And yes, I have just downloaded the larger version (took me about an hour, but I did it), watched it, and my opinions haven't changed. It looks good. Not as good as I'd hoped, but it's hard to tell from the shitass capture.
Still, the sand looks amazing, the grass is all wavy and not bullshit 2D sprites like some "HD" games out there. And the water looks sweet. I'm so going to get slaughtered during the Beta, just standing around and staring at things.
And Jesus, juniors, could you quit making us non-idiots look bad. Halo 2? Do you realize how stupid and fanboyish that sounds?

I've seen the footage in a higher resolution. To me it looks better then PDZ and not as good as kameo. Basically it was like.. everything that you see looks very nice and polished for the most part, but it just lacks the life and lush graphics newer games have.. hopefully it improves over time.
I also didn't find the water that great looking, still, the graphics look alright and fluid enough, so i'm looking forward to seeing the game on my own tv.
Of course ill be considered a 'troll' despite my avatar and love of halo, go gaf go!

I speculated that it needed a name change. Too utilitarion for my tastes. I mean, why not call the Mongoose the ATV, or the Warthog the Armed Personnel Carrier with Chunky Tires?RPS37 said:
As for its function, I would have guessed it's somehow a mechanism for cancelling out bubble shields, but evidently it killed someone in this video (I haven't seen it yet, but I thought I read that in this thread). Perhaps it's some sort of proximity mine?

In last week's update, Frankie mentioned the 3 beta maps are a lot more polished than any of the others. Some of them are only geometry complete. Obviously this is a bit further a long than that but I would expect the beta maps to look better as they would have had far more polish than this.

Finally finished downloading there (was only gettiing 28k/sec) and I think it looks really nice, considering that it's a 4:3, 480i composite video capture.
The lighting is the most obvious upgrade over the last game - the HDR is really well implemented. I bet it looks great in HD, and I would be expecting 720p, not 1080p.
I just hope I enjoy this one more than the last. I loved the original Halo, but the sequel was a letdown in both single and multi-player, in my opinion. I have a feeling that Bungie will get this one "right" though.

I don't think people should feel bad if the guy gets fired.. I imagine people like that probably want to be fired, otherwise there would be NO reason to release a beta video while attempting to conceal identity (you can't even gain forum cred at that point!)

Well I won't pretend I know how these betas go, but you should be a bit more careful to avoid your 'kid' from accessing confidential information as well. Sadly the story behind the leak will likely never be told.

What is with all the graphics hatin'? Multiplayer has run 4-player splitscreen people. That's a butt load of polygons.
