So the guy that accused me of shotgun glitching sent me a message back explaining what the glitch was, apparently meleeing someone immediately after you fire a shot is a glitch. :lol

I'm surprised you didn't realise what he meant.

Sure, it's not a glitch, but i think it's silly to be able to immediately melee after a shot like you can with shotty/mauler, it's overpowered in that respect imo.

I do use it myself (it's effective :p), but i think it should be changed a bit.

It's been like this in EVERY Halo, it's the key to using the shotgun effectively, give me a break.

It takes twice as long to do as a point blank shotgun blast which in ideal circumstances would be instantly fatal. I fail to see the silly.

I want to just to make sure I'm not the only here but aren't there too many Halo threads around here? They can be annoying to find and keep track of.

Dudes, you've got to up the respawn timer on Maulers or reduce the amount on maps, every Lone Wolves I play, the entire fucking party has one, it's ridiculous. Also remove KOTH and Oddball from FFA and put them where they belong, Objective, which really needs them.

You know what I want? The second you pick up a sticky grenade, the game should automatically set that as the grenade that is going to be used. It's annoying having to click the left bumper to select the sticky after you walk over it. It should select that by default. We all know the sticky is the best grenade in the damn game.

I know someone else mentioned it earlier (Ramirez?), but has anyone else had any problems with stickys going through the shield doors in Snowbound? I never had it happen before, but when we were playing tonight it was happening consistently, what the fuck :(. Also twice now I've had a sticky on someone that fell off after a second or two, and once where it just didn't exlpode and stayed on him.

I stuck a guy in the head last night, it was on his head, I died, and it doesn't detonate. I've been havin' some pretty miserable experiences the past couple of nights.

Fuck man, Lone Wolves is TERRIBLE, I'm sick of games with only 3 opponents, up the cap.

Yeah I get that a fair bit, I stick a guy or drop a 'nade at my feet to take them out from the grave and... nothing :(

To be fair, i haven't played mp in any other halo game, so i wouldn't know :p

Same here, but i normally assume i'm just lagging, since my connection can be dodgy sometimes.

Ugh, last night was bad. It felt like it was impossible to get a good positive K/D ratio for most of the games I played. Sandtrap especially, cause I have no clue where the weapon placement is still :/ Quite frustrating, especially when most of my team-mates that night were so moronic. Although, I think I made up for it with the last game I played, got +27 K/D spread, with only weapons (no warthog or banshee).

Little repost because no one answered this on the previous page...

Ok, I think Forge is kind of buggy. I've placed a single spawn point for a third team (i.e. me in green) while there were two other teams present consisting out of at least two people (red and blue). I haven't touched the other default spawn points in Valhalla but no matter what I do, I won't spawn in my "own" spawn point I've assigned on the map. Anyone have an idea what I should do to make mine actually work?

I'd guess the phantom stickes, and stickies through shield doors are netcode/lag artifacts.

The saved films seem to be "From your xbox" this time around, instead of the beta, where they were the Servers record.

So what are your guys stats like? I'm a Captain Grade 2, a 36 in Lone Wolves, 35 in Team Slayer. My K/D Ratio is currently 1.33 which is higher than it was in Halo 2. My top three tools of destruction are Assault Rifle, Melee, and Sniper Rifle.

Anyway, anyone else frequently frustrated by the way melee exchanges go down? I've had some of the weirdest things happen. I'll melee a guy twice, and he won't go down, and he'll turn and melee me and I'll die. You hear two crunch sounds and everything. My roommate has similiar things happen.

If you switch the the exact gametype you want, you can create spawn zones for different teams. Are you doing that? Maybe there is a conflict between zones and points. I dunno. Something to check.

I spent three years saying the latter about H2's Rumble Pit on the Bungie boards.

So I finally had a lag-free BTB game with 16 players in. Funnily enough, it was the very game I hosted!

About time I finally got host. 15 players with 6 green bars, 1 player with 5 green bars ... if only every game were as good.

In terms of KD ratio, my ranked is currently 1.92 (though it could be a lot better; I'm averaging at least 4:1 in recent games), and my social is currently 2.54. Again, that could be better, but it's more accurate.

My missing games are ALMOST all back now. Obviously this hasn't been an easy automated process - since it's been going on for 4 days. So thanks to the guys in the trenches over there.

Also - FFA Oddball and KOTH rock. I wish they hadn't lowered the frequency with the last update. I also want them to bring in some all Swords and all Rockets. What about some Infection in there?

FFA oddball works on maps without gravity lifts or whatever its called, no matter what way you chase them they still get away half the time due to them, even grenades up the lifts are too slow.

Oi. I've the same issue. I was always a big Rumble Pit fan, and I initially took to Lone Wolves well. I've played it a lot now and it often feels like I spend a lot of time looking for other players instead of actually fighting them.

godhandiscen

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I have a problem with my stats and I don't know if this is common. According to my profile page it says that I am Gunnery Sergeant Grade 2. However in the game it says I am a Lieutenant Grade 2. It even shows in the Enlisted Rating page. Also, all my games are up to date. And just by adding them up you can tell that I have more than 85 experience. However according to the game I only have 65. Also, I swear to God I have never quited a game in my life, but according to B.net I have quited 2 games. The game is awesome and the stat tracking system is really complex. I am not frustrated yet because I know that in a couple months everything will be running fine. I just want to know when.

A friend of mine shot a spike grenade out of the air with the machine gun. Is this new to Halo 3 or could you do it previously?

Well, I don't remember the spike grenade in Halo 2..:D

I remember you used to be able to shoot grenades in Halo 2 though.

Right ok I only been playing this game on and off since I got it, like a day break now and again but this is it, im sick of the melee lags and missing sniper shots that are lined up correctly. halo 2 never gave me this much trouble online.

Me and someone can fight, we both or at least I do dive in for a melee the moment I can, lay the hit and hear the noise to find half a second later I die and his shield is not gone at all.

And yes I am playing on 5 green block ping.

It's like i'm cheated away for half my kills due to this kind of delay lag stuff going on.

It does, but the "win" on a pixel/nanosecond identical melee goes to the strongest player. Which is fair.

Maybe that's your problem with melee?

Had a nice session of Team Slayer with my bro today. 8 straight wins. Granted, we're still moving up (I'm only at level 14 so far), but it's still nice to get that many wins in a row. The most fun game was our last one, a 3 vs. 3 Shotty/Snipers match on The Pit. I guess it's just 'cause I never played Team Slayer back when Shotty/Snipers came up way too much, but I enjoy it.

1 sided VIP really is a terrible gametype:

1. The VIP now has a waypoint, meaning you cannot use stealth to help win (your only real defence)
2. The VIP does not have an overshield
3. The rounds end after one kill
4. The time to complete the objective vs round time is completely unbalanced. Surviving for 4 minutes when you have an entire team after you is almost impossible, no matter how good your team is. You only have to die once after all.

I don't know how this got through testing. It has the potential to be great:

1. Give the VIP a 2x overshield
2. Make rounds end after 3 or 5 kills, or seriously reduce the round time (I favour the former)
3. Don't limit VIP to 1 sided VIP. A VIP for each side works well as well!

With an overshield, the VIP can also be used strategically, instead of cowering in a corner waiting to be blasted to pieces in seconds. If you use him offensively, he is more powerful, but equally a bigger target.

Likewise by increasing the kills per round, it would make the game much more interesting, and reduce the chances of drawing. Good teams would kill the VIP more than once, but in it's current state, it's very hard NOT to score.

I heartily agree about making it regular VIP. When both teams have a VIP, it totally changes the dynamic of the game (in a positive way). You have to try to balance attacking the other team's VIP with defending your own, making for a much more interesting game.

Another no brainer move that should have shipped that way or been fixed in the beta.

I was having a heated discussion a few days ago about the sword and how cheap it can be. Though my argument fell largely on deaf ears, I stand by my claim. I encountered another cheap tactic again today and saved it. It's just a 7 second clip. If someone can download it and tell me how I could have avoided death I would appreciate it.

My Bungie.net profile

In the clip, I turn a corner and come face to face with a sword guy. I immediately start backing up. I throw one plasma grenade and miss. I get a couple shots from my Assault Rifle off, but he finishes me off pretty quickly. I could have killed him with the plasma had it been on target, but he still would have had time to kill me before it exploded. I don't see how I could have avoided death. I was running backwards as soon as I saw him but, because the sword has the lunge attack, he was able to catch up with me. I don't understand how people can say this is a fair tactic, that it has any skill behind it. Just seems cheap to me.

Anybody up for a Legendary run tonight? I want that achievement.

I am. If the you're still interested? If anyone else would like to go through legendary, hit me up. I need the Meta-Scoring Achievements for Covenant, Cortana, and Halo.

I got to host last night's Player One Podcast game night, so I gave my two new map/game variant combos a whirl. Zombie Defense turned out to be a lot of fun, but it was Corridor of War that stole the show. I had forgot that it was set to two 10 minute rounds, but that was apparently not enough for the squad.

Along with those two (described below) is also my own take on Bungie's Rocket Race, which involves and changes some things. Players are also armed with brute shots, which increase the chances of sending rival mongeese into the stratosphere. The northeast corner (I presume) is also a haven for fusion coils and other such explosions that have a tendency of setting themselves off (not by spawning in midair) thanks to the gravity lifts strew about. Its a high traffic area that results in some hilarious mayhem as players get thrown a quarter of the way across the level from the massive explosions, and also helps others get shots off on opponents attempting to speed off into the sunset. Two warthogs occupy the level, giving some extra vehicles to use in case you lose your mongoose. The risk in taking warthogs is that your VIP cannot aim as well and you move slower, however, you are much harder to take down by enemy gunfire. Waypoints are much wider and are positioned around the perimeter of the level, making for a much faster gametype with targets that are on the go, as opposed to trying to go off-roading. To top it off, teleporters are set up to take players to the high towers of the map, where they will find other weapons to cause chaos with. These positions are in place to give something to do for players that have just joined a match (with no teammate or an extra wheel on a two person team), lost their teammate, or are the inevitable "I'm tired of this and want to do something different" crowd. Its turned out to be a hit with the group; so much so that it would seem that 70% of my matches end up being it, since I'm a glutton for taking requests. Anyway...

• Corridor of War
– Map Variant and Game Variant
– Map: Sandtrap
– Type: Territories
– Recommended Number of Players: 16
Two teams vie for seven territories, spread out along Sandtrap's middle strip. Any player foolish enough to leave this area will instantly lose their shields and be unable to inflict damage outside of the odd assassination. Once a player re-enters the territories (captured or not), they will return to normal. Two rounds of ten minutes hold a battle of tug of war that will constantly go back and forth. Both sides are equipped with a heavy assortment of weapons, two mongooses, and a Chopper to use in their fight against the opposing team. Be aware of the stray player that will decide to drive the Elephant into the battlefield, creating a swarm of chaos. Also be on the look out for spies that detour round the map to attack from behind; they are easily dealt with if you catch them before they set foot on your land.

Screens:

•Zombie Bunker Defense
– Map Variant and Game Variant
– Map: High Ground
– Type: Infection
– Recommended Number of Players: 8-16
Humans spawn within the bunker that rests beside the gate and spartan laser. Any way out has been sealed off, forcing the entire fray indoors. Along with their infinite ammo shotguns and assault rifles, humans also have flamethrowers and flame grenades. The flamethrower is great for taking out hoards of both zombies and humans alike, so watch how you use it. Zombies spawn by the indoor entrance to the pipe, surrounded by teleporters that take them to the action and a trio of flares that are not useable by the zombies that start the match (any more zombies that spawn, including the initial ones, will be able to pick them up). Remember: if you are teleported outdoors, you are at the entrance that requires you to open the hatch to drop inside. It is surrounded by short barriers. A melee attack will open it. Do not bother wandering around the level, as there is no other way inside to the action. I noticed a few people getting confused at this point, so I just wanted to point that out.

The match requires humans constantly stay on the move, as their radars will only display the location of their allies. The last man standing gets a point bonus, speed boost, and a fully-functioning radar to help him cope with the last few seconds he has to live.

I've played almost 200 online games now, and have not once encountered that map.

It comes up all the time in Lone Wolf. I don't think I've seen any objective games in it yet, though.

Consider yourself lucky then.
I can't stand Epitaph, and the vast majority of people groan when it comes up.
