Halo 5 Multiplayer Coverage! (no campaign spoilers)

Is the 30fps animation only a campaign issue? I'm not seeing it in multi

Totally different type of overall problem than AI animations.

You've got behaviors going on too. At least that's my ignoramus understanding. Somewhere Berger is SMH

It's back, Madness can shut the fuck up now. ;P

First time they've actually shown it.
dat sexy SPNKR

Is it really. That bad? The DMR is a long range weapon... Someone better equipped should generally be able take him out before he gets to use it..

It is kind of strange that it's not one time use though...
I see what you mean but i think the biggest problem one could run into is a guy charging them through gunfire and insta-killing them. That's not even considering how quickly spartans can cover large distances with the new abilities. Picture this: you unload on a guy who sprints, slides, jumps and melees you...through your bullets. It's totally fine, imo, for the shotty or sword because of their power weapon status but being able to spawn with that...idk.

Bottom line is this.

It is very important in a game featuring micro transactions to give players competitive options for free/low cost. If powerful unlimited use cards did not exist then you have a scenario where f2p/casual players are either playing at a disadvantage or forced into paying for micro transactions. That's bad game design and not enjoyable.

By giving us powerful options like the DMR Bayonet and a pretty generous amount of req points after matches the system seems fair. You will be able to do extremely well in Warzone even if you never spend a dime on req packs.

So yea the complaints over the DMR bayonet are completely misguided if what you seek is balance in WZ.

On Hysteria's 60fps stream where he is currently playing warzone the promo enemy was animating at 30fps at medium pistol range, it's nothing bad but you can spot it among 60fps spartans in the same room easily.

*edit* in fact I swear I just saw an enemy spartan player sprinting at 30fps too, the price that must be paid for a smooth game, hopefully limited to warzone and campaign.

An AI boss on the snowy warzone map is called "Commander Lochagos". That's literally "Commander Captain". Who makes up these names?

Shit, that doesn't sound good.

I swear 343 just posted them in a bulletin or something but I'm not able to find anything online at the moment. Screenshots aren't uploading through Xbox either (smh), but here's some barnyard potato quality.

Don't recommend the Default layout.

Thanks for this. I'll be rolling with the Halo 4 layout. Weird that they changed the name to 'Halo 4' though, 'Reclaimer' sounded cooler in the MCC.

I don't mind the default layout so far, need to test them all out though.

Really hate having sprint on A so Bumper Jumper is a pain for me.

I understand your concern but at the higher req levels (as has been explained to me in this thread) players who don't spend money need constant access to Weapons that will allow them to hold their own against people who are able to purchase tons of req items.

So in a way, having gons like this actually balances the game, not the other way around...

On another note: Bumber jumpers is almost perfect, but even after a year of fooling around with MCC I still can come to grips with pressing B to reload, instead of X... Why'd they do this?

Sprint on A is just going to have to suffice, but I don't like having to take my finger off the joystick to do it... But there are so many actions, I can't think of a better place for it; Crouch needs to be on LS so I can pull off crouch jumps.

I need the elite controller

Can someone explain Warzone for me? AFAIK, it's 9v9 and you can call in requisitions. But apparently there are AI guys too? Are they like creeps? And what's the objective?

I'm really impressed with how well this game handles. The gunplay feels very polished so far and none of the new abilities come off being superfluous. Maybe slide is a bit redundant to Thrust, but you can still Thrust after a slide, which leads to unique combos where you can move within encounters. I'm not noticing any aim acceleration, but strafe acceleration does seem a bit slow. Beyond that, the controls are sublime.

They are so well integrated not only into the default movement mechanics, but also into the level design that even running through the same area a dozen times (after getting wrecked on Legendary) feels fresh. I can only imagine how that will translate to the multiplayer maps.

The ONE thing that is getting on my nerves is this goram controller. I can't get a feel for these sticks and I think mine is just borked at this point. Will probably just have to pick up a new one to see the difference.

Best feeling Halo game.

There's two objectives. Either, be the first to reach 1000 points or destroy the enemy's core. To destroy the core, you have to control all of the bases on the map, which lowers the enemy's core defenses allowing you to attack it.

You get a point of each Spartan kill and you also get bonus points by killing specific AI targets.

The problem I'm seeing at the moment is that some people don't really go for either objective, they may capture a few bases but not bother with the core, or not bother with the AI targets, purely trying to rack up points by killing other Spartans will take a long time.

Thanks. I saw a Covenant AI guy on a stream. Are there also marine AIs?

Can someone explain how controlling bases in Warzone affects scoring points?

I know that if you get all 3 bases, you can destroy the enemy core for an insta-win, but do the bases themselves provide any points? And if so, is it a bulk amount (for example, capturing a base = 50 points), or do you get a steady stream of points (for example, you get a point every second like in strongholds).

From what I could see, no points is given

I think every few seconds you get a point for each base you have captured.

And are these AI guys on specific teams, or are they adversarial to both teams?

When you capture a base, some friendly AI will help protect it from the other team...

The covenant and promethean AI spawn outside the bases all over the map, and will kill players on either team.

I dunno. Thrust being on B is gonna make it a lot less intuitive IMO. Unless you can claw.

You're always going to have something in an awkward place, there are just too many actions compared to the number of accessible buttons... at least on the regular controller.

I'll be going default with jump/thrust on paddles when my Elite arrives.

Also, I found this article yesterday while looking for something else, but it has proper quality shots of all the control schemes.

awesome, thanks for this.
