Kinda shitty after the amazing display the Kouki had. I'd like to see what Minato could do with a custom SD instead of a 20 second straight build, i think my eyes would melt.

Good to see Fumina finally being the one to show off a secret skill that wins the match rather than the guys being the ones to do all the cool shit. I like the battle even more because it show up good her gundam is despite being a cutsy SD Gundam.

Honestly I don't really hate SD Gundams (I did hate the show when it aired in the US) I just feel kind of like this
This, the show hypes up all the cool things SD Gundams can do in that one episode and the big pay off is it's best function is to power up the real Gundams. I liked the scene where she scattered the SD Gundam to avoid getting hit, I was hoping for more scenes like that or other crazy transformations/abilities that would let it shine in kind of a hybrid role where as the other two MC Gundam show off physical and ranged attacks as their forte. I probably wouldn't be so bothered if powering up the other units was just another perk of the SD unit, but it was hyped as THE reason she made it :/
I must say I kind of liked having the breakdown of tournament rules. Because I'm weird and get enjoyment from thinking about the minutiae and game theory of fictional competitions.
- It's odd that you can just have one mobile armor representing a whole team of three but in Season One they let Mobile Armors into single competitions. I wonder if a team could do something obnoxious likes having one member pilot a mobile suit carrier like the Fellini hating guy in the battle royale did.
- Fifteen minutes seems really short for battles, especially if you have some that can start with creeping through the forest like this episode or just hanging out in the water like that ridiculous swimming team. Later on in the season we'll of course get a dramatic timeout battle leading to a one on one tie break fight between (probably) Sei and the Destiny Rival. Otherwise why would you even mention that rule?
- They still didn't really define what counts as destroyed. Just like last season. No simple head rule like G-Gundam. But I guess it's just you have no autonomous, controllable components left standing. So that still makes something like the Turn X that splits into a bunch of parts probably overpowered. Would Winning Gundam still be considered in the fight if the Core Fighter gets destroyed but the attachments are still out?
- There seem to be way more fields this time around.
- None of this matters because it is a show to sell toys.

And yet some of these shows that are simply made to sell toys/cards are often so much better then other anime it's almost unreal.

Speaking of which! I stopped at the local Bic Camera this morning to pick up the new Ez-SR kit and was surprised to see this...
Keep in mind that technically the kit isn't out until tomorrow (some shops start selling day before if they get it in), and it was taken just an hour after the shop opened. Already most of them are gone...
It's also the #1 best seller on Amazon.jp

The EzSR looks a lot like the Slave Wraith in Missing Link.
so the Winning Gundam is 100% useless. His power is providing new bits and pieces to the other two? why can't the two guys build their mobile suits with those pieces from the start so that the third can actually be something else useful? pumping music and kinetic lines cannot hide the fact that this strategy is completely devoid of any sense.
I assume winning can do more things then have been shown so far. What I'm waiting to see happen is how the series handles Build Burning getting badly damaged, but they may be able to hold off with their reduced damage plot device.

In this particular episode it allowed them to blindside the data-crunching guys with new variables that they didn't know about and didn't know how to react to, so it certainly wasn't useless.

Gattai exponentially increases your power. This is a totally sound strategy.
Versatility, so the other two suits don't need to detract from their strengths in order to compensate for the new parts. The first season established pretty well that you can't just fit every system you can think of on a suit. There's probably some limit to how much stuff you can put in.
It's unfair Fumina, the sole girl, is stuck in a support role, but it's like you guys have never played team games. Winning is a walking armory, like a carrier or a SWAT truck.
Anyway Sekai sucks at building and I don't think any of these guys know Burning well enough to mess with it. All Fumina does is probably maintenance work.

Saying Winning Gundam is useless seems really silly. It's fast, it has firepower, it has mobility as a core fighter and ground agility as a transformed SD mech. The fact that it also contains hidden upgrades which power up the other two mechs doesn't make it useless, it makes it even more useful.
Both Lightning Gundam and Build Burning Gundam are very very good at one specific thing, that actually makes them more limited than Winning Gundam across a range of situations.

The problem sekai has with building will no doubt be solved with ether a sei/sei dad or former meijin cameo to show sekai the sprit of building gunpla.
Also stay winning, charlie sheen gundam. Love the support tools + core fighter. Can't wait to see destiny get rekt by burning tiger knee like in the intro.

Sei has to show up at some point. He made the Build Burning... Sekai has been using it but does he really have the permission to do so I've always wondered.
Who's going to repair the Build Burning when it gets damaged I wonder. It has to happen at some point... I don't think Yuuma's skills are really good enough despite being the artistic gunpla champion.
Oh! Also went back to Bic Camera yesterday... The Ez-SR kits were all gone of course (also gone at Yamada). The Crossbone X-1 had sold 1/3 of it's stack (two piles remaining). The Ez-ARMS weapon pack was finally in but those too were almost all gone. The Lightning backpack has been sold out as well everywhere... I can't figure out why that one is so popular. I know it doesn't come with the Lightning itself but still I wonder.

Gundam Build Fighters Episode 7:
Yes, this was by far the best episode of the second series here and the first that really shows flashes of brilliance on par with the first season.
Anyway, this episode was asking some tough questions on the nature of Gunpla fight and had a lot more emotional content and chracter growth then we have seen in most of the fights. Also, this was one of the best Gunpla fights, not coincidentally as Sekai was forced to trade his John Cena moveset for a Ric Flair moveset and psychology now that I think about. I will dock the battle points for basically ignoring the team gimmick because that is what these battles are supposed to be about. Anyway, I was thoughtfully delighted and I am hoping this means the series is going to turn the corner.

Not really sure why they felt the need to job out Team Free! so hard and while it was a neat gag I can't help but feel that they wasted a perfectly good rival team

The Good:
+ I like Shimon as a character, and the understanding between true combatants that letting someone win is a worse insult than defeating them is always a good theme.
+ The final part of the fight was pretty awesome, especially with all the different martial arts moves, the detailed damage degradation in the mechs, and watching stuff break part by part.
+ Really good character art in some parts of the episode.
The Bad:
- Trolling us out of an underwater battle? An insult to all Z'Gok fans. For shame Sunrise, FOR SHAME!
- Cliched as fuck sick sibling subplot. I saw that before in Angelic Layer a gazillion years ago, and probably in a bunch of other sports manga/anime too. It's always kinda artificial and lame!
- In terms of battles this was clearly a match contrived to make it a one-on-one battle within the construct of the new rules. That's fine in itself, but the way they handled it felt really lazy.

A good old one vs one was nice to see, wishing it was a draw but I suppose the outcome was good too. Would like to see more of Destiny and Boxer guy. I'm just going to assume Yuuma's going to be the one repairing Burning Gundam seeing as Sekai aint that great at it, yet.
