Halo: Reach Beta Thread

So how do you turn around while jetpacking or sprinting?
 
Wow, just noticed that I'm just 1 DMR kill away from tying it with my most used "weapon", melee. Gotta make sure to use it and the Pistol some more to get those stats to the first and second slots (which I'd prefer them to be).

Guess that shows how Bungie's made the game less Melee+AR than Halo 3, or how they need to fix Melee. :lol

1.13 K/D
+150 with the AR
+180 with the DMR
+55 with the grenades
-90 with pistol
-60 with melee
-40 with the pistol

By all means keep using the pistol. Just dont be shocked to die from a grenade+AR followup, especially in the innards of Swordbase. The AR is a great CQC weapon, and an assist machine on team games.

But by all means, keep saying it is trash so Bungie will boost its accuracy or power somewhat. :lol

Different people have different playstyles. I dont like the pistol as anything more than a mid-range stop-gap till I get my hands on the DMR or NR.
 
I did hate Covy Slayer, until I learn to embrace the Evade. The pacing and frantic fire-fights really make it awesome to play. After the relativity slow pace of playing a Spartan, playing Elite is just so much fun.

If you ain't Evading every few seconds, you're doing it wrong!

WTF? that's probably the second best game type after vanilla Slayer IMO. The Elites are crazy fun to roll around with.

Preparing to go home and try this thing out, but I've got a couple of questions..

1. How big is the beta? Or rather, how much crap will I need to clear off my 20GB HDD in order to play?

2. Will I be able to pop in ODST, download the new client, and then put ODST away? Or do I have to keep my ODST disc at the ready to play Reach?

1. 1.15gb took about 7 -10 mins.

2. You have to have the ODST disk in and started to play the Beta from ODST's main menu.
 
Don't want to beg or anything, but does anyone know where some EU codes are being distributed? It'd be nice to get one even by the time the beta is wrapping up.
 
Just won a CTF with a semi-competent team. You might be invisible, but I know you're hiding round that corner. How do I know? You're always hiding round that corner.

So when there are issues like today and companies say they are working on it, how often are they actually doing...stuff? I don't know, I'm not a computer guy at all anymore and I know most recently with the PS3 leap year problem, Sony basically just said wait a day and see what happens. Is there anything Bungie can do or is it just wait for the mad rush to die down a little bit. Buy new servers maybe?

My two most enjoyable games of slayer so far have been Covies; today in fact. Evade is seriously fun.
 
Ok, soo the playlist finally loaded, but my Spartan is still all black and it won't let me change anything.. WTF bungle

Thanks, never saw that vid. If everything else didn't already give it away (Network Test 1, two-player split screen), the map layout just screams "Firefight". Can't wait.

Covie slayer is the most fun you can have in Halo without wheels. Period. :-) An all Elite playlist, with every gametype would be pure win.

Im in your party lets dong bro. If you like back out a couple times everything usually loads.
