The sniper rifle is extremely lethal. Hell, one of the reasons I want the base player speed to be increased is because now it's too easy to get no scopes and headshots with the sniper rifle. I swear: I've died so many times shooting at a sniper, disrupting his scope, only to be somehow still shot in the head. :/

Also, about assassinations: Even though I only click the melee button very briefly, I still go into an assassination. Is this a glitch?

yea, i was enjoying the ability to have a few bad games in Arena and have it not affect my score as long as i clocked in some high scoring games for the day. It was simultaneously super hardcore and super casual...oh well, i'm not as competitive as i used to be anyways.

I have the same problem with assassinations. Well, and with snipers. But I think that's because my right button is a little sticky and doesn't "click" as much.

Spartan Armor require alot of resources and technology to manufacture.

It's powerful shit.

Especially when you consider Spartan and Elite Armor singlehandedly won the war.

Im talking purely from a gameplay perspective, getting too literal with the story and letting that affect the gameplay is a bad thing.

For real, I didn't feel too bad about matches where I was just off or my entire team quit and I got chain killed with power weapons since it didn't really matter, as long as I performed well in my top three. I thought it was a great system. They really need to change the daily rating to reflect all of your matches or get rid of it entirely if they stick with this, right now it's just dumb.
 
Went to bed early last night so that I'm able to stay up late tonight playing REACH all night! :D

Given how un-lethal the guns are now, that all seems a little light.
That's not even 5 kills for a perfect round of DMR'ing.


I'm very concerned about vehicles in Reach. Given all the anti-vehicle weapons now, and the movement options of AA. I just don't see where they end up as anything other then a deathtrap.
I feel that the shotgun is stronger then it is in H3 due to it's range matching the halo CE shotgun, the sniper is still a 1/2 hit instant kill weapon, 8 bullets is plenty even if you miss a few shots.

I just hope the DMR shines more in Invasion due to the bigger map size.
 
I don't get it... Bungie has done almost everything right it seems, a bit of fine tuning needed perhaps, but there's one POINTLESS addition.

I often find myself stuck to my victim's back when i'd rather be working towards my next kill, it happens when I don't mean it.

it's pointless and just gets in the way, every other feature has a role to play, assassinations are just silly cosmetic bullshit which should've been scrapped well before this beta.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with the names you guys give to the weapons. What's the other one again... Ah the nerfle = Needle rifle = Covy equivalent of the DMR?

The pro pipe is the grenade launcher

Pro-Pipe = Grenade Launcher. Grauncher is a better nickname, but whatcha gonna do?

I was under the impression that weapons were part of the loads-outs that get better as the game drags out? The Tier Unlocking things was supposed to introduce new weapon loads-outs right?

oh, and god damn is the baconator a terrifying weapon in the hands of a skilled player. its DEFINITELY a power weapon on the scale of the sniper and rockets.

Yeah, Grenade Launcher. It's nicknamed the pro-pipe because they're sorta making fun of Modern Warfare where everyone calls the grenade launcher weapon attachment the "noob tube".

So it's that thing. Man I picked it up twice and it wasn't good for my ego. I'm definitely not pro enough for that pipe.

Pick it up again. I had a hard time figuring out the timing, but it is a helluva good time to use once you "get" it. You can hold the trigger and it will detonate when you let up, or you can just unload it into someone's chest. Hitting a jetpack guy with the manual detonation is basically the best thing.

Edit: I am still firmly in the Grauncher camp.

Ahhhhhh! So the grenade fires as soon as you squeeze the trigger but it detonates when you release it? And what if you just fire normally? Does it detonate on impact? It almost seemed to me like it was bouncing all around flying through the bad guys but I guess that was just me being me.

A direct hit will detonate and kill another player. The normal shot will detonate after a few seconds.
I am intrigued by its effect on vehicles - I'm pretty sure it has en emp effect.

I didn't understand how to use it the entire first day I played, then it suddenly clicked. The more and more I practiced, the better I got.

Direct impact is insta kill, but you have to detonate pretty much right on them to kill with the trigger hold cook off.

And Pro Pipe 4 lyfe

-edit- You can also bank these bitches around corners to weed out dudes hiding with the oddball. On any objective game that involves people bunching up in one area, you should definitely do some Professional Piping.
 
Gah this is the absolute worst...

I am looking forward to playing Invasion, waiting anxiously for 11:00. However at 12:00 I have to leave home for three weeks to go work up north. So I am also hoping time slows to a crawl!

Why couldn't Invasion have come out a day earlier :(

So what's the benefit of cooking it up then? In case you're not on target or when bouncing it off a wall to get someone hidden behind walls or something?
