Not at all. My original post was based on what I consider to be fact. Most people are spoiled by super high res and lightning fast framerates that their $1000+ PC can offer when compared to a measly $150 console.

Im excited to be able to experience this game since I dont want to waste money in upgrading my PC. However I do believe thats its not on par with FPS's coming out for the PS2 and Xbox in the near future for obvious reasons that have already been stated.

Solid game nonetheless.

The environments look great, but as with the PC version it starts to fall apart with the character models (gman aside).

Thing is, I think the DOOM 3 conversion looked more faithful to its PC counterpart. Which strikes me as odd, as the DOOM 3 engine is more taxing of hardware.

Then again, Vicarious Visions DID go through and rewrite a lot of code just for Xbox.

Anyway, not bad - just maybe not as great as I'd expected.

For the love of everything holy, why is this on the original Xbox? It would have made a killer launch title for 360 but instead it will be a dumbed down PC game released at the end of the Xbox's lifecycle.

Dom 3 was also almost purely an achievement in engineering, using technology that was designed from day one to run on Xbox hardware. The beauty of HL2 isn't dependant on technology as much as it is dependant on design. The detailed models and the high(er) quality textures are obviously lost on Xbox, making the game lose much of it's visual appeal.

Doom 3, Riddick and Halo 2 have the best graphics I've seen on XBOX I think.. HL2 can't even hope to compare to those. Looks like a launch title or something..

This version of HL2 looks decent enough. I'll be playing it if the frame rate is good.
