Halo: MCC Multiplayer "1th" patch "fix" live!

The hyperbole is really annoying, that's for sure. It doesn't contribute to discussion whatsoever, and most of it is pretty blatant.

Honestly, 5v6 doesn't seem too bad at all. If the disparity is more like 2v6, then that's something really wrong, IMO.

Hell, I was in a 4v3 match on Stonetown and the team of three wiped the floor with us.

They improved the speed, generally, but the patch introduced a few other glaring issues. Like the annoyance that is the Match Incomplete bug.

I think some people are just tired of people having a casual attitude to this for others. If that's how they feel fine. But this "just go play other games and wait" or "it's just a game, chill out" or "there is worse things in the world"....

That really kind of pisses people off, especially when it's directed at others (and not just someone saying this is true for them personally). It pretty much passively pushes the idea that people are being unreasonable. We had this discussion yesterday, and I get you are more so addressing the people that are foaming from the mouth with rage. And that is fair enough. I think people have the right to be mad (as do you), but yeah losing your shit and melting down isn't going to solve anything.

But I find it just as annoying people that are trying to downplay this for others, and that this REALLY isnt a big deal. Everyone is coming at this from a different perspective. This could mean different things to different people (with regards to time and money, and other factors). So for some, it is a really big deal.

At this point, I'm more so agree that some should just get a refund. HOWEVER, I also think that people should continue to voice their anger (this is where we do agree, I think it should be reasonable and not just loud noise or threats)....because I think companies should know and get bad press when stuff like this happens. So it doesn't happen again.

Anyways, I think MS really should just get out in front of this and offer some kind of reward for those that stuck it out.

Wait, Smash online is fine? How is it without a wired Wii U connection?

I'm super hyped to get home and play it now.

I was on a wired connection. But it was buttery smooth as hell for every game I played. I even got to play with a friend in another country, and it was awesome playing Smash with a friend (he used to come over and play in my room, so to be able to play again with that person over the internet...was awesome).

That said, maybe for others it wasn't smooth. I do know it at least works. So there is that lol

I'm just saying, even if we take a glass-half-empty approach to the situation here, you're seriously going to contend that this patch somehow introduced 10 more bugs for each "fix"? I'm not so blind to say that the patch didn't cause some NEW issues, but if it truly was as your claiming here that'd be like if you started the game up after the patch and it simply bricked your console. That's exaggeration and hyperbole and you know it.
I'm not entirely sure how 10 more bugs for each "fix" equals a bricked console if most of what was supposed to be fixed wasn't actually fixed.

People don't like it when people try to tell them what to do from atop their soapbox.

I watched some Smash online videos...it did not look smooth to me, though the poster claimed it was? It looked less than 30 fps. No one has said whether it truly felt like it's like playing with a friend on the couch, all anyone has said is that it works and is smooth.

I want to know if that the online feels like 3 of my friends are right next to me

Ok, just started a match... I think it wasnt dedicated server though. Now... someone explain me this?

Why the hell I was in a match, 4v4, against:

ChunkyMcGriddle
ChunkyMcGrid(1)
McBrownie
McBrownie(1)

And yeah... all of them were active and killing a lot. They killed the hell out of my team. That was a damn strange match!

Well that sucks. Was super smooth for me. But you know, it always kind of varies and such. I will say, at least it works. So there is that. But yeah, maybe I shouldn't have said it is 100% smooth, since I haven't actually seen what others experiences are. But for me, it was buttery smooth 60 FPS no lag, playing with my friend in a different country. It was awesome.

But I can imagine that maybe that just an outlier, and playing online with people NOT on your friends list, might have more lag and problems. I'll try it out now very soon.

EDIT: and yeah, I just think both sides needs to stop trying to comment on others and how they should feel. It's kind of annoying (then again, I just commented on how others are acting so lol I'm a hypocrite). Oh well. I do understand some being against people melting down though. As far as anger goes, and trying to get something done, at a certain point it just becomes loud noise and doesn't do anything.

They're split screen accounts?

They're split screen accounts?

Hmmmm... could be!! I dont know how it works yet. Yeah! Could be!!

The (1) represents another player playing split-screen with the original player, they can both play online.

Allright! Thanks! I didnt know that!
Well... when this game get fixed, to play that in split-screen gonna be interesting!

Each person had a local guest account signed in with them. Is that what you're asking? That's how guest accounts show up

Yup! Thats it!! First time in Halo, so I didnt even know it could be played online in split screen! =x

All I'm trying to say is that your original post came off like:

"Not only did they NOT fixed what the said they would fix (partly true) they straight up made everything worse by leaps and bounds."

Trust me, I'm with you in being disappointed that the patch didn't deliver the fix to the game we all wanted, but it certainly didn't break the game any more than it already was.

Well the patch made it so finding games isn't impossible but menu system is pretty busted and I don't think we successfully did a match and got into another one without the lobby falling apart or someone's Xbox locking up.

Of everything I've personally played this year, hell this generation (including Wii U) this is the most disappointing game for me. I've never played Halo before but my friends said Halo MP is great so I jumped in.

I'm enjoying the campaign though so I guess there is that.

Hopefully we can get Halo MCC 2 next year with ODST and Reach, that will actually work and come with two discs so we don't have to download 50 gb's of patches.

Believe.

That's good to know about Smash. I really don't want anything less than like my friends are right next to me.

I think 343i's continued silence is why there's now so much "loud noise" People are pissed and want truthful answers and ETAs now.

You can go ask in the Smash thread, but the consensus is that the online is superb for the vast majority of people.

A handful of those using wireless connections reported bad experiences consistently, but it's almost certainly a router-setting thing that will be troubleshot and well-documented within the next week.

So glad I mostly bought this game for the campaign. The bugs there are far less egregious it seems. My sympathies to those who are struggling with multiplayer.

Tried multiple times to get a refund. All support people said they are withholding refunds until a patch goes live on the 24th apparently.

They were more than willing to discuss refunds on non-Microsoft published games.

Eventually the last support person just ended the support session.

Pretty dumb.

It seems the support are saying about this patch to lots of people now... They usually do it?

I dont trust these guys. What are the chances that they know it and we still dont?

Given that they are Microsoft employees and we arent, I'd imagine it's likely?

Considering the response to the Wednesday patch getting delayed I wouldn't be surprised if 343 is opting to not talk about upcoming patches before they're done/going live.

The idea that this clusterfuck is a result of multiple engines doesn't seem very logical to me.

The backend of getting and keeping people together is failing before the game is asked to launch anything.

Worked for me last night just about (minus restarting the game if the lobby broke) but now, flat out not working and throwing connection errors at me.

It's such a shame they can't get matchmaking to work, they had experience with halo 4, why is it flat out not working? what did they do?

Wow neutral bomb in H2A is completely ruined too. They added a 5 second timer to arm the bomb instead of it auto arming. Completely ruins the match to have to stand in place for 5 seconds to arm it.

Umm...that's the way it was in Halo 2, and is VASTLY superior to the bullshit in Halo 3. This one actually requires skill from both teams. The assaulting team has to keep the bomb within the circle and the defending team can try to knock it out to stop the arming. It's why Assault on Headlong was one of the best map/gametype combinations in the franchise.

Halo 3's devolved into bumrush the base, plant the bombs and spam fucking grenades to arm. It essentially sucked the life out of the gametype, which is quite indicative of Halo 3 as a whole.

Is it normal on Halo CE matchmaking to see other players movement a bit awkward? (seems like sometimes theyre sliding on the ground).

Also... In Halo 2, when you press menu. The green bar means good ping?

Halo Channel app -> Nightfall -> View Episodes -> pick an episode -> Play Episode

Okay, right I have been doing.
Halo:MCC -> Extras ->Halo Nightfall -> Video Player ->Halo Nightfall ->Halo Channel opens up, no watch option, only "details" or "buy Halo" -> Press buy Halo -> Bounced back to the Halo Nightfall select in the MCC video player.

At which point if I keep pressing A I get bounced back and forth between the video player and buy halo.

You have to enter the code that came with the game. It doesn't automatically detect you own the game (makes no sense to me)

Assuming you're on the "home console" that Halo MCC was purchased on or you're the user account that purchased the game?

Edit: See post above. I bought Halo MCC digitally, was unaware of any extra codes ...

Did you buy digitally? Apparently those who bought digitally are screwed as that is another thing that is broken.

If I remember correctly, certain animations in H1 did not have walking animations to go with them. For example, throwing a grenade, and sometimes receiving damage. Makes the player glide when those animations are playing.

Allright!! Thanks! I was thinking if it was something lag related or just lack of animations. I think its animations issues, because besides it, it seems the game wasnt lagging.

Funniest part?

Everything Hitler just said, I said to my mate yesterday. 343 will have done irreparable damage to the franchise. Halo 5 will take a HUGE hit from this despite Halo 4 being a stable launch.

Put me in the camp who noticed no difference after the patch.

After I downloaded the patch, I quit the game and relaunched it just to take another measure. I bounced between lobbies for almost an hour before I got in a game of Halo 2:A. Got a 5v4 game going which then became a 4v2 since one guy on my team was AKF and others quit out. We got dominated. I then proceed to wait longer when a friend of mine gets on. We go between lobbies for about 30 minutes before we get a BTB group going. First we had 16 people, then the game decides it needs to get the lobby down to 12 so it boots the extra players all from our team. Another 5 minutes go by and it boots us back to the main menu where we can no longer party up after 15 more minutes of trying because of reasons.

He goes to bed after us not doing anything for another hour and right after I try to find one more game. 7v3 1 Flag on Stonetown and of course I was on the team with 2 others who gave up after the other team got 1 point. I finally ended my night with a 6v6 2 Flag match on Blood Gulch in CE. Only good game of the night even if no one scored.

All this happened in a 4 and a half hour span. WHY DID I WASTE 4 AND A HALF HOURS ON THIS. Is it too much to ask to play a few games of multi after playing the campaign, which again, I've thankfully had no issue with. If I play this anymore right now, it's just campaign which I should put more time on anyway but still, this has been a disappointing experience.

Did you buy digitally? Apparently those who bought digitally are screwed as that is another thing that is broken.

Correction: WAS broken. I have the digital version and I had the same "Buy Halo" problem up until a couple of days ago. Apparently that particular issue is fixed. If someone who is online and fully updated is still having issues then that is definitely concerning. Honestly though, you're not missing anything as Nightfall is a piece of shit. I've seen high school plays with better acting and production values. It just sucks that it's another thing that's fucked with the game.

I play Halo mainly for the campaigns so I'm not mucho pissed about all the online stuff but they still better fix these issues sooner rather than later or 343I and MS won't recover or be trusted again. There's nothing worse then a Halo fan scorned, especially when talking about the end-all be-all of Halo Collections. Personally, I think this situation is a million times worse then Driveclub, mainly because no one gives a fuck about that game, and MS should be very worried right now of pissing off the few remaining hardcore fans they have left.
