Also the kit for their teams suit will be out this week on the 15th.

Comes with parts to build all three versions in the same box! Maybe Bandai is hoping some crazy people out there will buy three so they can build them all...

Is it just me or did they make the female lead and the female rival boobs massive in that one scene outside of the tournament building? Like it was borderline distracting and I normally not bothered by things like that but in GBFT it's really out of place.

Fumina and Gynako do seem to have quite large busts, Gynako moreso but she's a big girl in the first place.

I'm not distracted by it, but it certainly is noticeable.

RIP in peace team EZ-8 you were born into the wrong series

I'm already getting tired of the Build Burning and it's shenanigans. I wish they would hurry up and introduce the main rivals, the show is dearly missing a character like Yuuki to shake things up. Minato isn't really that interesting.

Let me see who annihilated Yuuma already and don't make him a jobber.

Gundam Build Fighters Try Episode 6:

I guess we are just going to have to accept the fact that Fumina is going to be wearing that outfit for the foreseeable future, I am dismayed at that. Anyway, this episode has produced what I would consider to be the first truly decent battle of GBF Try. Probably not coincidentally this is the first battle to finally feature actual team tactics
I was not expecting this to be one big homage to the 08 MS Team, I think I like this. Also, we get the first instance of Fumina acting as a leader even it means some chicanery on her part because she has been saddled with utter shitheads a teammates and then need a deft touch in order to cooperate properly.
Let me see, Gyanko I think has officially hit one note comic relief and her act is horrifically stale at this point. Speaking of stale, the world's lamest rivalry between Kousaka and Sakai continues even though nobody in the universe actually cares about the statue building contest. I think that is an overall problem with Try thus far, we have worse set of supporting characters, but it is still early and it took some characters in the first season a good long while to not be utterly hateable.

Episode 6

Ruler of the Battlefield? More like Roflmao of the Battlefield amirite. I don't think the show really needs to hype up jobber teams if they're just going to get wrecked bigtime. These are just the qualifiers, seems a bit early to pull the "You will NEVER be able to beat these guys!" card followed by the team getting rekt'd as expected.

The fight was pretty fun though. Way better than last week's. When Ral said "it was certainly a fight worth watching" in reference to the previous episode, all I could do was shake my head. Winning's gimmicks really look fun, and hopefully it's all part of kit when it's released. I love the transformation and accessory gimmicks in SD kits, and this one looks pretty great. It'll be amazing if I can fit the Winning Knuckle onto my RG Exia... <3

Episode 6

"And then I punch the ground to blow up all the jamming!"

"What? You can't do that."

"Yeah I can! Sekai has the Jigen Haoh style, and the powerup, so he can punch the ground and make a whirlwind and blow all the stuff away like, WHOOSH!"

"Oh come on. I already let you do that whirlwind kick to deflect the missiles. What's with you and whirlwinds?"

"But he's got the best martial arts and that's why he got the cool Gundam that Sei made so he can use the-"

"You can't do it. Do you realize how much I've already compro-"

"I WANNA DO THE JIGEN HAOH RYU DANGAN HAGA KEN!"

"Oh, fine. But you have to roll."

"... 20! Yay!"

"... No more Mountain Dew for you."

Sucks for that guy getting taken out by a core lander. I'd take getting punched in the chest by the resident Mary Sue than having to deal with that humiliation.

How long do you think it'll be before we get a Master Gundam to Sei's God Gundam. I mean the whole 1vs1 tie breaker thing is just screaming for this to happen.

Episode 6

Jigen Haoh-ing our way to a championship. Ral is still throwing me off.

Destiny next week.

This is exactly what I was thinking as it was happening. Bad way to go.

Ugh.

The episode was fine on its own I guess, mainly due to one team displaying actual tactics. However this episode really encapsulates many of the problems with the sequel.

1. Burning Build Gundam is already hax and one note. Really? He's going to create a whirlwind to knock out the jammers? Really? Build Knuckle didn't become overplayed until at least the World Tournament.

2.The antagonists of the week feel super flat. That's a problem resulting from the team setup. The show doesn't have enough time to delve into any one character so we get quantity over quality.

3.So Fumina exists just to be a powerup for the team members? This might change down in the road but I'm really not happy what they're doing with her. Might as well just have made the show a duo fighting team if Fumina is only going to exist to support the other two. Winning Road huh? Sounds about right. You step on the road to get where you're going.

4.The trio don't have any sort of interesting dynamic nor are they interesting characters in their own right. Sekai is just "Punch. Punch. I need to punch somthing else. Right fucking now." Huge step down from the first season and Rven ignoring the first season, not good characters in their own right.

The show right now is just exhibiting the worst flaws of the first series along with new problems.

Wait, how does jamming work when your teammates are beside you?

Also wouldn't that wired connection be more troubling since it would interfere with the landscape?

It's Plavsky particles, son, I ain't gotta explain shit.

If they actually wanted to play this realisiically they'd all have to wear sound-dampening headphones anyway.

I don't think this is a problem. In a lot of competitive games, especially MOBAs, the Captain of the team is usually playing the support role because they are able to oversee the battlefield better than units that have direct jobs to do. It also supports their role as Captain since they are responsible for keeping and eye on their teammates anyways. Fumina saw the strengths of her teammates and chose a support unit which makes perfect sense to me.

What Divvy said.

It's probably not the explicit purpose of the way the team is set up, but it's consistent with #esports.

Support players rarely shine like the carries, but they exert much more influence over a team than anyone else.

Part of the problem is that they're really not growing as a team. I suppose you could say that Fumina being purely support is teamwork but it's still Sekai and Yuuma just doing their own thing. She might as well just do Winning Road at the beginning of the match and just let the two do whatever they want.

[Episode 6]

I've mentioned this before, but the secret behind the first seasons' success was the excellent script. It was efficient, surprising and it didn't talk down to it's audience. It wasn't a script "for kids". Try, on the other hand, really does have a script that feels like it was written for 'kids'. There's endless recapping of events, endless discussions of everyone's very simple personality traits and a fairly fixed formula to each episode. Very little of interest actually happens at a script level.

It's basically just been a series of route tournament battles with very little of interest mixing things up. Compare and contrast with the first season which would feature unusual ideas like, maybe there's this girl in disguise trying to get close to Sei or maybe we'll go to the beach and crazy gangsters are threatening the hotspring. It just felt like it was awash with possibilities and new ideas. Everything here feels very route.

Not a bad episode but I was expecting something a bit more elaborate in regards to beating these guys since the strategy was technically sound. Though, i guess breaking up the strat then taking advantage makes sense.

Wait, how does jamming work when your teammates are beside you?

I think their explanation would be that the holograms or whatever around them dampens out sound and such. They almost literally touch the controls. Maybe it's tangible or has to do with Plavisky Particles. They never really fully talked about the world Plavisky technology actually came from. It looks like they've axed it from the plot in Try too. No mention of Reiji at all as of yet.

That episode was okay, but it's sad that the season is weaker than the first one.

Some of my friends started to watch it because I told them it was awesome, but they refused to watch the first season.... I wonder if they are enjoying it.

Those eps aren't that unusual nor were they particularly great either though. I rewatched them fairly recently because I was showing a friend. There were clunkers that really only got some mileage because of the initial novelty. The hot springs one and the Kirara one in particular were not that good.

I do agree that Try is kind of revving its wheels in place without going anywhere. It really needs to match the speed of the char/story developments with the speed of the episode and plot. Feels like we're on episode 3 or 4 development-wise but we're at ep 6 already.

Heh, you'll never live it down. The legend of the RG Exia Duckroll custom will e passed down to generations of gunpla fans.

Hey man... his RG Exia died so that mine might live. Read the saga at Enron's behest and took it REAL slow.

The inner-frame was a breeze compared to RG Justice. I saw on reddit someone badmouthing RG (which I LOVE) and had a pic saying 'this is the first and last RG I will ever do." Didn't even need to click the link to know it was gonna be RG Justice. Exia's inner frame is so much better than Justice and Freedom's that I think it should be called RG+ or something.

They are boasting an even better, more solid, more posable, newer frame for RG WZC. Guess I gotta get it. (and, perhaps they are overhauling the line next year, I hope? Saw some interesting silhouettes of some familiar EW MS)

I've accepted that Try is just not going to live up to the S1.

Pretty much share the same thoughts about this show as you guys. It really does not have solid hooks to it other than it being way more competent than... w/e the other one is called. Watched this weeks episode while playing on my ipod something I never do lol. Really hope it gets more interesting.

And this animation/720p nonsense is killing me.

Episode 6

Decent episode. Far better than last week's. It's definitely been said before, but this show desperately needs to setup the real rival teams and set them up soon. We're 6 episodes in and we've got 1 guy who's just a builder, a team we know next to nothing about, a mysterious guy that took out Yuuma and that Gyan team that doesn't even really count. Looks like we should be getting Destiny rival next week, which should help.

Big takeaway from this episodes is how brilliant Winning Gundam is, both on the show and as a concept the creators put in. It capitalizes on what Fumina does best, making her look even cooler. It also emphasizes the whole team play aspect they added to the show, something that Try really needs to set it apart from S1. Hope it keeps working out and cannot wait to see her inevitable upgrade. Maybe something that somehow becomes a whole support base? Who knows. If all the features are recreated, I might have to buy HGs of all the main suits. I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on Lighting, but the Winning System tempts me to grab the other two.
