Thank you for your dedication and service. It's not an easy job and it can be thankless at times.

My father was a twenty-year Navy vet. I nearly went in myself some years back. Do we have any former or current members of the armed forces here on Gaf? Perhaps a family member or friend?

I never served, but my father was in Vietnam.

My grandfather retired a general after WW2 and Korea, My other grandfather was a Navy mechanic in the pacific. My Great Uncle (Uncle Harry) was shot down over Holland and snuck out of the country through the Dutch Underground. My other Great Uncle (Uncle B) was in the African theater and refused to eat spam ever again after being served it for a long time.

I have had family in every major American war with the exception of Iraq and Afghanistan. The name of My Ancestor in the Revolutionary war was Cyprian Collins, In the Civil War, Abe Lincoln, (yep that one).

I deserve no credits because I didn't do anything.

Salute to all the men and women who served and continue to serve and protect the U.S. and thank you for all your sacrifices

Seven in total among my family and friends. Some of the strongest men one could ever meet serve in the U.S. military, sacrificing much if not everything to safeguard our freedoms. God bless our veterans and troops, and the veterans and troops of our allies just the same

Instead of teaching diversity and inclusion, we should teach how people sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.
"The government forced millions of boys and men to join the army many of whom died for our freedom. The draft was segragated at first and blacks were rarely drafted and if they were drafted they were more often than not given non combat roles. Thankfully by the time of the Vietnam war this kind of racism was a thing of the past and Blacks were actually over represented in those serving and dying for our freedom"
Two birds, one stone.

Not everyone is from the USA, just saying.

My father was in both Vietnam and the Gulf War. One obviously much worse than the other. Luckily he didn't see to much awful shit.
