I'm pretty sure they knew how this would be received. I'm also pretty sure they know it will eventually die down and no one will care if the new IP is good enough.derFeef said:Would be interesting to see Bungie´s reaction watching our reactions.
You people underestimate Activision...wwm0nkey said:Also Activision only has publishing rights, they have no IP rights or anything, so all they can do is slap their logo on before the start of a game and nothing more, Bungie has all creative freedom![]()
With maps getting pulled from Campaign you pretty much have nothing to worry about. Besides quality. Which will be a huge worry because that's pretty much never worked well before.Wizman23 said:So back to the Reach talk after getting steamrolled by the Activision announcement. One thing that has me concerned for Reach is lack of maps. Not lack of overall maps, just how the maps are divided up. Halo 1, 2 and 3 all launched with around 12 MP maps. The problem with Reach is that there are 3 different categories maps fall in: Classic MP, Invasion, and whatever the firefight mode is. I just hope when Reach launches each category will have more then 4 maps to choose from. Bungie keeps saying that this is their biggest project ever. I hope each MP category will have plenty of maps to chose from on launch, not just a few for each category.

The repeater is more akin to the assault rifle in power while the plasma rifle will remain a weaker variation. The reasoning behind this is the repeater would just shit on us in campaign so they're leaving them with plasma rifles.Wiggum2007 said:Plasma rifles are in campaign? edit: forgot to add my obligatory "fuck activision". argh.
Sounds really shady.LunaticPuma said:Anyone who gets into the F&F should feel obligated to share their XBL account with any friends they trust so they can download the beta too. I did it during the Halo 3 F&F. All someone has to do is download the beta from the account history section then sign online to play using the original F&F GT. After that, sign in the second GT (like signing in a guest) then the first GT can be signed out and account recovered by original owner. The only downside is that the second GT can't sign out of the beta and log back on.

Maybe the new IP just sucks? Bungie's new IP to be a Barbie's Horse Adventures knock-off confirmed!Dirtbag said:I think the only thing that worries me about Activision and Bungie together is DLC pricing.
Beyond that, I don't think Bungie would allow their publisher to have the same level of creative control that they were trying to escape in MS. I do wonder what happens to MS's "Right of First Refusal" though and how it relates to this development.

It works though, but the beta is probably going to go up on several modding sites soon anyways.Dani said:Sounds really shady.

Can't be overstated.Shake Appeal said:I'm pretty sure they knew how this would be received. I'm also pretty sure they know it will eventually die down and no one will care if the new IP is good enough.
Yeah my guess is they'll pop up often with the activation of a skull but otherwise will be limited to very few encounters. Speaking of skulls, I hope they have more 'goofy' ones in Reach. I'm not good enough to go through campaign with a ton of difficult skulls turned on but I enjoyed the goofy ones.Dirtbag said:I hope the repeater makes a limited appearance in campaign, or maybe there is a skull that upgrades elite weaponry to repeaters. Joke post or semi-serious? Activision can't make Bungie do anything.Sanjuro Tsubaki said:So what happened? Bungie is making Call of Halo 7: The Big Lazer Gun?

Son of Godzilla said:Isn't the whole point of the Repeater not showing up in campaign that an unlimited ammo weapon would break the pacing?
They don't; Bungie mentioned that it's a little too powerful to be in the campaign. I guess the AI is too intelligent to be given a weapon like that. Can't wait to try all this stuff out.Pennybags said:The default plasma rifle has never fired quite as fast. The plasma repeater is beefed up in order to compete with the assault rifle.
We don't even know whether the repeater appears in the campaign, right?

I wonder what new skulls they've got cooking for campaign.

$$$, the guartanee of two games (ODST & Reach) and the retain the IP (which they had already, but no required Bungie ties etc).Bungieware said:Another question is what exactly did Microsoft get off of Bungie for letting them go apart from Halo: Reach? Microsoft had them for almost 10 years, and then Bungie go and put themselves in Activisions pocket for another 10...?
I saw that earlier, but want to wait until I get to try the beta before I comment on how well the Reach pages work with it.Dani said:

iirc they tightened up the bullet spread on it(no bullets hit outside of the circle now) and increased the range slightly because of this.Bungieware said:I don't mean to offend you, but I think you're being very naive.
Anyway, does anyone know if the range of the shotgun has increased at all? In one of the videos I saw it seemed to have a greater range.
