Missing Link is a pretty cool mod. It's impressive how much work its creators put into recreating those old concepts and assets.

Most eye opening/sad was how scripted/faked the reveal gameplay demo was...easily broken if you dont follow the script

Well, yeah, it was meant for demonstration purposes. I just assume everything we see at E3 is scripted.

A lot of the areas from the show did make it into the final game, though most were significantly modified.

Wow, I just read that Gabe has acknowledged how much he annoys the fan base with the hl3 silence... Two years ago...

At valve we care!

Also, OT needs some black mesa love

Black Mesa absolutely lived up to my expectations...really cant wait to play the full steam version coming 'soon'

I love that not only is Valve cool with Black Mesa's existence, they're allowing the developers to sell it on Steam.

How often does that happen?

Just found this channel, pretty interesting stuff in there. Like some bits about the Houndeyes, don't recall noticing them.

Marphy is one of the biggest and most knowledgeable Half-Life fans I've ever had the pleasure of talking to. He's also one of the admins over at the Overwiki linked in the OP.

I recently started playing Half-Life for the first time. I'm working through it pretty slowly and in quick bursts, due to RSI/hand pain, but I'm having an enjoyable time nonetheless. It holds up pretty well even by modern FPS standards, so I can only imagine how mind blowing it was at the time of release. I'm curious, are there any good articles about what innovations and trends Half-Life started, or in other words, what FPS games were like before Half-Life? Most things I've read have simply said it's responsible for "everything" about modern FPSes, but I assume the genre didn't jump straight from Doom to Half-Life.

BTW, I asked this on another forum but hadn't received a reply yet so I was wondering, is Half-Life: Source only for the original Half-Life game or does it work with/effect the expansions as well. I tried to Google the answer and it seems it's made only for the original HL but was wondering if it effects Opposing Force and Blue Shift as well?

Also, not necessarily related to HL, but Mike Shapiro, the voice of G-Man and Barney is back. Voicing Oracle from Dota and from what I read he does have a "Prepare for unforeseen consequences." line :p

"Ponies! I see ponies! A terrible vision indeed."

I don't play Dota, but I like this hero.

I'm here because I want to say that Portal series is my favourite VALVe work and they may be my favourite western games of all times or something.

Please, develop single player games again. I'll be waiting forever.

Thanks, XOXOXO, bye bye.

Releases Friday too. I've been waiting 3 years to replay HL2, it's gonna be sweet. The added world detail will help so much, HL2 looked downright empty at times.
