Guy Pearce is in final talks to join Marvel Studios and Disney's "Iron Man 3" as the geneticist Aldrich Killian.

Shane Black is helming the film, that brings back Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson also set to return to the franchise. Ben Kingsley is set to play the villain.

Plot will borrow elements from Warren Ellis' six-issue "Iron Man: Extremis" comicbooks, that also heavily influenced the first "Iron Man" pic, and focuses heavily on the spread of a virus through nanotechnology.

In the books, Killian co-created the Extremis technology that Iron Man adopts after Killian sells it to terrorists.

Production on the film begins in May, with lensing to take place around North Carolina.

Disney has skedded "Iron Man 3" for May 3, 2013.

He'd make for a better Stark.

Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and ScarJo were suppose to make Iron Man 2 > TDK too, remember?

Yeah... No.

Actors can do what they can do best, but if the story and script and direction itself it a piece of shit, no brilliance could fix it.

I was joking.. The point was to say that Guy Peirce is that extraordinary a presence.

After disappearing for the better part of a decade, he's all of a sudden in a bunch of flicks now.

There's an interview I read online somewhere where he talked about hating the roles he was in from Count of Monte Cristo and The Time Machine, so he decided to take a step back and examine his roles more carefully. After he sort of got through that "hating everything" phase, as he called it, he started picking up more movies. He was great in Lockout, so I'm looking forward to him in this.
