Halo: Reach Beta Thread

Umm...not really. Yeah it takes a bit to get used to it but once you do you can destroy people with it.

Well than please share the secret, cause I've nailed guys dead on with the damn thing and half the time the thing doesnt even explode.

If it has to bounce once, fine, but it would have been nice if the first multiplayer trailer didnt show someone annihilating someone with it at close range, no bounce.

I do agree that after the first win it should swap the teams. It feels like you only play half a game the way it currently works.

Anyone else find it infuriating that the spawn beeping no longer matches the exact time you spawn in Invasion?? Petty complaint I know but holy shit, it annoys me to no end.

If I get behind the wheels of a warthog, I just ignore the match and spend my time just driving it around in the initial part of the map where noone will bother me. :) I love the Reach version, looks so nice (Halo CE green color!! I think), sounds cool, has sweet physics and controls well.

It does explode on contact with a dude.

There are a few shots in there with contact explosions. I captured this from the beta.

That is by design in the Beta, to get as many test games in as possible. The full game will swap sides.

They said that it would most likely be that way in retail. They just want to get more games pushed through during the beta.

Edit: dammit, ghal!

It's been said numerous times this is specifically the case just for the beta to keep games shorter and to keep people moving through matchmaking. In the final game it will be round-based with players getting a shot at both offense and defense.

EDIT: Beaten horribly. Why do I try. :)

Just for that.. here's a scoop of Urk's update: Banhammer anti-quitter measures are now deployed into the field. WITNESS THE POWER OF THIS FULLY OPERATIONAL BATTLE STATION.

Fix the spawn beeping sound timing please!

Invasions kinda... yeah... :/ Last part on Boneyard, the core? Hop from objective set 2's B/A (whichever is near it) all by myself. Grab core. Rush it out the door. I dunno if that was a dumbass team, or a horrible map gaffe. But you don't put two objectives near eachother where I can drop in. Go "HI THERE!" grab it and book. :lol

Invasion Slayer is awesome. Need more of that. Esp. as the Elites. Dodge. <3

Oh shit, son.

So, what are they?

I wonder if this will apply to connection issues that result in regular disconnects because of either an issue with the Xbox hardware or the cable connecting the modem to the console. It isn't the fault of the internet provider because the computer connection to the world wide web continues to flutter away.

Only time will tell I suppose.

Just had a bugged game of invasion slayer which had no abilities, everyone has AR start (even elites) and no secondary weapon, two frags each, drop points were not working even when captured. :lol it was unfair due to elites being stronger so we quit about 25 kills in.

I will upload a video clip of it for Bungie.

Boy does it piss me off when dimwits don't know how to play objective matches.

And it's a real shame because it gets heightened by the fact that my party keeps getting split between Spartans and Elites so I have to rely on these dimwits...

Had an excellent match just now where me and my friends got 25 kills each, half the kills, carrying the team to victory...

That makes me nervous. My internet connection is mostly stable, but some nights it just poops out.

I dun want to feel the hot slap of the Banhammer because of my service providers failure!

Dream Crusher, indeed.

Can anyone explain how the scoring works? As the elites we capture a point in phase 1 and 2 but we do not carry the core so the spartans get 3 points?
Elites get a point for every step they progress to. If they take the ship, the core case and take the core to the Phantom, they get three points. Spartans only get points at the end of the round but it's a binary three or nothing. Honestly points don't really matter at all.

I really hate the weight on all the vehicles.
They feel like a chore to drive. The warthog turret is such a big letdown.
And given the multitude of anti-vehicle measures, this feels like halo 2 all over again:
If it's not a tank (or banshee), don't bother.

Somebody quit! See what happens! You won't!

Just had my Arena games, did pretty good. Finally got above 1600, so hopefully that elevates me out of the Copper division.

Oh, the Pistol is a monster. That is all. :lol

Elite start is hard, yes. I never played with Stalker enough, so I never got very good at approaching with it. Spartans get a DMR start and an AR with Pistol start, and they have one or two free DMR spawns next to them. Spartans have the best chance to shut out at that point.

I don't really have much of a feel of the other two phases. Usually they end with me suppressing dudes from the other side of the map.

I want a possible win for slayer to be to capture 15 or 20 supply points.

Oh, and I bothered Letters with messages while he was in theater mode. Sorry about that.

TOO MANY QUITTERS!

Honestly, too many people in party chat as well. I'm glad the game tries to prioritize putting people in party chat together, but most of the time there's one odd guy out with a teammate he can't communicate with.

Playing this with a friend is fun. Playing it with strangers can sometimes be fun. Playing it with silent strangers makes me want to stop playing.

I really think that the Spartans have a big advantage in invasion. In phase 3 the spartans just camp the core with fucking scorpion or warthogs it is so stupid. Also correct me if I am wrong but as elites you have to complete all 3 phases to win but as a spartan you only have to stop them on 1 phase to win? Right now it seems overpowered toward the spartan side. Maybe that is why I only enjoy playing when I have a spartan.

Ran into a bug though: I was under attack and the host dropped resulting in the server choosing a new host. Once the game came back my shields were at maybe 30% and never replenished! Beeped forever...annoying :(

Also, same instance, but I got a "first strike" after the game started again, which obviously was wrong since this was midway through the game. Funny thing is, that game I got the first strike at the beginning of the round, so I ended with 2 "first" strike medals! :lol

Yes.

Thank you.

Quitters in ANY game can lick my ass. Can't wait to read or hear what happens to them.

The grenade launcher absolutely explodes on contact, which is the main reason for most of my kills with it. Also, it is fun to cook a grenade near a door when you see an enemy on radar and blow them sky-high as they walk through. :D

Played a game of Slayer Invasion about thirty minutes ago. Didn't have fun with it at all; it was just confusing and chaotic all around.

It's usually playing with strangers that talk that makes me want to stop.
