Guy Pearce joins Iron Man 3

Yeah, Kingsley probably is playing the Mandarin, just a more updated version.

This movie sounds like it could be a mix of the Extremis and Haunted arcs

so are they going to pretend all the mystical magical stuff from Avengers isn't real and go back to the grounded-future tech reality of Avengers 1 and 2?

All is forgiven after 2 if they can get this right

Jackman is worth it as Wolverine just for that roar.

It's really not that hard to roar.. Rage 101.

I don't know in what universe Jackie Earle Haley is more imposing than Hugh Jackman.

Jackman is a handsome sweetheart with a meany face at best.

Hardy still has a good 6 inches on Jackie and a bigger, more athletic frame to go with it.

But to each their own.

3-4 inches. JEH, 5'5 1/2'' vs TH, 5'9. So just imagine it if Haley bulked up for the part.

This is a man with a rough history.

Cheadle can usually be a charming funny actor have no idea why he acted like he had a severe case of stick up the ass in Ironman 2

He had to continue what Terrance Howard started. And it failed because they are two completely different animals. You could feel that Howard's character had a responsibility to him and how Tony's behavior would irritate that, creating some quality amusement. You don't get that with Cheadle.

I think you're missing the point of casting someone like Jackman in the first place.

That's a great observation.

I thought Howard was actually the better choice for Rhodie. Shame that he and Marvel couldn't agree on compensation.

After seeing that most of the cut scenes in Iron Man were Terrance Howard's, I wonder if there were more than money issues that prevented him from returning in Iron Man 2.

The thing about Jackman as wolverine is that he is recognizable. His cameo in X-Men: First Class was amazing and he didn't evenness to show his blades or act like he was wolverine. Everyone knows that he is, and Jackman loves to reprise that role any day, unlike other actors who start demanding more or ditch the character completely.

Favreau and Downey reportedly did not get along all that well with Howard on set.

Terrance Howard:

“‘Iron Man‘ happened with that. Marvel happened with it. They made a choice. They made a very, very bad choice. They didn’t keep their word. They didn’t honor our contract. They sent everyone out into a field and told them to work and produce a great bounty. You produce a great bounty, and then when it’s all in the storehouse, you are not allowed into the storehouse.”

“They did the same thing with Gwyneth [Paltrow], from what I’ve been told. They did it with almost everyone, I think, except Downey throughout the thing. One of the things that actors need to learn to do is take a tip from Friends [whose cast members all held out for higher pay]. You always choose to stick together. One for all and all for one. Our Gang, you know? Let Spanky be our rule.”

“Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to it. I want to see what happens with that. I want to see Don Cheadle become me. I want him to do better than me. That’s what I really want to see. I think he can. Don Cheadle is the reason I got on Crash. He was one of the producers on Crash, and he called and got me in there. So it’s like Don is good by me, anything he does. He’s given me the greatest gift I could ever imagine having. Don gave me that, so anything I have, I’ll share with him.”

The reason Howard wasn't brought back for Iron Man 2 is because he is a hurricane of fucking crazy. Dude is notoriously difficult to work with and has been since his career started. Dude has talent though.

When you look at the scene where Stark asks Rhodes if he wants to blow his dice, that is Downey improving. The reaction is Howard's. That's the shit I've heard from someone that's worked on both films. Hilariously, they got rid of Howard and then hired a entirely new and more dangerous form of crazy in the form of Mickey Rourke. I've heard the shit he was doing and some of his "demands" were hysterical. No specifics tho :(.

The cockatoo was all him(Rourke). He thought that him having a pet would bring out the human characteristic in Ivan. He also had the production bringing in photos of his deceased dog to help channel some emotions during scenes. All of it was basically useless though because Mickey didn't even try. The movie used maybe 3% of his potential.

I recently watched the Extremis motion comic on Netflix.

Doesn't Killian die in the first minute? Is this going to be another small cameo for him like The Hurt Locker?

Coincidentally, Rourke has bad mouth Marvel as well. He's talked about how he created all of this awesome performance as the villain and Marvel cut it all out.

I'm starting to see a pattern with Marvel and it's stars being shafted.

Thor went the "magic = advanced technology, gods = aliens" route so there's not really a conflict

but no, there aren't an Avengers crossovers here.

and they thankfully left out that magical fantasy crap from the first 2 films. So is their going to be a sense of continuity with the 3rd film? Or can we expect 40 foot green men and demi-gods

A suit of armor that can do what Iron Man does is just as magical as an irradiated scientist and alien race that are treated as demi-gods.

The fact that you think Iron Man is more "realistic" is hilarious.

Could you highlight my post where I said Iron man was more "realistic"? Thanks

Sure.

Am I misinterpreting?

So, where did i say Iron Man was realistic? I specifically said a grounded world with future tech. Hulk whether you like it or not, tonally, would have been a very abstract addition to Iron Man 1 and 2. And this is why Iron Man still stands as the strongest Marvel Studios film.

Guy Pearce is like the prostitute with the heart of gold that no tentpole director wants to invest more than one roll in the hay with.

I don't see the difference, you're splitting hairs. And completely wrong.

Jackie is 5'5''. Jackman is 6'2''.

Oh you're like a little baby daddy Wolverine.
It's a little baby Wolverine.

wolverine is supposed to be 5'3.

whats your point?

Edit:beaten badly.

and while the extremis storyline is what made me hate Iron comics, i think its perfect for a film. I just don't like how stark is essentially a cyborg now, it takes away from the "self-made superhero" persona he once had.
