Playlist data pending download? :o

Hurray! Searching for players!

Played my first game, went stalker with the pistol, got first place, with 20 kills. Sadly all I am getting now is data pending download.

So that's why you're too cool to join a party...
I was trying to see if I could play with the guys in my party chat. Except every time I joined his game it would say servers unavailable. I want to play all the noobs :(. That first game we played was pretty sweet. Except for the fact that you stole my hammer :lol

One more hour till I can leave work and join the masses crashing the servers. :lol Hopefully it'll cool down a bit this evening, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm surprised to see so many complaints about the graphics, I mean this is without doubt the most technologically impressive game on the 360 and visually its the only game on the system that can compete with the PS3's best. I can understand people not being a fan of the ghosting artefacts caused by the temporal antialiasing but they're really not something that I notice all that much and the really nice amount of aa it brings to the table makes it a worthwile trade off imo. Its something Bungie could easily just leave as an option in the final iteration and I hope that's something they do as I'd like to see it stay, personally.

The big game changers visually are the object based motion blur (which is always welcome) a really nice and subtle but artefact free SSAO implementation and a huge increase in the nuber of dynamic lights, oh and lets not forget the massive leap in generatl image quality (nice increase in resolution + decent texture filtering + an aa solution) as well. I was expecting either effects or image quality to increase, not both. Oh, and then there's the much better texturing and modelling, and with the better image quality you can appreciate these improvements. I said it earlier in the thread but this is a generational leap. Halo 3 was Bungie phoning it in, there can be denying that now, I always assumed it was the case but Reach is the indisputable evidence. Can't wait to see what they can do on PC now! :D

Special Elite armor in the Limited, that +flaming helmet in the Legendary.

alright, thanks! Might not upgrade then because all I really want is the flaming helmet, but my wife would kill me if she knew I paid $150 for REACH

So, I finally was allowed to download the Beta, which took about 50 minutes to accomplish.

Then on the matchmaking screen it continuously said it was "loading playlist." I gave it five minutes then backed out and went back into that screen — at that point, it straight-up told me the Reach servers aren't available and I should try again later.

For goodness freaking sakes, Bungie, you really don't want me to play your beta, do you?

There are plenty of games on X360 that easily hang with the PS3's best. Just that some are multiplat games.

I don't see it personally, but because I know that you know your shit - I'm just going to agree that Reach looks miles better than Halo 3 :lol

I guess I need screenshot comparisons or something.

Was actually able to get a game in. However, 4 people lagged out of the pre-game lobby. 1 flag CTF. Me against 3 people. SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!...yea not really. Cock sucker with sprint and hammer thinks he's good. No simultaneous beatdown on that though huh? I wasn't able to start a game after that though. I'm just going to wait until tomorrow to play. I might just go out and get Super Street Fighter IV. Meh, we'll see.

Enjoy the beta to those just getting in!

I totally get why people don't like Pro, but over the last 4 days, it's become easily my favorite.

Edit: damn my 1700 game didn't count, I guess. :/

Go play Halo 3, that will be enough.

No, there's really not. Reident Evil 5 is probably the only game I could imagine someone making this argument for. Everything else? Not so much. Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and now Reach are a genuine step above your top tier multiplats.

I disagree. IMO, MW2 looks better than KZ2 and I'd say AssCreed2, RE5, Batman: AA and Gears2 easily hang with Uncharted2 and GoW3

EDIT: GoW3's sense of scale is probably the only thing I haven't seen equalled on X360.

For emblems, I'm pretty sure
hoping and praying
that they are going to bring back a lot more emblems for the retail release, and that they didn't include all of them in the beta for whatever reason.

I mean, the third emblem (the blue one) here seems like it'll be in the game, but it's not in the beta.

Plus, this update shows emblems like Marathon, Capsule, and others that aren't in the beta. I think they're safe.

(and here comes ManCannon/urk/lukems to crush my dreams :lol )

I don't know why it'd be hard to see!? Literally everything has improved. Number of dynamic light source, texturing, modelling, environment poly count, shadow filtering, ssao, motion blur, resolution, aa, texture filtering, post processing, particles, transparency effects, they've all seen a nice bump. Maybe you don't notice one effect by itself (though the bump in resolution and the better texture filtering are difficult to miss, as is the object based motion blur) but collectively they have a huge impact, and really set the game apart from its (frankly disapointing) prequel.

All the things Halo 3 did well are still there as well ofcourse, the 4 player split mode (with online and a steady framerate), the lack of tearing, the HDR lighting, the recorded movies and the skyboxes but everything else is just flat out better (ghosting aside, but that's a tradeoff like I said and one I'm happy to back).

WTF just happened.

Plat SWAT, 9/10 deaths are people getting one shot headshots on me with pistols and DRM's. How is this possible? Literally every death is by a one shot headshot

My Beta is completely broken. I tried switching over to the Arena, and it's just loading forever. I can't even switch back because it's loading.

Sucks.

Never played Swat before?

No shield mode. Call of duty esque.

Just got through a couple more Arena games and I've been dominating. However, doesn't look like any of the games are showing up in my service record and I've yet to receive a daily rating (played 5 or 6 now, been around 1625-1675 my last couple). Do you think these games will be counted once the servers get back up to par?

Actually this is the answer I should have gave! :lol

As for MW2 matching up!? :lol I can only assume its a joke, I mean, really now, lets not act silly, this route leads to people giving COD4 the "best graphics" award over Crysis. GOW3, yes I should have included that, I just forgot to mention it.

I've noticed the same thing over the last few days. Been driving me nuts.

So...I can't play anything. haha I got to play one game of Arena and now nothing will load. Anyone know what's up? Some people are saying to download through ODST now but I really don't want to. I like booting from my dash.
