Always gotta be someone to bring the thread down, yeah, he was, he fucked up and it's inexcusable but people change. Let's celebrate the man for what he has done in the grand scheme of things.

That's a very dismissive attitude for something that you say was inexcusable. If you are going to talk the man, you shouldn't just waive away something as serious as beating his wife. This wasn't just a slap in the face. Just cause he was entertaining (and let's not forget we're talking about how good an entertainer he was, it wasn't even like he was doing charity or good works for the world) doesn't mean that we should overlook something like wife beating.

I mean I liked the guy too and I was hoping it wasn't true (this thread is how I learned of that) so I understand wanting to ignore that. But it really shouldn't be something ignored. And yes, this does change my opinion on him.

Anyone got a gif of him running over Vince's limo with a monster truck?

My favorite Stone Cold moment. haha

My son was born on March 16th.
I almost went with Austin as a middle name, but I had already picked out one I liked.

Lol, I don't know about this, man.

I have enjoyed Austin's inring career but lets not brush away the fact that he did beat his wife. It's a pretty big "fuck up."

Report me for trolling ND/TLoU2 threads
probably the most iconic themes that would erupt a crowd, and one of the most iconic finishers as well. Especially when you had JR sell it.

His theme (Glass breaking) is also probably the best wrestling theme of all time.

I dont follow wrestling much anymore (aside from the odd WM or RR every now and then) and I havent followed it for more than a decade but even now if I hear a glass breaking somewhere part of me immediately wants to shout "STONE COLD! BAH GAWD! THE TEXAS RATTLESNAKE IS HERE!".

Simply the best, with one of the most iconic intro in the story of wrestling and one of the best finishers. Great at micro, great at promo, great at wrestling, it doesn't get better than this, that guy oozes charisma. I like everything about his career, including the "what?"

Happy 3:16 Austin, I miss you.

Steve Austin, the character, didn't beat his wife. Steve Williams, the person, did.

Just like how Hulk Hogan has a 10 inch penis but Terry Bollea doesn't.

Is there a GIF of some cunt in the audience hitting Austin in the head with a beer after his match? I want to say it was No Way out v HHH around 2000. Right before Mania 17

The best thing he did was the thing with Pillman's house.

Best promo was the one "put the letter S in front of Hitman and you'll have my exact opinion of Bret Hart."

Everything from his WM title win onward is garbage and set the stage for 10 years of Cena overcoming the odds.

Either you consider domestic abuse irredeemable or you don't. If you think people can change, that they can own up to their mistakes and rehabilitate, then I don't see why it's necessary to bring this up -- 10 or 15 years down the road. I mean, if it comes up it comes up. Address it. No reason to hide the truth. But do you really want to be the guy that brings it up when it's, at this point, ultimately irrelevant?

Anyway, fun thread! :D

Stunning Steve is still the best Austin.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
He did indeed beat his wife and it was a terrible thing but I also like to think people can change, especially years down the road. Is it a huge mistake, a blight on his record even? Yeah I'd say so but he hasn't had any sort of issue like that pop up in well over a decade and he has done a lot of good outside the ring including charity work and also he's been pretty vocal about some important things that you wouldn't expect him to be. He's big on gay marriage for example and has espoused his beliefs openly and loudly on his very popular podcast.

Is he perfect? By no means but he also doesn't seem to be a wreck of a human being with no or little redeemable qualities contrasted to his crimes and issues.

I went through a huge WWF(E) phase during the time of Stone Cold and The Rock. They were 100x more entertaining than anything since the old Hulk/Macho Man/Ultimate Warrior/Andre the Giant days.

I tried watching Cena and these new guys, and it's just not the same, IMO. Or maybe I've changed....

Anyways, stunner is one of the best moves of all time, because it can come out of nowhere and is just so satisfying to watch.

I do have to say the whole "What?" thing was a misstep though. That was realllllly annoying, trying to watch Stone Cold get through a speech.

Anyways, I'm not a big wrestling fan anymore or anything, but I still try to catch or at least YouTube when I see Stone Cold doing some special event or something.

I feel the same. The Rock is my favorite wrestler ever, and I stopped when he officially quit and did movies. I tried going back and these new cats just do not do it for me.

There's always a jobber in the crowd that's deserving of a stone cold stunner followed by double birds.
