Only saw Gwar for the first time ever few weeks back (their 2nd ever Australian tour?).

Was really looking forward to catching them again sometime in the future. One of the most stupidly fun gigs I ever went to.

Really bummed if true.

So fuckin bummed to hear this tonight. I saw GWAR at Sounds of the Underground 05, and there's still a slight bit of the green blood on the hoodie I wore to it to this day. Really wanted to see them a second time but never got the chance

What the fuck. God damnit. This is really fucking shitty. It sucked when Flattus died, and now another member of Gwar found dead? What the hell is going on!? Gwar was such a huge part of my childhood, me and my buds went to see them at least 4 times. I guess that's it for the band then. You can get another guitarist, but Brockie's vocal style and lyrics were truly one of a kind. Man, I feel like a part of my memories have died and gone forever or something... terrible news.

Crap. I didn't like (or rather, didn't have any interest in, since it's not my sort of music) GWAR, but he seemed like a nice guy.

He had a funny story about how he (and the band) were into D&D, at least until they got better looking groupies. But he still liked it, and wrote a D&D module a couple years ago (which is how I heard of him in the first place).

My wife woke me up to tell me the news. Fucking heartbreaking. We were just listening to their newest album yesterday and discussing how much Gwar doesn't fuck around. You will be missed Oderus.

Man, this is really sad. He was one fun-ass dude.

I loved the X-Cops :(

This is so sad. I wasn't the biggest GWAR fan but I really enjoyed reading all of his columns. RIP Dave Brockie and safe travels back to your home planet Oderus.

Seeing GWAR live still ranks as one of the most entertaining experiences that I've had in my life. He'll certainly be missed.

I don't know anything about GWAR other than I shot many men in the testicles to go to one of their concerts.

RIP

GWAR by far is the best live show I have ever been to. I am not even a fan of metal. I love Jam bands and I have been to some freaking amazing concerts but GWAR hands down was the best ever.

I went to my first GWAR concert in middle school and have had a chance to see them 6 times. I took a lot of people after my first show and made it mandatory that my friends wore white t-shirts with stupid drawings of whatever... (so that the blood/puke/slime) would stain the shirts making them official GWAR concert t-shirts.

I still have one of my T-shirts with stick figures, aliens, penises and exploding cows covered in GWAR concert mystical ejaculation and blood. Many a random stranger has come up tapped me on the should and said "That must be the remains of a GWAR concert" it makes the child in me happy that so many others know the magic of this amazing band.

This news makes me sad. As I highly doubt there will be a band that will pick up the mantle of what truly makes GWAR great and continue the experience for years to come.

I remember a pit in Petaluma with friends, maybe 20 years ago, with a giant burly Viking of a man in chain mail to our left, a guy decked out in hockey armor to our right, and a skinny dude in a full, spotless white business suit behind us.

When we left that small venue we were sore and covered with all manners of glop from the hair down but we had the biggest shit-eating grins ever.

We'd also missed our bus back into the city, and so had to kill time at a local 7-11 playing Gauntlet until sunrise while the kid working there just stared at us ;P

Saw them twice after that - they were something else man.

Safe travels back to your homeworld, Oderus/Dave.

Even angrier than normal that I've missed them every time they came to Atlanta.

Just talking to some some coworkers about this. Damn ... RIP

Besides, GWAR ... DBE had some classics too. Haven't listened to the full catalog, but Diarrhea of a Madman was in heavy rotation with some of my friends back in the day. Funny ass album.

Sounds like Dave. The man pretty never said no to anything lol. God he was a funny mother fucker. And even though I am not a huge fan of the music, it is A LOT of fun and they always had a killer time.

Fucking terrible news.
Dave was a smart, sweet, brilliant guy, nice to almost everyone who was not an asshole first.
Marathoned some Holliston and listed to some Gwar and X cops.
Really fucking terrible to hear this.
