Once again. Once you're placed in a division, is it possible to move out of it within a season?
Yes. By either rocking harder than your peers or sucking harder than them by sufficient measure.

I'm hardly ever host, and my connection has been weird lately with Reach, so it's not that.

The music simply got me pumped.

Agreed, love the Firefight music in there, I wonder if it will be replaced by Reach music come Fall? (Unless Reach music is amazing, I actually hope not :lol ) Im going to bet on the Reach music being AMAZING at this point based on the main menu music though!

I dunno about anyone else but for some reason whenever I go for the Rockets on Powerhouse, I can't help but stare at this wall

Sad wall is sad :(

Yes, of my group of four three of us dropped from onyx to gold and one of us dropped from onyx to bronze:lol

The poor bastard :(

Preference setting: Has anyone changed their default 'Look' sensitivity setting?...in all previous halos, I couldn't function outside of 2/3. But in Reach, mostly in thanks to sprint, I've increase to 5. It allows for perfect reaction time and accuracy. Beyond that, I haven't altered any of the other controller settings.

Is Spartan Health supposed to charge back? It happens randomly, just a few bars, or all the way up, from any point it seems..

Currently on 10. It says Insane but its really not that mental.

Im going to avoid the Arena till I get more details on how it works, right now it seems like getting an amazing rating early is vital. Once your in a division even if you get high ratings, cos those ratings are against other people in your divison your stuck (unless you play alot and get lots of high ratings)?

So can someone explain what "Technician" means? The description says that you "performed an incredible feat." What does that actually mean?

I really think its when you get 3+ medals at once. Every time the commendation pops up for me at the bottom, that seems to be the case.

Dax is a propipe savant :/

What's he doing that is so hard? Aiming at people standing still and charging straight at you isn't hard. Get a DMR and poop on him from miles across the map and see how much of a savant he is. :lol

I just wanted to say that I share a lot of the same feelings being talked abou here. While I do not hate Invasion, I am a little disappointed. It feels like a hit and a miss. I think that maybe some re-working of the objectives would be really helpful. maybe instead of the first round being territories it should be something like plant multiple bombs. Or just destroy a generator.

Also, it is never fun if you dont get past phase 1, no matter what team you were on. Perhaps if the elites fail to get past phase 1 they fall back and the spartans push forward, for a minute or two for a last chance at getting further.

Also, I think after phase 1, the elites should get a 1 way shield door to contain the vehicles.

Why not just play how you play and get ranked where you rank? Either it will rank you wrong and you will dominate/get dominated or it will rank you right and you will have fun.

I always stare right next to rockets where the water is falling down the sides of the walls from the 4 holes.

I believe that's by design. The view warps on your periphery.

I found this great video of a game of Invasion on YouTube yesterday. The player provides commentary, and it is hilarious.
:lol That was a lot better than I thought it was going to be from the start.

Which link do I click on Bungie.net to see the Arena Division I have been placed in? Does it show immediately after getting the final day's rating, or does it take until the next day?

For some reason, I do a lot better in Invasion than Arena. My DMR shots actually do *GASP* kill people in 5-6 shots, instead of the 8 or 9 in the arena.

It will regen to the nearest third or so, something like that.

I swear I've recharged more than that, I'll have to go into Cinema next time I have time to play. Thanks for the answers guys (except Ghal, wth? :lol).

What is a good or bad ranking number? I hit about 1550 on a good day, and 1400 on a bad day... Is there an average or baseline? It's confusing that average isn't 1000, like a Chess ELO ranking.

My buddy lags like crazy in the Reach Beta. His voice chat cuts out like crazy and everything. And obviously, it makes it very hard to play the game for him. No idea what the problem is. When he plays other stuff like Bad Company 2 he's perfectly fine.

I think the average is expected to change as time goes on and people get better at the game, from what I gather getting 1630 type scores are Onyx though right?

Terrible. Just terrible.

Made the mistake of jumping into Arena again, just to see if the newfound DMR success would carry over.

Nope. Four shots to drop the shield. Reticule over the head. Deep breath. Fire. No kill. Fire again. No kill. Again. No kill. Again. No kill. That is up to FOUR body-shots on an unshielded opponent.

That was nice.

Everytime I read your avatar I smh :lol I don't have time to make a mega post now, hopefully I will by the end of the beta, but I've got a shit ton of work until the 18th, and then a couple more papers to do until the end of may. I'll make sure to write it nicely for urk and co :D

Obviously they lied and they just said that to piss people off.

Same with my friend. We tried to play today but every game we got into he said all he could see was a black screen and he could hear grenades detonating. Then he gets off and plays MW2 with perfect connection.

While the melee system has undergone a significant overhaul and we won’t be going back to the Halo 3 model, we do have a few pertinent issues preventing the new stuff from working exactly as we intended.

Overall I'm happy with what Bungie mentioned as 'fixes' to Reach in their weekly update. I'm glad to see they're not going to change anything foundational, or so I hope. I certainly don't want them to touch the DMR or the Pistol. Those weapons are perfect.

I made a post a while ago saying I didn't care anymore. I got used to the new melee system already. I just haven't changed it because I am lazy.

Why does the counter in Invasion always goes up to 7?

Elites are over powered as it is, making the timer go up to 7 makes things even worse

And I'm hoping that slightly more feedback with the increased delay will make it even more 'fair.' We'll see though.

That shouldn't really be the case. If one dude on a team goes +7 there needs to be some dude on the other team that is -7 to balance it out. (Or two dudes that are -3 and -4... but you know what I mean).

There shouldn't be any kind of point inflation over the lifetime of Reach, unless I am misunderstanding how the rankings work.

Although I guess it's possible that as Reach progresses the losing teams could lose "better" if things like accuracy are taken into account, resulting in higher scores. But K/D ratios will be the same now as they are two years from now, and it seems like that + assists is the foundation of the rankings...

Aim higher than you think with the Dmr. The bullet hits low in the reticule, so aiming high gets the head shot more often. Pretend you are William tell shooting for the apple.

Been playing some Invasion this weekend. My playtime has been pretty spread out and in short bursts as I'm really busy lately. Anyway, I like it. It's definitely something unique amongst other modes Halo offers. As I've said many times in this thread I really feel like Reach has improved upon classic game modes like Crazy King and CTF, and added awesome variants like Stockpile. Invasion feels really fresh though.

I've only played Invasion Slayer once, and I definitely liked it, but I have a few questions. First of all, what does taking the territories grant you? And second, the spawns for the Spartans need to be fixed. My team was camping the one spawn area and just murdering them with Swords and Shotguns when they spawned.

Boneyard is the perfect map for it. It's definitely big, and I like how Invasion keeps the combat moving to different parts of the map.

And since Boneyard is the only place in the beta where we get to use the Banshee, does anyone think it's overpowered? I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I've seen several people on opposing teams doing absolute work with it and destroying teams all by themselves. Like I said, I haven't got to use it, and have only played a few games of Invasion so it's just a brief impression.

/\

If anything, vehicles are too fragile. Two or three grenades can take out a tank, four people with DMRs can take down a Banshee in seconds.

Cool, I'll try that, thanks. Still, even if I missed the headshot four times, shouldnt four body-shots to an unshielded opponent still get a kill?

Eh, its frustrating, but I clean up on assists. I always have twice as many assists as anyone else in the game, just cause that last shot never hits, so someone can just run in and get one shot with anything for the kill.

Vehicles are best used for support. You can't really charge into battle with the Banshee any more. Switch to Fuel Rod and make bombing runs. With the wraith, stay back and bomb.

The tanks barely have room to move on Boneyard, though.

I'm a rocket launcher savant. Put one of those things in my hands and the other players may as well set the controller down.

One on one rocket launcher coaching. Only $15 an hour.

Feels like that for all the vehicles, really. It's a big map, but it doesn't have a lot of open ground for a vehicle to maneuver in. This is only made worse by the absurd number of power weapons available.

I need Pro-pipe lessons. I tend to pick it up but I really need to work on the accuracy and the time-shot stuff. Does the timed only do EMP damage?
