Hafthor The Mountain breaks the deadlift world record

We just haven't been given the opportunity to train for this at the same level as those with male privilege! Otherwise men and womyn are just the same!

505kg. 1113lbs.

I haven't been following this recently. Is there anyone active in powerlifting who could conceivably challenge this at some point with a 506kg?

My impression now is Shaw is too old, Hall nearly freakin' died when he pulled 500kg, and there wasn't anyone else active who was anywhere close to this level. Seems like this might be a record that's going to stand for years to come?

Also, JFC dude... 👏

He cheated? I hadn't heard about that. What happened?

He didn't cheat. Some folks online said it wasn't a valid record because the pull wasn't at a competition, it was at a private gym. Others said there was potential for cheating because his dad was moving the plates and maybe he could have swapped something to make it less than 501kg.

While it seemed to me they were going a little overboard, if I were trying to set a world record, I would want to eliminate any possible doubts. I would want to do it in a competition environment with a reputable federation. Seems like he just did that here from what I've been reading, so good on him.
