On December 2nd, 2004 (technically yesterday), Nintendo launched the Nintendo DS in Japan.

Doomed to failure, as many critics and irrational fanboys predicted, the DS has made a complete turnaround in the land of the rising sun.

Third pillar indeed!

In it's one year of availability, the DS has amased an installed base of 3.74 million units.

It's breakout began with the release of Nintendogs on April 21, and has never looked back. The DS has since outsold the PSP for 32 straight weeks, a mighty feat for a dead system.

We roll into the holiday season with a handful of great titles on the way for the DS: Mario Kart, Mushking, Tao, Mario and Luigi 2, and a host of other third party titles.

Success of the PSP is inevitable.
It will topple Nintendo, GBA Next or whatever the hell it's called will not stand a chance.. DOA. :lol

SE couldn't get away with something as cheap as porting a NES game to PSP unless the graphics were remade entirely 3d or it featured entirely updated sprites and hand drawn/cg backgrounds. It's entirely passable for DS, though.

FF3DS is just a quick cash-in for SE, just like GTA Advance was for Rockstar. They get some free money that can be used to develop new entries in the series for Playstaion consoles and Nintendo probably thinks that they will get something out of the deal too. Too bad

I think the PSP will sell more than the DS.... by a lot. Once the PSP is out on all territories the DS will suffer greatly.

I'm just saying that Nbots who think the DS is going to win because Sony can't ship enough are going to be in a world of pain next year.

Sure, the PSP costs more because it has better hardware, but it's still too expensive for the average gamer. The DS is winning because of price. Casual gamers are idiots and don't wanna to be seen playing games like mario kart or animal crossing. If nintendos games actually helped their console sales, then the GC wouldn't be third place current gen.
