it's beta. And now that i think about it - if this is indeed SD footage the game looks pretty impressive. SD footage rarely looks this clean.
 
Haven't seen the video yet, but judging by those shots, and the fact that it's the multiplayer mode of an UNFINISHED game, it looks great. If we get graphics like these (but probably a bit better) with a high, constant framerate, dozens upon dozens of characters, veicles etc. on screen and massive environments, then I'm more than satisfied.
 
Wow@the retarded "Halo 2" comments, even after watching the pics of the better-quality vid...

The lighting, water, sand, seawall, greenery etc. are incredible-looking, damn... and there are some obviously unfinished stuff (as in, no doubt they aren't final) like some of the rocks and walls - as to be expected from an unfinished game...

Love the way things pop up on your HUD when you pick them up, plus the "boot up" of your visor HUD - nice!

Sniper scope w/ night vision looks cool too... in fact, so many cool things in there that there's too much to talk about!

BTW, good job posting pics for those without the vid Tieno!

I'm off to watch the vid a couple more times again befoer I hit the sack!

I'm using the one that was linked in this thread. I'm getting about 70kB/s (max would be about 200kB/s), I only got something like 12kB/s from Megaupload.

It changes constantly. It's not the same for everyone. I only had 5 or so at the beginning.

Campaign levels are gona be huge if this map is anything to go by, perfect for 4-player co-op...(make it happen bungie!)
 
Just watched video, and wow! Looks so freaking cool! Loving the bubble shield and mongoose! Wish he used the Spiker and actually killed someone though lol.

Only things I'm hoping will be improved in Final game is:

Sand needs to adjust to steps and tires, ect.
And better graphics overall.

But game does look ****ing sweet. But right now, I know it's still Beta and it will probably live up to Halo 3. But right now, as Beta, it doesn't live up to the last Halo game.

Ive been running at 8kb/s download for about 30 mins now... would taking down my firewall be worth it, or just open me up to hackers :P

yes, his fifteen minutes of anonymous internet fame so you impatient folks can see the beta a couple of weeks early will certainly help him through the downtime. perhaps he'll set up a paypal account so you can show your gratitude by helping him feed his family. ;)

Well, to be fair, I'd say it does look slightly better than H2, graphically. I don't think it's anywhere near what people were expecting from a next-generation Halo, though.

I fully expect the beta we play to look exactly like this footage.
 
I realize I'm getting picky here but I really wish he would have used the "power drainer" (item picked up at 2mins 30seconds). Video looks great though, very impressed in the direction this game is going.
 
I'm glad he leaked it to be honest, but wow... The guy who did this was an idiot. He thought he was smart for blacking out the score board and other things, but he let every single gamertag show up besides his.

He's probably fired already, but what the hell:

Map - Last Resort
Mode: Team Slayer (4 vs 4) to 25 kills
Final Score: Red team - 25, Blue team - 21

Was killed four times by NutzSquirrel and twice by Master Sig. Got 3 kills (El Sweepador x2, NutzSquirrel once).

Gamertags in game:

garyc (W48) - red team
jimmyfargo (F95) - red team
XMAC (K62) - red team

El Sweepador - blue team
Master Sig - blue team

Leaker certainly made it very easy for Bungie to find his identity. All they have to do is look at the game viewer and find the one other gamertag in the game (which would be his).

If you have configurated your firewall to let the program through, it probably wouldn't help at all. Definitely would not recommend it.

Can you connect to the tracker? I had some difficulties at first (and it seems that I'm not connecetd at the moment either), but then it started normally. But I think that you'll get it quicker from Megaupload by now.

From what I've seen of the pics I really like the improvements they've made to the sand (it actually looks like real sand now), lighting the water and the skybox.

I wish they'd show more of the SP.
 
Just watched the whole video. DAMN. Looks really nice. The water is really impressive, as is the lighting. This looks way beyond Halo 2 in every way. Not saying it's the most impressive game I've seen (it isn't), but I played Halo 2 the other day and it looks like shit compared to this.
More than anything, that vid just makes me want to play the game.
 
Since they are playing the beta, does this mean that this map (Last Resort) is going to be in the public beta? Because there were only supposed to be 3 maps in the beta, all new ones, so I guess the most logical explanation is that they are playing a newer version of it.

Would have been really cool to play on an updated Zanzibar in the beta though.
 
I hope Power Drainer is a placeholder name. I haven't the foggiest idea what it is or what it does, but it has to have a better name.

He never used it unfortunately but we know it's Equipment/a deployable.
