Halo 5 Multiplayer Coverage! (no campaign spoilers)

I mean... inverted for life man.

Were not really controlling eyes that are detached from the players body. were controlling a torso/shoulders/arms/neck/head all at once. Like its all put on a stick. Lean back to aim up. Push foward to look down. Almost similar to launching catapults. Catapults for bullets in yo face of all those who play default.

Jk....
or am i... >=D

You make a strong argument but if Inverted was better you'd think it would be called something else, like... oh, I dunno.. Default?

It would be interesting if some months after launch, 343 released data showing the average rank of Inverted players versus the average rank of Default players...

Deep down I know Inverted players would probably rank higher on average because they both care enough about the game to change settings and are less common than Default players.

Except that our Field of View is through the eyes of the Spartan. Not behind his head. So do you roll your eyes down when you want to look up?

The behind the head analogy has never made sense. There is no joystick behind anyone's head. Inverted folks just bring it up to justify their weirdness. And then if you ask them why they don't have it for left/right they can't explain it. I mean if there is a joystick behind the head, why don't you play by pressing right to go/look left.

The screen is the eyes. You look up to look up, you look down to look down.

The old inverted argument... Been an invert bro since Goldeneye. It's funny all of the friends that give me shit for inverted controls are casuals.

Yea, but if you stuck a joystick to the back of an eyeball, when you look up, the stick would go down.

That said, default for life <3

As a Nintendo 64 player, Inversion is justified. Played with it with GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day. It's what I am used to, I remember trying to play Telltales The Walking Dead Season 1. It was so difficult to play because of the lack of inversion, something that took a lot of adjusting to.

Of course brother, every game should have inverted controls for people who need to use it. I know walking dead upset a lot of people who just couldn't play. I have seen people who played inverted for a long time be disoriented when playing regular, but it's something I've seen that goes away as well.

I always think fighter jet or flight controls, pilot pulls down on stick to go up. Inverted is the only way that I can make sense of playing games. Legit I can't play a game that does not support inverted.

Yup, most recently with Conker's Bad Fur Day in Rare Replay. They only had Inverted Controls with no way to switch to non-inverted (like Live and Reloaded had).

Southpaw for lyfe!

(I'm left handed but I don't do that!)

Ha, I played southpaw for years. Didn't think much of it...coming from PC where I always used the mouse left handed it just seemed more natural. But eventually I got sick of so many games not offering southpaw as an option and I retrained myself. I think that was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Fear not, soon you'll be able to invert the sticks at a system level (you already can if you're in the preview program).

I've always played inverted, but I truly think you can adjust to anything if forced to, luckily we don't have to!

I think back to my Dreamcast days, and playing Q3A & UT, using the face buttons as movement, and the left stick to aim. That blows my mind today, I would be absolute garbage if I had to play like that now, but I was really good at it back then, lol.

Pretty sure this fucking game is the reason I play inverted til this day

I like to think of it as "when I want to lean forward, I push the stick forward, and when I want to lean back, I pull it back" Or at least, that's the rationalization I've come up with to explain why I like to play FPS with the Y axis inverted.

I'm really weird with it though. In games where you have to move the crosshair across the screen (like Child of Eden, for example) I don't invert anything, and in third person adventure games where I control the camera around my character (like Okami) I invert both axis.

Is review embargo up at 12PM EST?

I think it's midnight west coast, so for us it'll be midnight but for east coast GAF'ers it'll be 3am, and for UK I think it'll be 7am? London I'm pretty sure is 7 hours ahead of Seattle.

Wherever you are, it's 7 hours from now for the embargo to be up.

I don't play inverted, but I noticed that I crashed vehicles a few times in Star Wars: Battlefront because my muscle memory was geared toward inverted flight controls. Felt really weird to fly non-inverted.

Halo.

I only use inverted for flight controls. For everything else its normal for me. I cant stand inverted.

So we doing Customs next weekend? We should try to set up a GAF tourney.
another failed attempt likely

Looking forward to seeing if Chief doing his desert poncho thing from the reveal trailer is part of the game or if that was more a representation of what would be going on, sort of like the first 2 tv ad's.

Pls don't make me wake up rolling out of bed at 4am in the morning to do a match...

Look, at the end of the day, I could sneakily get into the code and change the text string to say whatever old guy garbage I wanted to say. And in the end, isn't that the only truth that matters hmm? The answer, is no.

Funny story, my GAF account is actually from 2012 and I've been lurking at least since then but when I finally decided to make an account I realized I made one years ago but never used it. So now I'm here!

I did exactly the same thing. I had an older email get approved for an account but never used it either. I then had this one approved years later.

God I love this game.

Still debating between Green Thumb or Default. I beat the game in heroic using Default, it worked real well...but something tells me that green thumb might work better for multiplayer.

Kittens was supposed to do one for MCC but it never panned out. Haven't seen him post in a while so should ask if he still wants to set one up for Halo 5.
