looks like I have a reason to come to the Online thread now,

I have been loving custom games at the mo, Classic Zomblie with a big bunch of GAFFERS is great.

Always up for customer games with GAFfers.


What customs are people playing, rocket race is good but its overdone.

Hey guys, can one of you help me out with my emblem?

I would like the pirate with the cowboy hat, but without the swords - how do you do that?

I've seen people with it so it can be done but I just can't work it out :-(

Im in work so i cant check this theory but i would imagine it has something to do with the background color and the sword color. If u can get them matched maybe it would appear as though there are no swords.

Probably talking out of my ass but work is slow today :(

It sounds like you can't unlock Recon from within the game. Bungie have to award it to people in some way - possibly they could give it out as a prize or a gift or something.

Ugh, that playlist update sucks.
I love objective based lone wolves, I love Shotty Snipers, I already thought that the game was struggling with 12 player BTB.

I bet Bungie is going to ruin Halo 3 the same way they ruined Halo 2, hey guys nerf the shotgun and increase the carbine strength back to beta levels! :D
But why are there no flame grenades in ranked games?

You press X to toggle the emblems second layer. For instance the Cat has a bowtie that you can turn on and off, and you can turn off all the secondary pieces of the emblems this way, which is to say NOT THE BACKGROUND, but the elements, like the plasma grenade on the spartan helment, the crossbones, the swords etc.

That's my suspicion too. I guess we'll have to wait until someone spills the darned beans.

Wow, now bungie.net has updated with most (but not all) of my missing games, and my highest skill level is accurate, but now it's saying I'm a Captain Grade 1 with 125 exp :lol

How do I download some forge created maps? The only ones I can find are bungie's favorites, and that's just three maps.

You have to access them from someone's file share. You can initiate via the applet in the friend's list or through Bungie.net (same with pics, gametypes, and video).

But you have to know who has what. There is no central hub save the Bungie Favorites right now. I'm sure the community will step up sooner or later and you'll see some kind of rated list form where you can submit your entries.

This has somewhat to do with multiplayer... maybe stinkles can answer, but any possible chance of the weapon lowering trick being allowed for use on Live? Is this a bug? Intended to work this way?

I love that there no longer is a monster thread that I have to follow. Its much easier to remember that the last page I read was page 4 and not 580. :D

From what I read, I believe its locked but not deleted. EviLore put it "away" to give this forum and thread some attention.

I was playing Tsavo Highway on legendary by myself last night. It's really easy if you can jack/acquire the wraith that appears after fight the waves of brutes dropping from phantoms. That part wasn't too bad with some sniping and battle rifling. Good thing they give you lots of BR ammo. Fighting 2 wraiths and a bunch of brute choppers in a single wraith is a blast. Only 6 more levels of solo legendary left...

Anyone experienced any sudden drops in rankings last night? Quite a few people on another forum have gone down a few grades, myself included. Probably to do with the problems the server has been having latily?

Kinda sad that the official thread didnt reach 30k responses, but then again, it doesn't really matter. However, Ghaleon was making a great job of updating the OP. I don't see Stinkles doing that.

No drops but i was playing some doubles with a friend who was ranked a 17 (while i was a 12) and by the end he was a 26 and i was a 15. he was jumping up by two ranks every win while it took a couple for me to go up one. Kinda weird but meh...

I haven't gotten on the actual game today, but I was a major last night with something like 235 exp, and now on bungie.net it says I'm a captain with 125. If I just lost half of my exp I'm going to be pretty ticked. I'll hop on in a few and see.

I remember that Stinkles wrote an article long time ago about how it was bad for a low level player to party up with high level players in hopes of ranking up faster. Does anybody have the link. I have been partying up with my friends who are level 27- 30 and we keep winning, but only they level up. I keep staying at my 17 rank.

I just checked, in-game I'm still fine; it still has me as a major with 262 exp. Just for some reason on bungie.net it's completely jacked up (it had previously shown me as a major as of like 12 hours ago).

By rank you mean rating and not skill level right? Then yes. Checking Bungie.net this morning shows me as a Gunnery Sergeant Grade 2 with 65 EXP, but I'm actually a Captain with 100-something EXP. Looks like they added in the games from the 5th (but still not the 7th), maybe they're recompiling the data or something, whatever that means.

I'm experiencing the rank lowering too. I've gone from an Officer (70+ exp) to 35 exp. Yay :lol A few more games have been added though.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was skill level 10 and my buddy was 12 and by the time we stopped playing I was 17 and he was 30.

EDIT: It wasn't Team Doubles. It was another playlist.

Believe Luke mentioned something along the lines yesterday that ranking up with friends that were a lot higher in skill would go slower for you since they wanted to prevent the boosting of players. Dunno, but that seems like whats happening.

Ok, I have an undocumented problem. I don't remember when exactly this started happening but it was probably around the 2nd or 3rd day I've had the game. Every time I launch the game, whether its from the dashboard or directly when I startup the system, I have trouble with matchmaking.

I go into matchmaking, start looking for a match and I get disconnected after 2 minutes of searching. If I back out before disconnecting I get the failure message in the matchmaking lobby (you know, the one that mentions the "Halo3 server"). And if I open my friends list, none of the gamerpics load or profiles or player info in my recent players list. Eventually I get disconnected.

If I just sign into Live again while still being logged into my gamertag's profile offline it will give me the same failure messages and have trouble loading anything in the other lobbies (resulting in having anything I select renamed "Blam!"). So to get it to work I sign out of my profile and log back into Live and I'm ready to go. I have to do this every time I play Halo 3. Guaranteed.

This has only ever happened with Halo 3 and my NAT settings always reads OPEN. So what's with this weird annoyance? Frankie? Luke?
