I'm not a big fan of excessive violence, and the fun killing cops and going to strip bars in GTA fades after a few seconds for me, so in general I tend to think sometimes violence/sex is used for shock value to gain attention and not much more....

so I'd been avoiding the Kill Bill movies even though when I worked at Best Buy last summer it was huge when Volume II came out... everyone was buying it and there was all this hoopla...

I just heard about the bloodiness and all that stuff and thought I wouldn't like it...

but I saw the movies today and they were actually pretty good... I liked both of them, though I felt they were quite different... the first one was action and blood and the 2nd more story and dialogue, but overall I liked them both a lot, perhaps a little preference for the 2nd one in a way, though I think the 1st movie is more fun...

I love the way the movie is action, drama, and comedy... very carefully directed and written...

I don't think I've seen a movie by the director yet (though I heard jackie brown got good reviews, at least I remember Roger and Ebert raving about it, and since then I've been interested in it)...

one of the few things I can complain about though is the fact that Vivica Fox only came out for a few minutes and thats it...

Go and rent these movies ASAP:

Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Natural Born Killers
True Romance
Jackie Brown

And yes, Kill Bill 1 & 2 are amazing movies :D

Your ass, to Blockbuster, now!

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and the criminally underrated Jackie Brown are must sees.

EDIT: Beaten to it.

Also, keep in mind that True Romance was written by QT, but not directed by him.

1 question:

'Uma' wakes up from the coma and immediately says: "Two years! Two, whole years!". I mean how could she know how long she'd been in coma?

Also, if youre really looking to get all QT's work, then you also need:

- My Best Friend's Birthday (his first film)
- Four Rooms (QT directed 1/4 of it)
- Sin City ("special guest director" of the car scene)

I found Kill Bill to be utterly pointless. I felt like I was wasting my life away watching it. Though I like pulp fiction, QT is so very over-rated. I think that Uma Thurman is a good actor, but in Kill Bill, I was not convinced with her character. In Volume 1, she had the emotional range of a plank of wood.

The only part I liked in it was the anime sequence.

What the hell do people see in this? Is it that it has QT's name on the box?

I have loved everything QT did before Kill Bill... And after seeing Kill Bill Vol. 1 I left angry.. not even close to his normal work...

Seen Kill Bill 1.. did'nt bother to watch the second one. Everyhting that made QT's movies great (resevior dogs, pulp fiction) was NO WHERE TO BE FOUND in Kill Bill.

It was there in the 2nd one. Seriously. The 2nd movie was much more like his other stuff.

I loved both to death. I love QT's movies, although I believe Reservoir Dogs is a bit overrated (Switch a few scenes around into a different order and it could've been much better), Pulp Fiction being amazing along with Jackie Brown. So yea, go see his other films NOW.

Yeah Iamthegamer pretty much nails it. I also left the theater after Kill Bill vol.1 cheesed off that it was nothing more than an Evilore Yu Wo Ping Pong Balls choreography wet dream, and there was no Michael Madsen.

Kill Bill vol.2 had so much more personality it isn't funny.

I still enjoy them both, but I could really have done without the fight pre-loading.

I'm hoping there will be a special edition released at some point, because my friend was all hot to see Michael Jai White in a non-shitty big budget movie; but his scenes apparently got cut. I recall seeing some photos in a movie magazine in Borders one, may have been Fangoria, that showed White getting his ass beat down by Carradine.

Until you watch Lady Snowblood and realise that Kill Bill was a copy of it, down to complete story, most scenes, camera angles (all the cool shots from kb were lifted from LS), the training sequence, the 5 characters she has to kill (even down to how they are and act) the chapters with titles, EVERYTHING. I know that the movie was suposed to be a hommage to older asian movies, but there's a limit. Arghggh

I'm a little surprised to see people give up after Volume 1. Really strange when Tarrentino has said all along Volume 1 is action and Volume 2 is more story. Volume 2 is closer to the traditional Tarrentino style, I guess. I liked the whole saga.

After I saw Volume 1 + 2 I went on a Tarrentino DVD buying spree. Reservior Dogs is vastly overrated. Pulp Fiction is great and Jackie Brown is pretty damn good.

PS- Where the hell are my Kill Bill special edition DVD sets?!

I never understood why The Bride's name is 'censored' in the first one and partially the second one...

Loved both movies though.

''My name is Buck, i'm here to fuck'' :lol

That guy looks like one of my teachers :O

I thought the same thing about v1, and I still hate it. But my mom saw v2 first and liked it a lot, saw v1 afterward and didn't care for it, and tried to convince me to see v2. I wouldn't budge until she finally bought it for me and mailed it to me a month or so ago. Hint taken. There's much Tarantino goodness in 2.

To symbolize her journey from a nameless, ruthless assassin to a caring person, and a mother.

I'm not going to say anything more than that the Kill Bill movies are fantastic pieces of cinema in their own right. You'll simply have to excuse my lack of defense here: between enjoying Apple products and Billy Corgan's music, I'm always on the wrong side of the GAF tracks. Regardless, both movies stood as my favorite movies of their respective years, or very near the top and I think that whomever said that the KB movies lack what made QT's movies great either holds a very different opinion of what makes QT's opinions great than I do or just wasn't looking hard enough. The omission of Jackie Brown in that post also makes me think that the poster may not have seen that movie, which was a fairly notable change of pace from RD and PF.

PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS oh god i am drowning in them
I went out and bought KBv1 on DVD, watched it and then went to see v2 in theater right after. So I really enjoyed it that way.
I had gotten Reservoir Dogs with the KBv1 DVD but didn't watch it until a while later. (After I had picked up Pulp Fiction and watched that again, love it.) Reservoir Dogs is my favorite out of his stuff. Jackie Brown being the least favorite. While I get what JB was going for (and do quite like it, don't get me wrong), I just felt something was lacking, or out of place. I dunno, something felt off.
Anyway, I think they're all fun flicks to watch, love the stuff.
Reminds me though that I can't wait for Sin City on DVD.

For the most part, the Kill Bill movies had 4-5 dynamite scenes that made up for all the other schlocky mess. Its worth seeing it for it's moments of brilliance.

That's what made Pulp Fiction such an anomaly for QT. The entire movie was brillant. It just was awesome from the word go.
