The whole "animal+ball" idea is getting stale at this point (not that it has been done to death or anything)...

Though, that's about the only similarity between this and Super Monkey Ball (I doubt you actually tilt the entire house). It's as if they have combined SMB with Toy Commander.

Yeah, apart from the "animal in ball"-concept it doesn't seem to have that much in common with Super Monkey Ball...I mean, it doesn't look like a strict puzzle game with isolated stages, more like a free-roaming type of game with a different setting as well.

Are these games actually good? I have Monkey Ball 1 & 2 of course, but I wouldn't mind a more quest-oriented knockoff.

Hamsterball by Raptisoft is actually pretty fun. I'm partial to the little creatures myself (I blame the girlfriend) so my opinion might be slightly skewed but it plays out like a whimsical Marble Madness more so than Super Monkey Ball. It's certainly not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. It's a perfect game for children I believe but I wouldn't know how difficult it gets later on.

In fact there's a free demo to try out and it's fewer than 6mb:

Another Cale classic.
Almost proof, as he buys more Ferraris, that there is no god.

A Myth Busters game would be 107 times better than whatever that Myth Makers thing is.

Re: Super Monkey Ball; I rented Metroid Prime today (late ohnoes) and realised how awesome it would've been for Samus in her Morph Ball to be an unlockable character in SMB.

Yeah, it's very fun & the fixed perspective keeps it from feeling like a Monkey Ball ripoff!

Why is SMB called "SUPER Monkey Ball"? Was there a "Monkey Ball" before it?... sort of like Mario/Super Mario or Metroid/SuperMetroid.

Yes. At the arcade. You used a giant banana to control Aiai.

Saw this in OPS2 UK a while back. They were really harsh about it. I'm surprised Sega hasn't sued Phoenix. :lol

It makes sense that they would, but then you realize Sega can't afford lawyers anymore.

This would have been much better if they made the hamster look like an actual hamster instead of their stupid mascot.

Habitrail? Don't they make hamster cages?

..I thinkk I have one of those :lol
Yes they do, I'm pretty sure they're the most popular brand of hamster cages.

They're great for beginning owners but nothing beats a nice aquarium (with nontoxic glue of course). It's cheaper and easier to clean, not to mention it eliminates the problem of having a stuck hamster in a tube. Yes they're cute creatures but they're ridiculously stupid.
