Every idiot who whined and said they will need a new cast after the fourth movie needs to see that teaser, and they need to read the books.

I know Radcliffe is doing Phoenix, but they need to keep all three through movie seven.

Gonna Be fucking Awsome i tell you. I cant wait for it. The fact that they keep making the movies every two years makes for a good timeline for age to books i guess. But really i hope they keep the same cast all the way through till the last book.

they already changed directors.

Alfonso is interested in doing 6 or 7 last I heard.

Teaser looks good, but I'm still unsure of the new director and music composer. I really don't think anyone could replace John Williams.

Really, there are key themes that play for each character and each theme in general...while I really love Williams' score for Azkaban, I also feel that change is fine in this instance. You play the key themes, you introduce new music to the themes. It's a very different film compared to the first three; it really reaches them at more of a personal level. I think the composer for a film like Gosford Park could really be able to work with the personal issues the film will deal with.

Dragon looks fine to me, really excited to see how this thing comes together. I'm also trying to figure out EXACTLY whose voice that is at the end...I think it's Dumbledore but it could well be Mr. Fiennes.

Anybody know how long it's going to be? I know there was a rumor awhile ago that it would be really long and have an intermission, but I doubt that shit would fly in modern theatres.

It'll be at least 3 hours, if not pushing 3 1/2. The further we get, the longer they will be.

2 1/2...HOW? I mean, even when you cut out the subplots there's 3 hours of story there.

I heard they're capping the movie at about 2 1/2. Just like Azkaban. Fine by me.

It was okay with Azkaban because it isn't that long as a book, and because Cuaron is a pretty super good director. Mike Newell hasn't really done anything very good, and GoB is a pretty long book. Most of the book is pretty important story elements, too.

I think Azkaban may be as good as HP gets on film.

It's obviously Dumbledore, just by listening to the message he is giving Harry, which is basically the same message Luke is told in Starwars. You can follow the good path, or be seduced by the easy evil path.

I haven't really enjoyed the first 3 that much. I seen them, and can't knock them for anything, but they're just.. above average. I don't mind if I don't even see the next one, but somehow I think I will. Either through someone renting in my house or something.

They originally were going to start making the movies two parts, starting with this one. But the director of number three really chopped out parts of the book and thought it went well enough, so they decided to do the same for number four (unlike the first two, where they tried to kee every single scence/character).

Oh damn, it's only 2.5 hours?

Azkaban was good, it was true enough to the book, but it felt RUSHED like a mother. And I don't mean in production, I mean that the story was like, rushing at you. They cramped A LOT of stuff into that 2.5 hours, and it just ran at a much faster pace then I'm used to for these kinds of stories.

I really, really hope this one is at least 3 hours, and that they start doing longer and longer for the next books. There's no effing way they can cram book 5 into 2.5 hours. No way.

They should just take a lesson from LotR and release dvd extended cuts.

Aye, 3 was just joke in that regard they should have at least done that for dvd. I dont think I'll get my friends to see another one after 3rd one. It was not coherent so much was cut out of it for non readers to follow. And these are even longer, I dont have hope in rest of line. I rather see nice long mini series, perhaps anime, toon like down the road. But keep in mind this is from person that actually likes the books not just "action" sequences.

Imo, 3 had no typical charme which the otheer movies sure had. I hope 4 will be longer, so they can you know...show more of that universe.

I noticed this movie is also rated PG. I was hoping that the movies would get darker as the books did, but I guess a PG-12 movie might be too much.

You don't understand filmic storytelling at all.

Personally, I hope to God Goblet of Fire feels as swift as Azkaban did. "Charm" be damned. Cramming-in-every-last-detail-from-the-book BE DAMNED.

You know what I find charming? A brisk, emotionally-grounded, well-told story.

As "true to the books" as people seem to say the first two movies are, they certainly lacked any heart IMO. The locations chosen were bland, particularly the layout of Hogwart's Castle and the surrounding land, the visual style overall was lacking and I felt the kid actors had yet to grow into their own in terms of the characters.

Cramming in plot points from the book is different from capturing the flavor and magic of the books and I felt PoA did that in spades, much more so than either the first or second film. This starts with the much more interesting location chosen for Hogwart's, sure it's not consistent with the first two, but consistency be damned when they've found someplace as gorgeous and full of character as the new locations used in PoA.

The kids are getting better as well, though Radcliffe still lags well behind the other two, with Emma Watson really showing she could grow into a great actress. Even though the casting change for Dumbledore was obviously a necessity I really feel the casting choice is more appropriate than the original in terms of the later books, because the role becomes pretty physical later on.

Anyway to save it?

Quicktime movie end up in your cache, just go into your Temporary Internet Files folder if you're using IE, I'm not sure where Firefox keeps its files if you're using that.

I have yet to find Harry even likable in the books, much less give a damn whether he's whiny or not (though his whiny tendencies and his superb ability to blame everything on everyone else - particularly Snapes - plays a large part in my dislike of him). He doesn't come across nearly as bad in the movies, but any embarrasement from the emotional scenes involving Harry in PoA have more to do with Radcliffe's limited acting ability than with anything else.

Yeah probably. But IMO a good director makes even bad actors act good.
