The kits and the anime are all using the same base designs and scales. It's actually something they plan out and design beforehand. The scale works, the proportions are there. The SD size just isn't as small as you think it is. By and large the way the show presents the scales are accurate, and Star Winning is not a tiny mech, it's just shorter than the other two, but it's pretty fat and it's definitely not smaller in width. Obviously there will be some scenes here and there where the scale isn't completely consistent, because this hand drawn animation, but that doesn't mean the logic behind the transformation defies the conservation of mass.

This is a show about plastic model kits fighting, if the actual plastic model kits support a transformation in the exact same way as shown in the show, then clearly it works in terms of mass. :P

Edit: The official designs show very clearly how the mass is taken into account: http://gundam-bf.net/mechanics/21/

The waist is also a very clever gimmick because the short armor skirts are in the front when it's in SD, and when it goes Real, the waist is simply turned around so the longer armor skirts from the back show on the front instead.

There's an image on this very page that implies otherwise ignoring the perception which should make it seem bigger than normal in comparison to the gunplay not smaller. It's also not the only one, and consider, the number of times the gunpla has even appeared that's kind of important. In fact there was a whole plot point that's it's dimensions were significantly smaller then the other two in the previous episode with the small tunnel only it could in in with ample room as well as the numerous shots emphasising it's size I'm not going to photo bomb this thread with similar such images, so take that as what you will. But yes there's a lot to suggest the scales in the anime aren't the same all you have to do is look at the previous episode.

it's not actually surprising that someone would question this transformation based on that/

So, uh...

The uploader has not made this video available in your country.

And all the older episodes are retroactively this way too now.

What the fuck man :(

Yeah the castle thing was so dumb.

I was thinking about the castle thing and the only explanation I could come up was that it was too risky to expend particle ammo magic on blowing up the castle knowing it has underground sections the SDs could hide in and time-out the match, or have the SDs not even be inside and blow up Team Try Fighters after they use up their energy. I haven't seen the newest episode yet though so I don't know how fragile the castle ended up being.

It looks pretty much the same! I think you're underestimating how big SD parts are and how they can look very different when unfolded and tweaked a little. That's part of what makes them so fun to build and play with when the kit has interesting gimmicks designed in it.[/QUOTE]

This is gonna sell like hotcakes, huh?

SD kits are the shit. I think sometimes I like my SD Nu Gundam maybe BETTER than my Ver Ka Nu, lol.

This picture makes me think of the irony of how she of all people was the one asking about Tryon 3's structural weaknesses.

To be accurate, she asked if there was any advantage to 3 1/144s combining into 1 1/144 and Yuuma was the one who talked about the structural weaknesses.

Gee it has a fuckton of GN drives, seems like cheating to me. Does that mean it can trans-am and throw GN drives onto the others so they can trans-am too?

Probably.

Why did he have to send Kousaka to deliver the parts? I mean, Sei can't bother to show up? that just made me look forward to seeing him more. genius bastards.

Also, I didn't know he was Sei's "brother in law"

It would be hilarious of Reiji ended up being Sekai's monster but there's a chance he isn't either. Or he's actually Sekai's dad, lol. Came back to their world in the past or some crazy junk, lol.

I know this is just a silly typo, but my mind started to wander as soon as I read that and pictured Reiji as some kind of up to eleven Drill Sergeant Nasty who was bad enough to cause Seikai to check the underside of his bed every time he goes to sleep.

What is a GN Drive? All I know is she had spinny things in her arms.

Mobile suit generator/power supply basically (from 00 series). The Transient Gundam, G-Portent, Amazing Exia, and that Kyrios have one each powering their suits. It's kind of shaped like a cone usually on the back of the suit's torso and emits glitter. The big thing about GN Drives is it gives the suit the ability to Trans-Am which just makes the suit go super saiyan but still be not as good as artistic gunpla contest winner power up.

yeah... so anyone else totally get this vibe?

That Real mode. Weren't they totally dissing on needless transformation and what not because of the flashiness and structure integrity like an eps ago? :)

What was the point of real mode though? Surely you can design winning beam to work in SD?

well in SD mode, she had those flying bits that I assume each had a generator that she can used for many thing from amplifying beam and making shield etc. in real mode, all those bits are connected to the main body, she mention that all generators connected and she start glowing even more just like Sei's burning gundam, but green. so I assume it just amplify her power a lot more or something.

Damn, I didn't realize I typoed that. >_>

But that image is worth it!

Got it to work by just restarting. Dunno WTF is up with my internet, I often get French commercials..

But yeah, good episode. The show keeps finding ways to 1up itself lol

I've yet to finish painting some gunpla I started almost half a year ago and it's still giving me the itch to buy more D;

I think this is the first image I've seen of the Real mode Star Winning and what the dragon kit will look like. And it does look like you will have to buy three of the SD kits to make the dragon.

Hard to believe that Star Winning will be out in just two weeks from now. I'm still more excited for the Hi-nu Vrabe that will be out next week though.

This thread spoiled it for me, since people figured it out really early. I would not have saw it coming if it wasn't pointed out like a month ago.

From the last thread i learn to never read the thread, just comment on the episode and move on to next week, I liked this week's episode....see ya next week..

Kinda late, but there's a difference between them. Tryon 3 is made up of 3 individual robots with small fragile parts that heavily transform and split in a unique way. Star Winning on the other hand just restructures large solid parts around. I messed a lot with transforming/combining toys and kits so I'm confident about the above.
