It's the longest night of the year today.

From Wikipedia

The winter solstice, also called the hibernal solstice, occurs when either of Earth's poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. This happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern). For that hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, and when the Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky.[1] Each polar region experiences continuous darkness or twilight around its winter solstice.

If anyone is interested there is a tomb in Newgrange, Ireland where light only fully enters the central chamber on the 21 December. The tomb was built around 3000BC. Impressive piece of construction all things considered.

Days start getting longer finally. Rejoice.
Thank God. I was diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder 30 years ago. I hate winter. It isn’t the cold that bothers me, it’s the slate gray skies and the 5pm sunsets.

I used to use a light box for years but I don’t think it did a damn thing. I need to win a mega lottery so I can have northern and southern hemisphere homes. 😐
