Ugh, the light blue Pioneer visor is so sexy, there's just no blue armor colour close enough to match it :'(

The baby blue is a bit too pale and the cyan has a bit too much green in it.

Yeah I was a bit confused at that. As soon as I realized they scammed everyone and made them (or at least the potential of using them) exclusive to people with DLC, I turned away from that game and never looked back.

Gears is much more dependent on dedicated servers though. Without them, it's one of the worst multiplayer experiences around. With them, eh it's okay.
 
I just checked my billing info and the email is different than the one I actually use to sign into XBL. Am I boned? It looks like my Specialization code was sent to a very outdated @Comcast email that I no longer have access too. I've been playing since launch day. This is a HUGE bummer. ):::::

Calling it a scam is pretty accurate, yeah. Me and my buddies had the DLC and it was still a crap shoot. The only console shooter to almost handle dedicated servers right so far is BF3.

Developer provided servers with a list and the ability to rent your own is how it should be.
 
Finished the campaign on Normal yesterday. ~7hrs. I'm planning to go 1000/1000 for this game so this is just the start.

This game stands next to The Witcher 2 as the most beautiful X360 game out there. I was actually dumbstruck at the level of IQ and set pieces. B E A U T I F U L.
I found the story somewhat subpar, but since this is the beginning of a new trilogy, I'm not that bothered by that fact.

And then I started playing multiplayer. Lost for words really. The most amazing first couple of hrs in any multiplayer game EVER (sorry Gears 3). Everything fits just beautifully. Loving the loadout scheme, progressions and unlocks. I have a great crew to play this so I think I'll play this game for a looooong, long time. \o/
 
What's wrong with region filter in this game.Im from Europe and I constantly play on USA hosts .Or maybe only us players play slayer pro?

for what I see it's like there is no region filter, I always get american hosts and it's annoying in gunfights, feels like you need to shoot the other guy once more then he has to shoot you.

Their is almost always a power weapon available for the really tough encounter just look around the battlefield for them and fly high when you get banshee!

Just take it slow. Pick off enemies, take a breath and push forward. Probably the easiest Legendary campaign so far.

Also, NoobCombo(Battle Rifle + Plasma Pistol) works wonders on Elites & Knights.

I think the issue is the Scattershot. The bouncing projectiles don't really seem to be an effective tradeoff for its inferiority compared to the Shotgun. It just feels less effective.

the nice thing about the scattershot is its fairly rapid fire. so, when your first point blank shot doesnt kill for some reason the follow up 2nd or 3rd will. of course, the shotgun rarely is as inconsistent and therefore is a better weapon IMO, but the scattershot is still beastly. you can also use it at further out knowing it will take a few shots to down someone whereas that would never be recommended with the shotgun.

not sure about mm system but I played a couple of games online and I did pretty well. last time I played halo online was on reach like one year ago, this community is ez.

the game needs quite a few matches to determine your skill to match you appropriately. enjoy the scrub cannon fodder while you can.
 
Thanks for the tips! My only Legendary playthrough of any Halo game was Reach and I loved it but it was pain in the ass sometimes (Nightfall anyone?).
While playing this game, I thought "man, this will be a pain on legendary..." but I guess I'll take it slow and methodical. BRING IT! \o/

I suppose. I just love the Boltshot because I know if the enemy is within my inner reticle, he's going down--an issue I've always had in later Halo games was not really having the same innate feeling of when a shotgun would kill or take down shields, etc. That might just be my personal playstyle, though.

I still think that if you were going to attempt better balance with the Boltshot the solution lies in beefing up non-loadout CQC slightly, or maybe dropping one mag off the default ammo so they've got two less potential blasts to use.

(If you've got Promethean vision you're able to predict when they're going to try and blast you fairly easily--the expanded 'flaps' on the side make it fairly obvious. For that reason and the ability to judge when people are campaign with power weapons, I think it's the best AA on small to medium maps, bar none.)

Nightfall's the easiest of Reach's missions to get through, since with a bit of practice you can pretty much run the first section and then forklift glitch. Even if I play it safe and clean out the first two areas it takes me less than 15 minutes on Legendary.

Good for you. I figured out you can pretty much run through the whole mission...after I spent ungodly amounts of hrs cleaning the whole level up. *sigh*

see, for me, the boltshot is waaaay more inconsistent than the shotgun or scattershot ever is. most of the time the charged shot is virtually useless and barely seems to hurt them, regardless of how close i am, yet i seem to get mauled from 20+ feet out by others. i hate to be the guy to blame lag, but i'm aware my internet is awful, so thats the easy scapegoat - but seems to fit.
 
Did someone here have the list of specializations and what slot they used up? I want to go for the gunner mod now that I have nemesis but worried it will use the same slot

Yeah, I'm guessing connection issues are the issue then. XBL loves me, so I don't have much of a problem.

If I miss with the Boltshot, I usually blame myself for not anticipating where they were headed and aiming high or low. But when it works for me, it works--got a triple kill with overcharges in a KoTH game yesterday.


Would it have been too much to ask to let those who purchased the war games pass receive the specialization codes? I'm in the UK and have no idea when ill get access to them.

I imagine like many LE people here I saw the gift and entered the code without realizing what it was for. Woulda' made it rain codes if I had known (or checked GAF, FUD, or HBO before my email.)

Played a lot over the weekend. Had fun, but encountered quite a few bugs. All of my loadouts reset themselves, and I didn't notice until I had already started a match. Luckily, starting with the AR helped me with the daily challenge but it was still pretty weird that they would just reset like that.

I also still haven't received my codes. Do you have to be in the US? I have a US Xbox with a US Live account and a US region copy of the game, but I live in Japan. Am I gonna have to wait? I'm about to hit 60 and I'd really rather do the Pioneer specialization before Operator. This system kind of sucks. I love the game otherwise, though.

I'm pretty sure you can log the other players as guests instead of using their own accounts.

What would be better is if the X stays on the enemy until they kill someone else, so if they are being a turtle they are shown for longer, if they go kill someone it removes the stain above their head, seems fair to me.

When you get other abilities which are always there, having one which shows your killer for 2 seconds over the other side of the map seems a little pointless, but I will say it has helped me once because I knew he had no shield and was in DMR sight on spawn.

My personal favorite is the teleporting assassin. I've watched a guy do his best nightcrawler impression and kill 3 people in a row all by assassination.

I just been thrown into a game in progress, constant black screen with scoreboard, every few seconds it would select new host and the team scores would go up, someone is playing with their phone ringtones over the headset and I can't mute him because the game gives you no menu control while selecting hosts...

ugh.

i swear now you are just making shit up. haven't once noticed "tons of lag compensation", being shot when already in cover, or worse netcode than Reach. Starting to think a lot of this is all in your head.

It doesn't have to be in their head. They may just not understand how to set up a network properly.

Played some Reach last night and I think 85% DMR bloom is a good compromise for the DMR. You can still spam it but you also have to pace your shots correctly. I think this adds a layer of skill to the game, and I think it would help cut down on peoples complaints about the DMR being overpowered, particularly at range. 85% bloom plus de-scope was a good idea. Bungie almost had it right, i think
