A good old one vs one was nice to see, wishing it was a draw but I suppose the outcome was good too. Would like to see more of Destiny and Boxer guy. I'm just going to assume Yuuma's going to be the one repairing Burning Gundam seeing as Sekai aint that great at it, yet.

That's the thing, Burning is supposed to be a piece of work that is beyond Yuuma, it being the work of the legendary Iori Seiji, and having some sort mysterious RG system.

Burning literally popped out from an "shell" Gunpla, so I doubt there is a big box of spare parts.

I think this will continue to be one of the big plot holes of the series.

It is similar to Season 1 episode,
Exia could only be repaired to Exia Repair, despite bringing a huge ass toolbox of parts.
Some of the repair work just don't make sense.

I just worry it will show up again next episode fully repaired without a word said about it.

Considering the next episode is Gyanko's match, there's definitely a break period. I think they will address it. The semi-final match should be ep9.

Oh right, forgot about that

I was so hoping this would happen. I'm content

-_-

I'm happy they finally damaged the Burning. Maybe this could start bringing in some of what made S1 great,

Kinda weird that they show Destiny using the Palm Cannon...with his hand closed. Is he trying to blow up his own hand?
And lol, team FAITH, as in ZAFT's FAITH. Almost missed that one.

The palm cannon was never a logical thing to begin with. What this made it though, turned it into a legit DESTINY FINGER attack, aiming for the face and everything. Destiny can finally join Shining, God and Turn X ;_____;

That was a pretty great episode aside from the cliche sick brother plot. Pretty good fight at the end too.

Destiny still sucks balls, watching it probably gave that kid cancer

Episode 7

I got what I wanted with the underwater team and it went even better than I expected.

The final battle needed to be one on one but the way they went about it could have been better. It felt way too forced. Also, as has been mentioned, they really need to touch on who has been fixing the Build Burning, especially since its taken a significant amount of damage this battle.

The preview for next week shows a nice Victory/Sword Impulse kitbash, but also a return of shitty Zanscare suits.

edit: Didn't know people hated the Destiny suit as much as the show itself.

What do you mean the dude is a boxer on the national level and his brother couldn't even build him the Maxter for him to use. What the fuck kid?! Stop going by your bad taste and build a good gundam for your brother to kick ass with!

Seriously though, that pre-intro gag was awesome. I was hoping something like that would happen to the swim team. The fight was awesome, shame it had to be with that awful SEED gundam but at least it lost like it should. I really liked Shimon and I hope he somehow returns in the future sporting a Build Maxter Gundam or something, that would be pretty great.

Kid is a SEED fan. Best/worst case scenario, he comes back with Strike Freedom

You know what's funny though is that FREE trio was even hyped up, since they were part of the group shot that got an episode's worth of fight and was shown along with guy that has sick brother and the obvious final fight in tokyo match team. Not to mention that quick water fight.

In contrast, was the engineer team shown in the "these are the teams TRY will face" sequence in episode 3?

Pretty good episode, or at last the fight was. I've come to terms with the fact that this won't be as good as the original.

-
Destiny Gundam sucks. It's shit! SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!

I kinda like it, other than the wings.

And so the Destiny Gundam fought better than it ever did in its own series.

Sad but true.

In contrast, was the engineer team shown in the "these are the teams TRY will face" sequence in episode 3?

Pretty sure they showed up.

It's hard to separate the mech from the main pilot, and Destiny had one really fucking shitty character as a pilot. Lol.

Yo, but if you are a Freedom fan, then SEED Destiny is way more enjoyable. People joke "Jesus Yamato came in to save the show" because he DID save the show. Or, what could be salvaged from the train-wreck that was the first half of the series.

I'm a hardcore Athrun fan, and I'm a true believer in Athrun x Cagalli. Watching Destiny was like getting my toenails ripped out slowly week after week. :(

I could see that. I'm a huge Athrun fan, too. My favorite character in Gundam, and I love Aegis and Justice. But, where I support the Meyrin x Athrun pairing, I guess i was quite pleased with how it worked out. lol

I like the original Freedom, but man did Kira need a good ass-whoopin. Shinn's TKO vs Freedom was the high point of the series for me; everything went to shit once Lacus and the terrorists became the focus of the story.

Kira sandbagged, though. He hesitated when he should have just shot to kill. Shinn destroyed like a total of 3 suits to do it.

I prefer Freedom to Strike Freedom, too, but I think S. Freedom is one of the 3 most popular MS in Japan. Double O (QanT) and Zaku II are up there, too.

Is this the Gay beer commercial that objectifies men?

Yeah, the SNL commercial. I thought it was a clever response.

I do like how they got foiled. Some people thought that an all water based team was stupid and I'm glad they addressed that it wasn't going to work out for them.

He clearly went for the kill once he realized Shinn can actually fight back.

I probably have more favorable views of Shinn as a whole because I listened to Seed Destiny radio when the show originally aired -- the VA is a fun talker, and man did he seem depressed about basically being taken away from the lead role thing.

Good episode aside from the cliche sibling plot but it worked as it should, a device to get the main characters thinking and to show that Sekai wasn't a just one-note in personality. Though, I guess he still kinda is but there's a bit more to it now lol. I really dug the head grab and arm lock scene in the ep as it was really reminiscent of G Gundam.

I really hope Shimon comes back later in the season with a custom Maxter though. It makes sense for him to have a unit that fits his strengths.

I thought it was good. Mainly because Shimon was a really good character and partial foil to Sekai. Felt the sick bro plot was well done too and felt natural. Dope one on one fight to boot.

I wonder why they didn't use Maxtor for a boxer. I guess it's not a popular enough suit to sell as Gunpla.

Beat me to it. Yeah, but he's out of the tournament. Unless he comes in during the Protagonist-Is-Down-After-Being-Beaten-Horribly arc.

Episode 7

There's no question that this fight was the best fight so far. The animation and progression recalled some of the best fights from the first season, particularly the battle between Reiji and Ricardo Fellini. Two warriors going all-out, fighting until their machines were battered and broken, each giving their all. One can't help but appreciate it.

It's Shimon the Driller Boxer!

Unfortunately, the writing in this episode handles the motivations around the fight about as ham-handedly as you can. I understand the writers want to hit this particular character progression beat, but it's odd for it to come in a fight with a person none of them have ever met, based on a sob story from their future opponents. Is that how little they care? The way the battlefield gets narrowed to a one-on-one is practically insulting to Yuuma and Fumina.

When Mirai shows up at the riverbank, the sun is setting, but it's pitch-black when she's standing with Ral looking over the river. They sure spend a lot of alone time together.

Everything about this is so on-the-nose, particularly the conversations between Mirai and Ral painting bold underlines beneath the obvious themes of the episode. It feels like the characters are being railroaded forward, instead of progressing organically based on their actions and normal circumstances around them. Good fights are nice, but all of this stuff was done much better in the first season, so I'm disappointed.

Liked the fight but damn, Shimon should've won. How did he not blow off the Burning Build Gundam's head?

Just imagine if he had a custom build, he would've won easily.

Someone please tell me Bandai is re-releasing the regular Destiny Gundam with a Build Fighters logo on it. :lol

Best episode of the series with the icing on the cake being that they didn't waste a whole episode on a gimmicky water battle. I enjoyed the moral dilemma presented to the characters, this was the first battle in the new season where the stakes were high on a different level than just "we are out if we lose this". And of course the final battle was a manly 1v1 no holding back beat down.

The most show of character from Sekaj yet. As someone who follows competitive games, him wanting to go all out despite the sob story made me like him more. Many other Shounen characters would've had two episodes of internal moral dilemma mid fight followed by their flashbacks of their encounter with the other character to ham it in that he is having an internal conflict.

I wouldn't mind the writing downgrade as much, if they spent more effort in the animation department.

But 50% of this episode were speed lines. That's not a good thing at all.

remember being disappointed that Destiny completely abandoned the whole variable megazord formation system thing and was pretty much just impulse gundam with all his shit on his back and seizure gimmick.

Yeah this is what's bothering me the most about Try to be honest. There are some good looking parts but it's really average looking. I guess it's to be expected with G Reco airing at the same time.

Really liked it. I feel like it's impossible for me to actually dislike a Build Fighters episode.

Fight was great, gave me the same kind of feelings Build Strike vs Wing Fenice did(which also happens to be my favorite episode of the first season).

Japan has horrible taste in Gundams confirmed.

Zakus are cool.

RIP my hopes of ever getting updated Shuffle Alliance gunpla.

Probably his mecha for the final battle. Gotta keep the best for last. I mean, it makes too much sense. Why would a boxer not use a boxing gundam? That would be like naming a custom gundam Sengoku Astray and then have it use Chinese martial arts.

I bet we never see him again outside of maybe helping Sekai train for the finals or something. Although I suspect Sekai will battle "Domon" and become worthy of the God Gundam.

The underwater team was hilarious. For all the hype they really disappeared quickly.

This season seems more geared towards older teens. Hoshino and Gyankos tits are like BAZAM in your face. So much waifu and shipping stuff too. Sekais sister is still the bae tho

I dont know why I'm not enjoying it as much as the first season. Then again, S1 didnt get super good until the main tournament started. I also dont like Sekais move names. They sound so stupid like hes just stringing random syllables together. Hate em.

The shows art style and stuff really reminds me a lot of Pokemon. So many of the teams and characters are like the themed NPCs in Pokemon games. Crazy hairstyles too.

JIGEN HAOH RYU!!! (insert same looking punch)

At least we got tatsus and falcon knees out of him so far. Dude needs to level up so he can start throwing hados and shit.

And although I know its because of reasons, self exploration, and eventual plot points, why hasn't anyone shown Sekai video of Sei using Build Burning in the earlier tourney it was in? Derp.

Too busy with the tournament.

Never seen any of the SEED series, but seeing the random ass set of weapons that Destiny has I'm guessing the show was a bit of a clusterfuck

I don't think it's all that random. Destiny seems really set up to chew through huge groups of units, Dynasty Warriors style. Huge Cannon and Huge Sword are both anti-battleship weapons. Backpack provides the mobility so it can actually utilize the sword. Beam boomerangs seem to be more for dealing with close range people when the sword isn't an option or the mid range when the cannon can't be used.

Good episode. Glad some enemy teams are finally getting characterization. Show really needed it. Love the idea of someone going in with a straight build, though something I would like even more would be someone who gives really great, show accurate paint jobs and gets a competitive unit. Show seems to be starting to find its footing, which I like.

In even better news, SD Winning will have the upgrade parts. Probably need to get all 3 Try suits at some point.

The start of both Seed series feature Gundams that can swap equipment. There's three weapon sets, one of close range weapons like swords and (ugh) boomerangs, a set of high powered cannons, and one all-rounder backpack with wings. Destiny just combines elements of all three equipment sets in one.

Yeah, not gonna lie, the Destiny's design and the show are a cluster fuck of writing.

I just realized that all the big notables in the series will get their own kits, so it seems a bit strange that one of the main dudes featured in the opening won't a new kit for Bandai to sell. I'm predicting that he comes back with a customized Destiny just so they don't leave that sweet cash on the table.
