I pity those that allow the last 5 minutes of a game to ruin the entire experience for them.

I love the entire game except for the writing in the last mission (and seeing how that mission alone can take an hour to 90 min, i think its a viable gripe), the ending didnt piss me off as much as other people, i was just like......k that just happened.

Oh and there were a lot of morphed faces in my game and dubbing issues with cutscenes? did anybody get that as well. Like the eyes would disappear and then the dubbing would be WAY OFF!

and the whole switching between disks to play a game was just unbearable. like i think i switched my disk about 20 times cause i kept doing side missions then main missions, then i got to the last third of the game and i thought it would all be on disk two and it would be great. BUT NO the last mission is somehow on disk one and not disk two...allrighty then...

But overall as a package i would say play it! To get the best ending (without mods), you should play multiplayer, it helps a lot. It took me atleast 30 hours to finish the game, plus about 20 more on multiplayer, so good package I had a lot of fun with it.

I wasn't speaking specifically about you, just saying in general.

Don't recall that ever happening to me.

Sounds awful, but I played on PC so that was a non-issue.

You can easily get the best ending by making smart choices throughout the trilogy and doing all the sidequests without playing any multiplayer if you downloaded the free DLC Extended Cut. It reduces the required War Assets for the best ending, and it also fleshes out and changes some bits of the ending. My first time beating the game was with the Extended Cut installed so lucky for me I missed out on all the nerd rage.

Giantbomb made a pretty compelling case that playing the game with Leviathon and From Ashes as well as the extended cut really fleshes out the endings far more. Makes them far better to the point where it's almost insulting to the early players.

Got a link? Sounds intriguing.

It was a podcast just before their GOTY ones last year. Brad hadn't played ME3 or heard about any of the endings and played through it with all that stuff. Vinny had played it prior to Leviathan and then again with it. I'll send you a link when I find it.

pretty decent (no midnight release buyer but i really enjoy the series), yes, and i believe yes?
is that with synthesis

No, the extended cut is the new ending they released for free, it adds more cutscenes and dialogue to the final mission.

Let's just say that after Mass Effect 3 ended, I was filled with profound anger and disappointment. I know you shouldn't let it ruin the experience, but it completely ruined the game for me, and everything I felt playing the first two games, especially Mass Effect 1. Invalidated my choices, completely went against what was established. All in all, it was one of the worst endings I've ever seen in the history of games, definitely worse than Halo 2.

When the controversy happened, someone summed it up best on twitter. They said it was like eating some cereal. Not only regular cereal, but the best tasting cereal ever. You are really enjoying it, it reminds you of your days as a kid eating cereal before school and right as you get to the end of the bowl, you see a small piece of shit at the bottom. Now no matter how good that cereal tasted or how it made you feel, all you can think, taste or see is the small piece of shit at the end. And it completely makes you queasy and ruins whatever enjoyment you had from eating the cereal. LOL. Was a good analogy no? That said, I think the folks at BioWare did a good job listening to some fans, you have to realize they work under EA and they did release some really great DLC after.

The game was great, it was an awesome wrap up of the trilogy. Also my favorite new IP of this generation. The whole uproar about the last minutes of the game was really overblown and I think because of that we lost two amazing game designers. Very sad situation.

What happened to that rumor where it said that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters alone went into a room and wrote the ending together. As stupid and impossible as that sounds/is I still don't know whether it was confirmed false or not.

Let's just say, without getting into specifics, it wasn't necessarily a rumor. Internet detectives deduced it as the truth and a certain person did damage control after. Won't say much else. It's why the entire mission plays so different than the rest of the game and why it sort of comes out of left field.

I always wonder those who say it was overblown or that they can't understand the backlash, whether they were huge fans of the series from the first game.

Hmmm, well regardless that was a very poor decision on BioWare's part; but they made a little better with the Extended Cut. I think some of the people who don't understand it haven't waited nearly 4 years like fans who bought the first on Day 1. That's a pretty long time of devotion to just blow them over like that, it was pretty garbage (the vanilla ending).

What does this even mean, youngin'.
It means I'm acting like a modern day teenager
asshole who wasn't around for the Atari age RIP Ghazi

My brother got a 3DS for his birthday, and there was no charger included in the package. What kind of bullshit is that!?

You didn't know that it doesn't include a charger anywhere but the US? Yeah, it's some pretty hardcore bullshit in the name of "cutting costs"

The XL's in Japan and apparently Europe don't have a charger with them. They assume you're upgrading from an OG 3DS to cut costs. It's pretty lame.

For reference it also uses the DSi charger I believe, so they would be thinking you could be upgrading all the way from back when that was out.

Guys, I got a call this morning. Turns out, I'm going to be an extra in Season 2 of Vikings. Hopefully this thread won't go to Asgard before I do.

All that Norse mythology in Halo gonna be channeled to extreme.

I completed the first game maybe 4 times, the second 3 or 4 times and the third twice. So yeah...I think it was overblown.

And by completed I mean completed, not rushed. All games bought day 1 as well.

Have any of you guys played Destiny? That's a real classic, I'm enjoying it now on my SNES as part of my retro gaming marathon!

Anyone else going to miss 360 avatars? I kind of enjoyed them, even if the only thing I bought was a T. rex
because T. rex.
it also really helped me with identifying people I didn't know from real life on my friends list.

I know MS says they're still going to support them but their tone makes it sound like they aren't going to invest much thought into it. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Not really, but their comments on how they think everyone will use pictures makes me think it's not going to be front-and-center (also: switching to cash from MS points maybe means people won't spend as much on clothes? I dunno.)

Considering how much the Dash changed over time they might just phase them out in the future once and for all.

wait...the extended cut is DLC i thought it just updated when i installed the game...

Oh well, viewed em on the youtubes, not too much i missed. It just fleshed it out more, which i like.

playing as a Krogan in multiplayer is so much fun, it made grinding for about 2 weeks all worth it....kinda.

The problem is that they overdid all of the preliminary decisions that we had to make over two games, they created plotholes for themselves and they could not bring it all together and a lot of it felt rushed not right. Lots of ideas didnt pan out in the right way at all.
I swear i thought that the rachni would be a turning point seeing as i spent like an hour and a half in the first game saving their asses and about another hour finding out about their turning and again saving their asses. And Harbinger was a part of the war wasnt he not, going from main bad guy to just another soldier that is mentioned once sucked
btw
didnt shepard have first name I swear i heard them at like some sort of spectre reward ceremony?

That analogy...it works but makes me not want to eat cereal for a good while....WHY I LOVE CEREAL!!!

Mass Effect 3 doesn't exist to me.

If you have the question of "why?" running around in your head...just read up on who wrote it. Thanks EA, for thinking that a woman who hates video games would write a great video game -_-

Hey, 343i hired people who dislike Halo and look at the amazing end result of that!

oh wait

Seriously though... Mass Effect 3 was pretty badass. I made some pretty shitty choices in my first play through and it made me sad.
Anderson dying even more so. Dem feels
. Actual ending was alright though. I didn't have a problem with it like most people (as someone who bought all three games at release)... but potato potato. Can't wait to see how the universe progresses - or whatever else - in Mass Effect 4.

So. I kinda got locked in a park last night. Pretty amazing stuff if you ask me. I don't even know how it happened. It just happened.
