Hard to be happy for this 4th of July. No family get-togethers, no cookouts, no huge fireworks shows, and depressing news all week long.

I obviously understand why we couldn't have any of those things this year, but it doesn't make it suck any less.

Senseless that Austin's fireworks show was cancelled due to COVID. They could've closed Auditorium Shores and held it anyway, and it would've still been visible to a large chunk of the city.

Yeah I thought the same thing for the local shows here in DFW, but I guess they were afraid people would still throw cookouts and stuff to watch it.

Which to be fair they probably would have, but then again if my neighborhood is any indication then alot of people are still doing that despite the lack of fireworks.

Hell yea brothers! Keep on popping!
  • "Firework sellers say they are seeing huge gains in firework sales, with some seeing jumps of 200% to 300% in sales.
  • Companies normally place orders for fireworks over a year in advance with the expectation that sales from around the Fourth of July will buoy them through the year.
  • Industry leaders say the rise of firework sales to individual consumers likely stems from the cancellation of many professional shows across the U.S."
"The Boston Police Department, for example, said they received 2,300% more calls to police over fireworks, which are illegal in Massachusetts, in May than a year ago. New York City, where fireworks are also illegal, received 1,737 complaints about fireworks to the city’s 311 system in the first half of June – 80 times more than the same period last year, according to the New York Times. In my metro area of Austin, fireworks are still on. No audience in the fields. I think everyone's going to be watching from the local business parking lots and in their cars.

Got my $150 worth of mortars and destroyed what was left of my phone on float trip, fuck yeah!

As a Brit I find July 4th highly offensive. It should be banned immediately.

Nahh just joking, "Nothing important happened today" and you suckers can have Florida.

My first ID in Tennessee and gatdamn their lack of fireworks laws are fucking awesome. Seriously.

I sat in the backyard at my in-laws and there was such an awesome show all around us. Some rich ass neighborhoods blowing $1,000s worth of fireworks. Didn’t need to go anywhere.

Probably one of the best 4ths I ever celebrated.

Happy 4th, America. Many things that I love dearly came from your beautiful country and I'm grateful. Also, my daughter was born on this very day 6 years ago so it's a special date for us (her second birthday was even themed after independence day).

Saw more fireworks last night than I have in a long time.

They were going off all day and did not stop until 1 am

Got to go to a neighborhood show. It was like a mini concert.

I didn't even think about it until this morning... Not one person I saw yesterday was wearing a mask.
