Halo: Reach Beta Thread

I am guessing cross game integration (Spartan in Tony Hawks), Overpriced DLC and 1 Halo game every year until Bungie disbands? :lol

So are Activision publishing Reach or is MS?

MS owns the Halo IP so there's little chance anyone would publish it.

Also this news is fucking crazy, I would've pegged Bungie to sign up for the EA Partners thing. At least it sounds like it's just a publishing deal and not them joining Activision but holy shit none the less.

Wait, what? What kind of partnership are we talking about here? An Infinity Ward "crank out a few best-sellers and die" partnership?

Bungie and Activision Announce Exclusive, Worldwide Partnership

Haha.

Well, good for them. I don't think anyone should mind if Bungie develops multiplatform games as long as the games they release continue to be fuck-awesome.

Activision is a bit of a concern, because the company has a bad reputation, but I'm sure Bungie will know how to deal with them.

Anyhow, congrats Bungie.

Where's my F&F invite?

Goddamn fucking piece of shit. GODDAMN! And just after I swore I'd never buy another CoD because of the way Activision's ruthlessly churns out releases every goddamn six months just to rape your wallet. Now Bungie, one of the last devs out there who seems to give a damn about a game for the game's sake jumps in fucking bed with them?

Day ruined.

Expertise my ass. If true, Activision probably just offerred more money than Microsoft did.

Well it's been fairly heavily hinted Bungie were looking to make whatever their non-Halo projects are as multiplatform titles. They couldn't do that with Microsoft so I doubt it was down to money.

Meh, Bungie is still Bungie, I doubt they'd enter any kind of contract that would put them on in the same situation they left.

Looks like their new IP will get the publishing muscle it deserves.

It doesn't effect Reach or this Beta one bit though. :D

Bungie may have wanted to go multiplatform, so that rules Microsoft out. Also, Microsoft has been a huge pain in the ass over the years, so it was probably more a competition between Activision and EA.

I c what u did thar Bungie, butter us up with the Beta.

Then you sit us down to tell us the truth of why you're so happy... It's not because of us it's because of Activision. :(

Welcome to $20 map packs for Bungie game X. Oh, and don't forget their new Online Paid Service they are going to have for CoD.

Well, Bungie had a good run...

But no, seriously, as much as I've dislike MS's handling of Bungie's games they go to fucking Activision? The fuck...

I'm on my phone while at work. I can try to send you some but can't promise that I will send you a ton. I get stuck on calls for most of the day.

Pretty much. I understand wanting to get some publishing muscle behind them but there are far better choices than Activision. I hope Bungie is ready to make a kick ass game because if they're partnered with them I highly doubt I'm going to purchase a retail copy.
Yes, I'd rather give Gamestop my money than Activision.

So have the community F&F codes already gone out? I just need to know when to start crying. Thanks.
No, but word is that people on the community list have already been told they're getting the invites.

No, but those who are getting them received a PM telling them as much.

If you haven't got a PM, you aren't getting a code, unless you win a giveaway somewhere.

I hope to god they got an amazing deal with a shitload of autonomy and Activision has absolutely no influence in what Bungie does only how many millions they throw at them.

I mean, really, Activision?

pain in the ass? why? because their marketing made halo a billion dollar franchise?

All I can say is thank fuck Microsoft own the Halo license.

Edit: and I never thought I'd say that, but I guess it's the lesser of two evils!

Can't wait for 343i's reveal now.

If you're going to cry, cry into this. *hands cup*

They are already heading out, so unless you have gone into any Twitter competitions etc, you might be out of luck.

Oh god no, things were supposed to get better now! Man if playlists get held hostage by map packs again...

Please tell me I'm overreacting, will Activision control that sorta stuff?

Because of the whole DLC fiasco. But with Activision, I can only see there being even more DLC fiascos. I would have been much more at ease with EA. Fuck, wait and see I guess.

That was totally unexpected

Smartest reaction anyone has had.

Bungie aren't stupid, they must've made sure this contract is air fucking tight so they don't get screwed over. It's certainly a surprising choice especially considering what is currently going down with Activision but I've got faith Bungie knows what they're doing.

This is horrible news. The way that the Halo 3 map packs were handled was absolutely terrible, probably the worst yet for a MP game. I dread to see what Activision does to future Bungie titles.

I heard the first line of the contract says

"Keep Kotick the fuck away from us!"

QFT. Dear God, Bungie. I hope you survive this particular decision.

Yea, it's hard not to feel numb towards Reach and the prospect of decent continued support. I mean, I wasn't especially optimistic in the first place but this is taking the piss.

Bungie & Activision...

if only it was EA, oh man.

The most important it's that Bungie stays independent... but 10 years... the first one will take 4 years to be developed and then we will get 6 sequels ? :lol

As long as Bungie makes great games. It won't matter.

As for the Beta, I am going to be trolling the rendered files all day. You F&F guys need to be dumping some awesome shit on there.

Bungie is not dumb. I'm sure they learned a lot from their relationship with MS and I sure they were paying very close attention to the IW situation. All this tells me is that they are going multi-platform which is a good thing.

So I guess put me in the cautiously optimistic camp.

10 Years = 10 games. Believe!

Exactly. What does this mean for Reach and the ongoing support? DLC for Reach, updates?
