lol on tashi's feed the blue team are flag juggling even though bungie fixed it :lol fools.

I was telling him in the game that it was fixed but he was convinced that jumping and juggling was faster. The only real way to test this now is to get a group of 8 together, play stockpile and then have a race with 2 flag carries.

To the guy who said they would have more codes tonight, does that roll into the people who have already taken the quiz?

I don't think there's a limit on the codes they have or they wouldn't have offered it to their entire ExpertZone audience ( a TON of people). The site is fragile, though, and breaks every time they put out something big, like Elites for $199 back when that was a big deal. So when they come back online you should be able to go back into the ODST quiz and get your code. Again, I doubt they have a limit since EZ already has thousands and thousands of members.

Quote of the afternoon so far.

"Let's split up into 2 parties of 4. I want to play somebody else. It seams like whoever on Tashi's team keeps on winning." :lol

I only played a few quick games as I'm supposed to be working but I must agree with Ghaleon regarding the jumping. I'm what I would consider a Halo game jumper. It all stemed from all of the shortcuts from Lockout since Halo2. The way you jump in Reach feels like gravity is amplied 1.5x and your jump is so much shorter and the way down is so much faster. This will take a lot of getting used to on my part. :(

Also trying to learn that melee is now on the right thumper isn't working for me. I'm too used to the B button being the melee. I'm too old to change... :lol

Button Layouts->Recon

I don't know why I want a code so bad when I have to devote a whole ton of time this weekend to finishing out my class. This was poor planning on my part, I guess. I'll need breaks though, right?

Are you out of your ever-loving mind? Halo 3 destroys Halo 2. I'm hoping the jump from Halo 3 to Reach provides at least as much improvement as the jump from Halo 2 to Halo 3.

Weaker gunplay? (because of over balancing and human weapons being projectiles) Vehicle play completely useless due to overwhelming anti vehicle weapons? Gametypes being nerfed (flag carrier walks the same speed as everyone, assault being meh, no contention, etc etc) as well as choppy framerate... the friends list in halo 2? (which adds to custom jump in and outs) - just to add to that last point... i play in halo 3 custom game by myself from time to time... i never have anyone randomly join... in halo 2 sometimes it would turn into a big team battle.

either way dude it's not worth arguing. Halo reach is upon us and I'm hoping/still waiting for a worthy successor to halo 2. sry.

Bumper Jumper works just fine, for those who might be concerned. Jetpacking isn't quite as easy as it might be, but Sprint is a toggle, and it's perfect for Armour Lock.

hmm, well I can't sit and refresh expert zone all day so I guess i'll just have to get lucky when I check. Thanks for the info.

To those who DID get an expert zone code, where exactley does it appear at, so I know where to look?

Same exact situation I'm in haha.

So for people with the Beta:

I usually play bumper jumper, as jumping in halo 3 was such an agile move, but now since jumping has been severely gimped per-say, would it be better to use a controller layout that keeps an armor ability on the shoulder buttons rather than jumping?

You have to submit your email address then they email it to you.

Listening to you guys talk about playing is so painful. If I don't get lucky and get a beta code I'm going to head to the gym and mall later and pick up Halo: Uprising. I've been meaning to pick it up forever but now seems like the perfect time in anticipating of Reach. But on the other hand I really hope I get lucky and get a code either from someone here on GAF or get lucky with Facebook or Twitter.

BUNGIE WHEN ARE THE HALO 2 CODES GETTING SENT OUT??

one of my friends is on the verge of going postal

If every hack website and twitter dude got some codes, goddamit the halo 2 players should also be in on the f&f

Where? Was it just a page at the end of the quiz or something?
You have to go back through the learn more thing about ODST, then hit the button that says go to retail HQ. Only problem is that when you hit that button the page is down. That's what everyone is waiting on.

You finish the quiz, go back to the main page. Click through to "Halo Reach Retail Home". Now the site knows you've finished the quiz and has a button that says "Get your code". You press it, type in your email, and boom it's in your inbox.

But stop freaking, guys. This isn't some twitter/FB competition. The codes aren't going anywhere and they're not going to run out. If anything, they're just going to make it so people with new accounts can't access the quiz/codes.

Pretty much this. I've given up all hope at this point :lol Gonna cheer myself up with some Halo 2 pc (gotta finish that legendary run!). I might get lucky with a random contest at some point in the weekend. To all the gaffers already in, have a blast :D

Also I wish there was a way to change your loadout before you respawn, there's not enough time to choose one properly during the 3-4 second time.

That's great news. God damn, this is going to be a looong weekend, and not in a good way at all. :lol

I will say that the default jump feels a little less useful (and obviously less floaty than it used to), but it's still nice to have. The Elite Evade, on the other hand, is really, really good. Just had Covy Slayer, and everyone dancing about with Needle Rifles (one of the starting loadouts!) is superb.

IIRC, the Halo 2 codes won't be F&F codes.
Yeah I remember that, but Brian was just doing some guesswork, a lot could've changed since back then, and I dont' see them creating two types of codes for this. Seeing all the random ass sites sending the codes to their contest winners, and microsoft not doing it, is frustrating.

Cool. Good to know. Thanks for the impressions :)

Two things.

Recon controls FTW. Good lord that helped.

Covy Slayer: the shiznit. The shiznit I say!

So many moments of dodging out of the way and exacting revenge. And vice versa.

After playing it 4 times now, I hate Covy Slayer even more. It is not fun, it's just chaos.

Chaos sounds like fun to me. You're not allowed to hate anything about the Beta since you go in early! :lol

Still 3 hours before work is a distant memory. I think I can make it until 4AM tomorrow and still get enough sleep for class...

Whats this thing about Halo 2 codes?

If you've ever played H2 on your gamertag and if you played it on the last day it was up on Xbox Live, you get visual flair in Reach, not a beta code (which some people wish had happened). There are no Halo 2 codes.

GODDAMN at the animations.. in third person seeing a spartan crouching down to absorb impact from a high fall, kick up a small cloud of dust, is bliss.
