if you really want to buy this, do it now cause compusa deals go out of stock pretty quick

Just got the last copy from CompUSA. Those fuckers at CompUSA can't even sort or doesn't even bother to the games, I have to look at all the shelves to locate it, and once I found the last copy it wasn't even anywhere near the $19.99 Half-Life label. This was like 10 minutes of waiting after asking a sales clerk and he said he will be right back.....

Does anyone know how to disable steam? I don't want it to run in the background when I am not playing CS:S.

I ordered the Collector's Ed from Amazon, though last Friday it was $34.99.

Can we use that middle finger pic for these Collector's Editions since they're ultimatley worthless?

Maybe HL2 is not selling that well, relatively speaking? Game hasn't been out for a year, and it's already the same price as the Starcraft Battle Chest.

Fucking Steam!! First, I keep getting errors that it is not online even when there isn't a firewall blocking it!! Then when I somehow got it to start updating, it does it slowly!! 10 minutes and my progress bar hasn't even pass 1 percent!!. Argh.

They're probably liquidating the vivendi published version since EA is going to publish the "game of the year edition" in the near future. EA won't have to worry about it competing against a lower priced version.

Yeah, I had the same thought, but wouldn't Vivendi have the final word on their published version?

Well I think their deal with Valve ends on August 31st, so they cannot legally ship more copies of Half-Life 2 to retailers since the publishing rights transfer to EA. Until then, they can basically price it however they want. Maybe this is an effort on their part to sell as many copies as possible in the next few weeks. But if it's just compusa pricing it like this, than they're probably just getting rid of their current stock and wont order any more copies until EA/Valve have the deluxe edition available. But seeing where buying HL2 for $20 lets you play CSS and HL2DM already (DM is only like a 30MB download on steam, not counting extra maps that have been released), they're gonna have to throw in more than just DoD source to make it worth it. Maybe they'll do HL2 + DoD + Aftermath expansion for $59.99 or something.

More whining about Steam. After finally updating Steam(not the game, I still have to update that, oh the joy), I have spent the next 20 minutes trying to create an account.... and NO SUCCESS!!! Is Steam getting hammered now or something? I keep getting an error 200.
