Halo MCC: the 8 maps you probably never played IGN First

After the disappointing mp that was Destiny, the idea of getting to choose from a 100+ maps to play from is making me so excited I can't stand it. I think Halo 2 was the last time I can remember really having a shitload of maps to choose from.

only two Halo vista maps? no map editor?

343i, I am disappoint.
Huh? There were only 2 officially released maps. And yes there is a map editor. It's called Forge. This isn't a re-release of Halo 2 Vista. It's a re-release of Halo 2 for the XBox....so them throwing in those 2 Vista maps is just icing on the already awesome cake.

Well, there was also "Example". :P Extremely basic, 1v1, with a special silenced SMG. Would be pretty glorious in BTB though.

Example wasn't even a real map, it was literally an example of what you could do with the map maker.
Shit don't count.

It should also be noted that the Vista map maker required programs outside of the game itself.

Given Destiny's rather poor reception, do ya'll think that there's a possibility the MCC ends up taking the VGX GOTY? The fact that it's a remake makes it seem unlikely, but what other games are there? Destiny was the obvious choice but it's pretty clear at this point that it won't win it. Oddly enough, the best games of this year are all remasters. However, GTA won't win it because it won it last year, and I doubt they would give it to TLOU over the MCC simply because the latter has four times as much content. This should be interesting.

I would prefer if a new game won GOTY. If they have a Best Remake/Remaster of the Year than MCC would have to win.

I hope not. I mean... this is my most anticipated release, but GOTY should really go to a, well, G that came out this Y. Dragon Age and Sunset Overdrive are shaping up to be interesting contenders, and Shadow of Mordor is receiving a ton of praise.

I am having trouble understanding the big deal about the medals?

For some reason they fill the screen way too much in footage we have seen from IGN so far, could be an early build thing but not everyone likes them appearing like a call of duty kill stream score.

*edit* I read that wrong, I guess people like the original medal system then the halo 4 one which threw medals at you.

I guess they're all big maps because they assumed Halo 1 would be played by 16 players on PC. Since there was no XBL for Halo 1, it makes sense that they shipped more small maps than big, since LAN Parties weren't something they were expecting much of.

Aye and it was fantastic.

And here I was thinking it would refer to the Halo 4 maps.

I hope they keep making the playlist more interesting over the months. There are so many maps, there is no way anyone can get bored. Its like you always want to see how the next map will look like running full HD and 60fps lol

LMAO! As someone who played Halo CE on PC a LOT, most of those maps are pretty much the only thing I remember from Halo CE multiplayer xD

Funny how different the experience was for us compare to the Xbox owners.

Haha I lmao right? I played a ton of the PC version and those are the only maps I remember, plus blood gulch.

They still have time to announce something. They probably want to wait for the Sunset Overdrive bundle to settle

(I hope)

There would 8 different SKUs (CoD AW, Sunset Overdrive, AC Unity with Kinect, AC Unity without kinect, Xbox One with Kinect, Xbox One without Kinect) this holiday if they announced a MCC bundle. That's fucking madness.

Yeah, but one of those is guaranteed to sell like fucking bananas

I actually don't blame them, it's the same reason Nintendo isn't doing a Wii U Smash Bros bundle: they know the hardware will sell regardless, so why not get the cash for both?

The Halo 1 PC maps were so good. They lent themselves so well to CTF and vehicles.

Every game felt like a titanic struggle, making lone wolf runs as your team held down a base or watching the whole team join in a giant base assault.

I'm really sad this kind of multiplayer never took off in the main series but I'm glad it's coming back here.

The gameplay for this is giving me classic counter-strike vibes. Never actually got to play any Halo MP beyond the demo for Halo Vista though. Look forward to it (:
