Yes, the nurse was fine, but I'd like some gravy with that doctor

Can you imagine going into medical school to save dying children or normal people and instead you end up having to deal with people like this? LOL

Is it somehow, someway possible, as miraculous as it would seem, for you people to look at a fat or obese person and NOT insult them?

How does a person get that big without conscious decision to be fat? I think around pound 450, you'd start to think it's time to cut back.

He obviously has made a conscience decision to do something about his weight and I think that is admirable for someone is his position. It's so easy to make snide insults and I'm guilty of it sometimes too, yet this is a particularly simplistic way of looking at the issue. Hardly ever are psychological or genetic factors taken into account, nor are social aspects like mindless consumerism and endless advertising. The point is, there are a hell of a lot of reasons why someone gets to be such a size, not just because of eating food and nothing else.

he will get fat again

Impossible. He'll get and stay thin or die. Gastric bypass surgery surgically reduces the size of one's stomach, so they basically live on liquids for a few months, work their way up to eating something the size of an egg, and eventually get to the point (after a couple years) where can they down a slice of pizza or two. My guess is he'll last a couple years, then burst his stomach.

No, he ate until he couldn't possibly eat anymore:

"Deuel had been bedridden since last fall and was malnourished because so many of his calories came from foods high in fat and carbohydrates.
Deuel had difficulty breathing and suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes linked to obesity that his doctor said were killing him."

But it's not just his fault. Someone brought him piles and piles of food each day once he was stuck in his bed.
