Did you just not read that post or what
How is better graphics/more detail an issue.
more like this
for my Halo 3 people, former pro Fear is playing on a new account until he gets his 50 in MLG right now.

should be a fun time.
Uh?
it's allways been locked to no higher than 30 fps. Every game thus far except the PC versions.
Unlocking only ever makes sense if you're higher than 60, and even then it can have negative effects on some oversensitive eyes picking up fluctuation and unnecessary power consumption.
nope the only thing that fucked that map up was changing it to human made. If they would have left it forerunner it wouldn't have been as bad. I lovved Lockout, most definitely one of the best maps in halo. Even if they would have left it forerunner it would still have more detail because of the hardware. They will alway take advantage if they can.Something like Blackout isn't just more detailed. They added dumb railings and all kinds of things sticking out without good reason. Looks the same on Warhouse.
Like I said, it's not so much a problem with graphics detail as it is with geometry detail. It seems like Warhouse has so many small edges, railings and stuff poking out similar to Blackout. I prefer simpler geometry like on Wraparound. How is better graphics/more detail an issue.
Not at all, but Kyle makes an excellent point.
There are ways to make environments look pretty without throwing in hundreds of superfluous decorators like cameras, handrails and mechs. These things don't add to the gameplay and may in fact detract from it.
One of the biggest improvements, engine wise, from the early glimpses we've had is the lighting system. The Pit is a map that heavily relies on light to orient the player in the playable space, and so imagine a revamped version of The Pit with improved godrays and shadows like we've already witnessed in Warhouse and Wraparound.
The thing that needs reiterating is that we'll play these maps, hopefully, hundreds of times. Each successive time we play these maps we'll stop seeing decorators and superfluous art assets and begin seeing blocks, and ramps and ledges. We won't stop during a match one month from launch and marvel at the monolithic KYLE6D in awe. What's more than likely is we'll curse these things if they block our natural instinct to play with the Halo sandbox.
It's worth noting that Warhouse features some crisp, flat surfaces to propel grenades off, so I take it 343 are already conscious of what we're saying. Hopefully. A short acknowledgment of these issues would act as a nice nightcap though.
It's neoism guys, don't act surprised
Rock my world Frank. I want to believe that you guys can make armour abilities, sprint and loadouts work out.
Also what else would you name in the game after halogaffers?
Agree, simplicity of map needs to make its return. Tired of getting caught on little door lips, rail pieces, and pieces of rock. MP maps need to be smooth simple and less detailed and perform better than SP crap.
Yeah, I understand. One would almost expect a big contrast in how Wraparound and Warhouse play out in the future. Wraparound seems to follow the design requirements you suggest would benefit the players. What might be nice, is if 343 notices large volumes of slowdown around the mech post-launch, they could simply make it static. No unnecessary movement and stuff.

I agree with you a lot in this thread, but CoD doesn't even come close to Halo 3 or Reach. The CoD games look decent enough from a distance, sometimes even look pretty, but if you get anywhere close to objects they don't look good at all. Decent textures in some locations, inexcusable textures in others. The only graphical aspect of CoD games is IW/Treyarch do a great job with the weapon models. What? Halo 3 or Reach doesn't look any better than COD imo.
ANd I swear I am going to name that Mech Kyle.
As in "a guy that loves default Reach". You're the tops when it comes to anything that is not a Halo opinion.

Someone at 343 specified that the Halo 4 maps weren't being taken out of SP again didn't they?

Completely agree.Because they begin to interact with the gameplay in ways that disturb the sandbox.
Imagine if The Pit had handrails on the sides of each platform. Imagine if the floor was littered with thick cables that interfered with the physics of your grenades. Imagine a big mech that caused the frame rate to drop (Not that I'm saying the KYLE6D will, per se).
*sigh*

You better rename Wraparound to Cirrus or Nimbus!
The first one is better because it encourages new and inexperienced players to keep playing by giving them feedback for simply playing. Experienced players don't need such encouragement.
You seem to have skipped past a bunch of my posts stating that the CoD system appeal's to the the mass casual market whilst also allowing the more competitive players to enjoy the fact that playing well is rewarded.
I also disagree with your arguments that the progression system is built to hook potentially the worst players, but thats a discussion for another time.
That'd be sweet if him and Atticus Ross did the soundtrack together. But they just did Girl With the Dragon Tattoo so I doubt there's any chance.
They didn't?

I hope 343 take full advantage of that with regards to playability over hundreds of hours. And the fact that they're all virtually simulated environments designed with the purpose of training Spartans, not impressing them with beautiful decorations.
They didn't?
The only map in Reach that was a campaign space first was Boneyard. Every other map started as a multiplayer map and was then placed in campaign accordingly.

Yeah, you can tell because when you see the maps in campaign, you don't do shit in them.

I have to say I don't think I ever had that happen.. unless I just can't remember. I never had a problem with getting caught on anything. maybe a grenade or two, but Reach's grenade bouncing is bad... 3s was great, and sometimes I will get in someones way and will be pushed. Stupid evade. :/ But on the maps?? guess I'm lucky.

I wish they could talk about the map Boneyard replaced. IIRC, the map it replaced had it's location in Campaign get cut pretty late in development, so the map went down with it.
Same thing almost happened to Guardian, but Halo 3 was so far along at that point they just let the map stay in, even though it took place in a cut campaign setting. If I remember correctly from the interviews.
Do you not remember Orbital? That map was like tapdancing on a cattle grid.
I haven't followed the thread the whole weekend...
I am excited/confident in 343i to tell a strong narrative at the very least because it is a new team and 343i has done so much more to focus and talk about the fiction than Bungie ever has (but that's due to the responsibilities they have I guess). I'm more confident in 343i to tell a stronger narrative than Bungie post Halo 3 at least. Halo 3's events made sense from point to point, but it was told in a very bad way.Do we have any cause to believe that 343i are going to do a better job narrative wise? As in, are there any known developers on board who might be able to change things around a bit?
Do you guys know what Shishka's role at 343 is? I don't recall... I just remembered he wanted Terminal in the Anniversary map pack. Wonder if that will be one of the remakes that comes back along with Guardian.

No one likes BTB heavies. My whole PAX East group think it is shit.Has anyone else not touched BTB since they added Heavies?
inb4IneverplayedBTBbeforeblahblahderpderp NO ONE ASKED YOU
You can see the matches which were streamed here. But not the whole stream.Mildly OT question for anybody who knows a bit about the MLG site. Is there any place to watch some of the older halo events anywhere? I was looking around and I couldn't find anything before last year as far as rebroadcasts go.
