Happy Gilmore 2 - 7/25/25

I really tried to give this movie a shot but couldn't even finish it. 2/3 way through it was just getting worse with all the call backs to old characters and the jokes were getting less funny. This took "Member Berries" to the extreme. Heart was in the right place but failed execution.

If it's "extreme memberberries" level then it has no heart

Just finished, should have been "happy callbacks 2", quality is typical of Sandler's Netflix schlock.

Hey, at least in this one he got most of his family in along with his friends. Everyone gets a pay-day on Netflix's dime.

What the hell, was that Eminem as the jackass guy's son? The cameos are wild in this movie.

Wish the movie was better though lol

Hah, man… that movie was so bad. It just kept getting worse and worse.

It's almost worth watching just for all of the actors in it and nostalgic callbacks. But it's just so stupid, and not the good kind of stupid.

It's like trying to get back with your ex 15 years later because you're both lonely.

It means well but the moment is gone and everyone looks like shit.

It was better than a lot of his more recent efforts.. I didn't hate it.. there were a lot of elements that I liked and found amusing, especially when it comes to his kids. But yeah, the member berries in repeated jokes just were sad.. like having a guy stand looking up in the air with his eyes closed pinching. His own nipples has been done at least 15 times in his movies and it's just not funny anymore.

A good bad film.

Too reliant on cameos and callbacks, but the heartfelt moments landed well.

There was always potential in a sequel: I always thought an awkward buddy movie with Happy and Shooter on a seniors tour would've been great. But they went with this convoluted nothing-story instead.

Adam Sandler is living the dream. Some people expense their company the cost of Lunch. Adam Sandler expenses them having his family and friends.

Cmon people don't be afraid. Expense your boss today!

Cameos: the movie

Sandler is so washed up. Beyond the fact that it wasn't funny, there is something about the shameless nepotism that rubs me the wrong way. All of his friends, and now his wife and daughters as well are in his movies.

This felt like a superbowl commercial stretched into a 2 hour movie.

Well, if nothing else, at least this movie cleared up any confusion over Happys Jewish heritage. So there's that.

Edit* I absolutely hated the caddie and the early movie death. I'd give it a 2 out of 5.

I thought it was alright. Been a loooooong time since I've seen HG though, so I'm sure it pales in comparison.

I found it every odd how he had his daughter in tight crop tops almost the entire film and would often have a shot straight up her shirt. Had she any thing up there it would have been underboob all over the place. I guess she want to make a play for more roles?

Damn though, Julie Bowen has aged MAGNIFICANTLY, or they were doing a lot of digital fuckery on her.

Im in, it will a formulaic Sandler movie but ok with me.

I'm guessing happy falls on hard times and must win money.
I've just watched. It. Yeah it was this but also I found it funny and silly I liked it.
I'm not sure if it's better than the original. It's still a good movie. Solid film. Won't break no ground. Maybe too many clips of the old film in here but. Still a good time 😀

this movie was stupid i turned it off. i wished he'd made little nicky 2 instead

I mean, if they filmed it within the same time frame as Happy Gilmore 2, they probably could have got Ozzy to return a second time. Assuming that Ozzy wasn't already busy with the Black Sabbath reunion tour. I mean, a Happy Gilmore 2 kinda had to happen.

Sandlers production company is Happy Madison of course. The two movies that literally got him into films. It is also funny, because Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison were also two popular Netflix rentals back when they were shipping DVD's through the mail to peoples' houses.

I will watch the movie whenever I resubscribe to Netflix. I have had very little reason to stay subbed for more than a few months at a time.

Netflix does not go by box office numbers, it is purely view count driven, and if it drives up subscriptions it will be tagged as another successful movie from Happy Madison Productions.

Angry Joe review:

I hope RLM reviews it.

Watched it over the weekend. First half had a weird tone but it picks up in the second half. Tons of cameos. I was disappointed that Eric Andre's role was so minor. Overall it was kinda meh and I would not bother watching again

Loved his stuff early on. Grown ups is what made me pass on all his shit after. Don't like all your friends and family in the movie thing. Just irks me.

My wife watched this with me and it was a very mediocre movie. Relied on Cameos and terrible plots rerun jokes. The only good part was Scotty Scheffler and John Daily.

The whole concept is bad, and giving the villain halitosis isn't even funny or good writing. It is just a dumb thing they put in there that makes no sense.

Julian: 3.5/5
Martin: 1/5 (was going to be a 0.5 but he decided to be a bit nicer to Julian)

  • Julian is an Adam Sandler megafan
  • Recommends it only for those types
Korey was not present but considering how he is much harsher than Martin and Martin was going to give this a 0.5, Korey would have probably given it the 'absolute fuck you' rating of a 0 out of 5.

Was it great? No -- was it enjoyable to watch if you just kind turn off your mind? Yes.

A 6.5 or 7 outa 10 for me. Obviously not his best work, but it could have been so much worse.

I was actually enjoying it up until the Maxi Golf but. Went way off the rails. First half was actually a bit sweet, then the second half went gonzo. It's like there were two different writers or scripts and just mashed them together.
