You know, you'd think if this show made any goddamn sense that
Junya would have been immediately disqualified for trying to fucking mug his opponent in the street
, but I guess not! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I need a MG Denial Gundam right now.

Saving up dat budget for next week's episode!

It is indeed quite the looker. Wonder what it's based on...

Always reminded me of Legend Gundam without the dragoons.

Episode 19

That was a bad episode. The short appearance of the Tryon was FUCK YEAH. And Star Winning's SD + Real Legs + Leg Blaster attack was really great. Other than that it was one big zzzzz. The flashbacks were predictable, the entire backstory is bland, and everything was just padded to fill out the ep so there could be a cliffhanger. This was just like the first half of the previous two-parter - a big waste of time. Lol.

I did like the final part, when the battle actually started. If the whole ep started out like that, it would have been better. We all expected it to be this way, though. I'd rather have an ep full of baseball playing and racing, though.

Gundam Build Fighters Try Episode 19:

Right, so here is the advantage of having your battles build up naturally over the course of the series, you don't have to spend half an episode on a video package in order to wring out some sort of emotional resonance/ It also doesn't help that Sasuke over here could not be a more cliched rival if he tried. Also not helping is this is yet another instance of the format getting twisted to meet the story. This is a personal rivalry story being told in a team battle, what should occur does not happen so that we can some perfectly symmetrical combat and that does not solve anything.

I actually like the first half, pleasantly surprised most of Junya's dialogue is rather melancholic despite his psycho dude archetype, the chat with Suga is especially good.

The fight also quite fun despite being obviously being "dragged" for 2 parter, but its on way being more balanced than the twins fight I think.

OK i must admit i was kinda let donw by how predictable that was doing untill that scene.

"Sh*t getting real" scene

I just wonder when the heck did mirai learn jigen haoh when she wasn't even in the flashbacks.

Probably at home, we does got told she only learned some basic so she doesn't necessarily need to train intensely at wild mountain.

Episode 19

The way the show dragged the first half you could tell the fight was going to be a two-parter, but Denial Gundam and that reveal at the end were almost worth it.

This fight needs to end with a Shining Finger.

This episode was fun, I knew that we were going to get those flashbacks in the beginning. Fumina's partial transformation was really awesome as well, good to see that kind of mix up. After Pugachev's Cobra I was hoping somebody would pull off an Immelmann Turn or something, would have been ace.

That Guiana Highlands callback was awesome, and so was Denial's Dempsey roll. Still Sekai is missing an actual super hyper mode, yeah we got the fire thing but to me that's just an equivalent to when the God Gundam would open up the backpack wing things. Dude still not on that Super Saiyan level. Finally, goddamn it I want to see the master! Domooooooooooonn!

If he goes gold by the end I'll die! Super Modeo!

It needs to happen, but only during the World Championship in the next season when we get a real Build Burning upgrade.

BELIEVE!

I do wonder if they will ever reveal who the master is. I can kind of see them just going with "oooh maybe it's Domon, maybe it's not, teehee *wink* *wink*" for the rest of the show which would kind of be infuriating.

Watching them stall out this episode with more reactions, cliches, and backstory just reminds me how poor a job they're doing of setting up future fights. There's no meaningful interaction between these characters and their opponents before the episode where they battle, and then the episodes themselves are devoted exclusively to that particular pair of teams. The show has its hype moments in battle, but it has done a terrible job of layering multiple plot lines in each episode.

I'm betting we're gonna see this line of dialogue next week.

but Sekai already lost even in Jigen Haoh Ryu skill, the only way he could win now is through try burning superior build quality, or by saying that his will or passion or whatver abstract is stronger which lead to stronger firepower because of assimilation thing. the point is, it will be from firepower instead of fighting skill or tactics.

I got this feeling the way Sekai win will be pretty unsatisfying, unless he got epiphany and suddenly become a legit skilled fighter instead of spamming street fighter special move over and over again.

I think the only time he show legit fighting skill is when he trap Shimon (the boxer dude) and do a grapple/submission move. even in that fight the end is basically down to who has bigger power output instead of skill.

This was another one of Try's patented "20 minute set up for the REAL right" episodes. It was clear they were basically holding everything back for the main fight, including the animation.

You'll notice how the original series didn't pull this kind of "2 part fights" bullshit very often and when it did the first half was still great.

That Dempsey Roll was so good. Also Star Winnings Leg laser kick.

Probably at home, we does got told she only learned some basic so she doesn't necessarily need to train intensely at wild mountain.

She's older than them though so she might have already finished learning by the time Sekai started learning.

Needs to end with a Burning Finger.

You know it's just gonna end with a punch and you know it :p

Same reason why Gaogaiger found its way into the show.

ayyyy

It's actually from a 00 sidestory where it's the Kyrios prototype.

RIP King J-der. Jobbing for other super robots.

Dempsey Roll and Akira's Hazanko/SPoD was great. =O

I think the biggest issue with this season is that didn't actually try and plan it with a full season in mind instead, opting to do little bits and parts that are compartmentalized. I thnk that's part of what made the first series so good. It set up all these characters early on and had them interact which made each fight amazing.

Try has the necessary characters and the necessary relationships but they didn't spend any time early on setting them up and having them interact regularly, it feels rushed. This Junya stuff could have definitely started up much earlier in the season to really get the impact that this is supposed to have. Or at least have that conflict for Sekai to deal with alone that lead into Junya's reappearance.
