On the topic of new maps, I'm dying for some remakes and some new content as well. A 50/50 split between new and old would be great. But I hope any new maps aren't more Forerunner maps. I liked the originality behind Foundation and I'd love to see more Earth maps with varied settings. You know, before the planet was raped by the Covenant.
Some observations and comments on Halo 3's multiplayer and matchmaking that I would like to see addressed as the game moves forward. Constructive criticism follows.
- The Battle Rifle seems quite a bit different. I owned with it in Halo 2 but now it feels a lot different. Can't pinpoint it exactly but...Some people definitely seem to be more skilled with it than others. I think headshots may be a bit different now.
- The Shotgun feels better than Halo 2's for sure. The Mauler is pretty inconsistent though. I've seen some people hit people with it from a mile away.
- Put the Trip Mine back on Valhalla! Not really sure I like the Ghosts on High Ground either.
- One-Sided VIP is...Well. Bad. To be quite honest I liked VIP better in the Beta when there was a simultaneous offense and defense aspect to it. In general I think Matchmaking needs more simultaneous offense and defense gametypes worked in. It mixes things up.
- As far as upcoming maps and DLC goes...We need one really small close combat map like Midship. And maybe one more really large vehicle based map like Sandtrap. And
the ending of the game puts a Boarding Action remake in view! Make it happen! Team Snipers and BR madness!
I believe that the BR is now perfection, in halo 2 there was no need for another gun and spawning with a BR would let you kill anyone anywhere on the map, basicly.
Now its like a great medium ranged gun, up close the AR is going to have a good margin of win unless you can land every burst around the head area, and speaking of that the head hitbox using the BR now is not a joke, congrats bungie!
has there been any sort of official word on whether or not bungie can implement forge creations (such as the b.net favorite rocket race) in matchmaking (social or otherwise)? i love me some rocket race, but it can be hard to get a good sized room full of friends that want to play...
For those interested in figuring out how to unlock the Recon Armor: I just tried having the Arbiter, who I was controlling in split screen co-op, kill the crazed Marine instead of having the Chief do it. It didn't work out, no Recon armor yet.
Glad to see a multiplayer-centric thread out there. I'm working on my own gametype variant and map companion as we speak for Sandtrap. It is, of course, vehicle-centric and its purpose is to force players into wide scale vehicle warfare. The gametype is called "Heavy" and the map is referred to as "Grounded." Both are currently on the first two shots of my file share and here are some images showing the scale of combat and some of the vehicle layout.
Starting weapons are rocket launchers/hammers and there's several pieces of vehicle-handy equipment on low respawn counters. It suits anything 10 players and up so its great for people who want to cater to a higher number of players and its completely different than the experience you're going to find in matchmaking right now.
So far we've had a reasonable amount of fun on these maps and its interestingly balanced.
Since the campaign thread (I guess that's what we're calling it) is locked right now, here's a timeline I gave a shot at earlier today of the 30 major events which surrounded the launching of the Halo Array 100,000 years ago as described in Halo 1. It covers all key events from the time before, the reasoning behind, the time after, leading up to and beyond the events of Halo 3. Let me know if you guys spot anything out of place via PM. Thanks.

I've seen it stated several times that they can put forge creations into playlists. Either to fix 'problems' or to implement community faves. No word on when they might be doing this though.
One large map I'd love to see in any future DLC is a variation of The Storm: Have two bases/warehouses on either side, a deep chasm on one side and a huge wall on the other with a drained lakebed terrain in between with lots of nooks and crannies to hide and battle in.
One problem I see with the design: Some care would have to be made to make sure that it would not be easy to just snipe opponents at one base all the way from the other. Oh, I know. A partially destroyed ship like what appears in the campaign level with several vehicle paths underneath and maybe with a 'ramp' or two that if you time it just right you can leap over the top with.
So, with this post I've doubled my Online/Matchup Forum post count. Exciting.
Stinkles, nice job with the thread. It reeks of win/Scottish.
I hope the other thread opens up again soon. I was looking forward to ONLY talking about Campaign instead of what the MLG dicks are doing. I'm waiting...
About multiplayer: WHEN WILL BTB BE RANKED OHNOEZ!?
I've played Halo 3 on more than one 360 and on each one there is noticeable stutter when you turn as opposed to the silky framerate of Halo 2. It's distracting.

You have posted this on many many threads and at every opportunity you had including those fanboy discussion threads that had nothing to do with Halo3. and yet, nobody else has the same problem. Maybe you should not be quick to generalize this is a Halo 3 issue.
also, if this is an MP issue, maybe you have a connection problem. If this is a SP issue, please send mail to a mod, ask them to unlock the Halo 3 SP thread and post there..
and we thought we will have this thread on subject. Fat chance.

The only thing I had was two HUGE stutters at random intervals during either MP or SP. It was more prevalent when I first purchased the game. I broke her in so she treats me pretty good now.
It's been "breaking" off and on since a few days before the 25th. I finally caved in and sent it off. Now, I only have a Master Chief helmet to look at for the next 3 weeks. :/

I've noticed it. In fact, I noticed it in a saved film last weekend. I was flying around the outside of Epitaph, checking shit out, and when I would turn left or right quickly, the motion was very choppy. I don't notice it too much in regular MP, but to tell the truth, I don't notice a drop here and there. It seems fairly smooth to me typically.
During the recent bungie.net stats outage a lot of my pictures didn't succesfully upload when taken. Now that things are working more or less is there a way to go to the pictures saved on the HD and upload them?
I was in there (numbers joined me actually), I saw you leave but I don't think you got booted or anything, dunno. It was pretty crazy, there was way too much going on and there was some lag issues, might have had something to do with that. It was nigh impossible to kill anyone except with an assassination, so I doubt you got booted.
Something network related must have happened. I was at the scoreboard screen for about 2 minutes before I got dumped into my own Custom Games Lobby with the settings.
Shotty snipers is one of the most hilarious awesome things ever.
I haven't played with any GAFfers yet, I don't know why you folk are ignoring me. Add me! Kojikun.

Hey, how is TrueSkill calculated? I've played 17 ranked matches and 9 social matches, and my skill level is 10. I'm a Sergeant with 22 exp, is this pretty good?
