Dude, he won the game :lol

I wouldn't say that at all.

If he wasn't so concerned about his own K/d that game could have been over in about 1:30. Instead he spent about 10 minutes barely getting any time in the hill. It's not slayer.

You got to look at what will be the most fun. Run into the hill and get nuked by a nade or shoot terrible players out of the sky with the DMR.

Still really surprised by some of the negative reactions to this. It feels like the most a Halo game has evolved since, well, Combat Evolved, and I love the vast majority of things about it. And I don't buy that "diehards" won't like it, as even with a "mere" 3,000+ games played, I would consider myself a diehard. But there is probably truth to what Daravon said: if Halo was the only FPS you liked and played regularly, I can see why this many changes to it would be unsettling at the very least. Still, some of HaloGAF's best players like Tashi and Ramirez seem to like it.

The netcode alone means I won't go back to Halo 3.

Because it is the "bloom" of the reticule, not really recoil. The guns don't have a huge kickback or go all over the screen when you hold the trigger, just the reticule blooms and the bullets do.
I laughed about thirty pages back when some dude was like "why don't they just have actual recoil on the pistol". They do. Fire it repeatedly at a wall without touching the right thumbstick and come back to me.

Bloom doesn't describe the spread of fire. It describes the visual bloom. Of the reticule.
Everyone, please, it's reticle, not reticule. I tried not to say anything up until now, but a 'reticule' is a kind of woman's purse used to hold toilet articles.

I'm pretty sure either one is correct.

yea that dude was actually helpful to his team.
It was a FFA game.

I really wish Live had the option to pre-load downloads :( Would save a lot of pain for when there is an abundance of people downloading something.

However, lucky for me I'm getting a friends account and D/Ling it tonight, so as to avoid the potential issues :D

Me too, Virgin aren't going to like me downloading all this tonight.

I'm not a good player, nor have I played that much, but Halo is quite the only fps I really play and enjoy.

And having only played 7 or so hours of Reach, I really can't see myself going back to Halo 3.

It's just that good.

I can understand that people who are now really good players can feel overwhelmed by the idea of having to re-learn nearly everything from scratch. But it is not a good argument to hold against Reach's improvements and novelties.

I think most of the hate will come from this: people who jump in the beta (maybe without knowledge of major changes) and expect it to behave just like Halo 3+.

My hope is all the best players will play arena and i can enjoy/survive the normal modes:lol
Maybe it was just a placebo effect, but I was getting creamed pretty bad so I selected Skill as a connection option. After that I had really good and evenly matched games. I was getting k/d in the +/- 1-3 range and flag games were ending in ties. That was with a player pool smaller than 3000.

Alright guys, someone has to tell me I'm not crazy. One of the problems I have with Reach's gunplay is this death delay that they have. Blood says I'm crazy but I notice it all the time when trying to land headshots. I'll pop off what I thought was a perfect headshot then shoot again because they didn't appear to go down. The thing is I think that shot really did hit their head but they're given a few miliseconds to fire back so they don't die instantly. This is most evident in SWAT but I notice it a lot in normal gametypes as well. What this saved film of a SWAT game and tell me if I'm crazy in thinking there's a significant lag.

No one should bother rendering it, pretty unspectacular game, but if you've got some time waiting for a party to get together, go ahead and watch.

Sounds like latency! Have you experienced latency before up there in the Pacific Northwest?

"expected" is something I've seen used on many occasions, rarely have those things gone as expected though :P

That was quite awesome indeed. He played smart IMO. Didn't just zerg the hill off spawn with an AR. :lol

Totally Agree, but apparently if you don't try to zerg every hill you aren't playing king of the hill properly :lol

Not latency. I don't have to lead my shots in the slightest. Line up a headshot on a guy sprinting across the map? No problem, don't have to lead or anything, the only problem is he won't actually die for another half a second. You know for damn sure it's not latency when you get 2 or 3 simultaneous shootdowns every single swat game with a hitscan weapon where Halo 3's BR didn't have even remotely the same amount of simultaneous deaths. It makes the gunplay feel sloppy. I can't count the number of times I think damn, can't believe that guy got away, only for him to die a half a second later, behind a wall and giving me the kill.

I did okay on my first game of arean. Then terrible my next two.

My rank is 1250 something in it. I got my three games in for the day, I'll do more later today to get my division.

I know exactly what you are talking about, but do you think it's maybe just a delay on the text telling you that you got the kill?

Sure he's not playing the game like you're suppose to but he's obviously very good at the "kill" aspect of the game.

No doubt, but it certainly helps when people aren't paying attention to him because they are actually trying to win the game.
