Halo |OT 20| It really does feel like Halo

Can anyone who works for 343 confirm whether or not TMCC will have 4 player split screen local custom games? And for which games in the series? Thanks.

bleh. We already got a walkthrough with Bravo.

With the hype around Halo Day, there is no way they'll show off Halo 5 MP before then. Even less likely for SP.

Isn't the beta multiplayer only? I don't think we'll be seeing single player stuff or even something like Firefight.

Yes for all of them. All that past functionality has been retained.

I work for 343, surprise.

All this Lockdown talk has gotten me thinking about the possibility of lighting changes using the Forge. Y'know how in Halo 3 onward Forge had filters like Juicy, and Next-Gen? Maybe if H2A's Forge has some of those we can make Lockdown and Bloodline actually look nice.

I don't think we'll even get firefight. We'll get another spartan ops that is poorly written with more buttons to push.

Eggheads.

I mean firefight is fun whereas SPOPs felt like a chore with honestly very little replay value.

Just give us both. Firefight for, Firefight, and then Spartan Ops can just be a continuation of the story using not only original maps, but maybe some from Firefight as, or vise-versa. Just make the gameplay not suck, and have the campaign dudes work on it from the start.

I liked Spartan Ops. Waypoint says I sunk close to 15 hours into it. I just wish the connections were better. Hopefully that's what the delay in MCC enables them to fix.

So, on top of working on the MCC OT, I've also been put in charge of the Midnight Launch over at the GameStop I work at. I'm putting an FFA Halo 2 Tournament together for that night, I'm going to be doing a 6 or 8 player-per-match FFA BR starts slayer but I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to match duration and what maps to use. Any ideas, guys?

Grand prize is going to be a copy of the game.

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.
Heavily modified Halo CE engine is what powers Shadowrun, which is why the movement and gunplay feel a lot like Halo CE. I'm talking gameplay only here.

Not quite, as I understand, it was prototyped on the HALO engine, but the actual game was created using FASA's own engine.

That other map they've been showing for Halo 5... Is that Skyline?
Sorry, it's probably been discussed a ton of times already.

That's not Hao you spell it

The fundamentals are still there, the movement and shooting is extremely close to Halo CE. Just changed to work with the abilities, and of course the gunplay mechanics, mechanics which a lot of people could never wrap their heads around. Even Bungie couldn't wrap their heads around them, cuz Reach happened.

Frankie is usually the one to call me out on my Shadowrun development claims, but since he temporarily banned himself, someone else has to step in.

Lets talk about Shadowrun some time.

I miss that game ;\ I wish I'd brought my 360 back to school

I think that someone was able to look at it and see that it wasn't skyline, I thought it was too, but I think I was proven wrong by someone.

Hey, bud, are you involved with the MCC team at all or are you only working on Halo 5?

Ah shit, sorry for the double post.

I'm involved with it only in that my Halo 4 Spartan Ops work will be a part of it...in December. :)

I've been heads down on Halo 5 work since we shipped H4.

Oh wow, that's awesome. Any details as to what aspect of the game you've been working on or it still top secret?

I've never played Shadowrun.

Mix, I want to come to your midnight launch though.

Duration 5 minutes or first to 15 since I imagine a lot of people will be playing in the tournament. If there aren't many participants I would say 10 minutes or first to 25.

As for Maps...

Sanctuary - H2
Hang Em' High - H1
Wizard or Warlock - H1/H2
Guardian - H3
Midship - H2
Haven - H4 *Only if people want to play H4 but who would
and maybe Lockout - H2A since people will probably want to play on the new maps

should be a solid playthrough for a tournament.

Thanks for the suggestions! Thinking about it, however, I'm wondering if I should do a few rounds of FFA and finish it off with a bracketed 1v1 tourny. Keep the top 2 or 3 from each game and then slot them into 5 minute 1v1 or first to 10 for the title.

Perhaps do two FFA matches of 8 and only have the top 4 of each advance to the 1V1 round and seed them by positioning in the FFA, then do like you said 5 minutes or first to 10.

Edit: Perhaps do one warm up match before the tournament starts to everyone can at least play 2 games and then you'll have 10 matches even.

When the good players make their way through your tournament, for H1 it should be Derelict FFA with Generic weapon starts (to get a Pistol), 50 Kills to win. For H2, it should be Midship FFA, BR starts, Radar On, Human weapon set, no kill limit, 15 min time limit, or 10 if 15 is too long.

I would do Top 2 or top 4 advance, 3 is an odd number and will make your bracket a bit messy.

For 1v1, Halo CE should be Prisoner and Wizard as the two maps to play, Pistol starts, Radar on, 25 Kills to win. For Halo 2, Warlock with BR starts, and maybe Lockout as well.

No idea about the other two Halo games, but for the ones that matter, those would be some good tournament settings, especially to competitive players who come there expecting them.
